Remarks
So I applied for IMT, MDI, IIFT, XIMB, NMIMS, IMI and BITSOM. I wasn't able to convert IIFT and NMIMS because of my percentile (95.1) and NMAT score. For MDI my GDPI went well but I believe my Acads related knowledge was less. So from XIMB, IMI and IMT I chose IMT because its a great college for marketing and also its near to my house. My sister passed out from this college in 2014 and she is doing well in her life which motivated me more to get into this college. My college admission process was firstly getting the required percentile for shortlisting, then an essay writing and PI was done on the date selected. Then the result came out after one and a half months. Cutoff for CAT was above 92 percentile and for XAT it was above 94 percentile.
Course Curriculum Overview
Class strength is approximately 60 and 720 students are total in this year batch. marketing has 180 students. 2:3 is the ratio for girls and boys. Peer group is highly competitive because no reservation is their in the college and every student has performed well in their CAT and come to this college. Some attend for marks and some for learning.
Internships Opportunities
Right now many are left for summer placements. Those not getting summer placement from college will have to opt out from placemats and look for an internship outside the campus. Highest stipend is 2 lacs per month and lowest is 25 thousand per month till date.
Placement Experience
final placement starts around novemeber and it takes 3 months for everyone to get placed. approx 95 % of batch gets placed during this time. avg etc is 18 lacs and companies do take student in bulk like Deloitte.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees is approximately 22 lacs where 12 lacs need to be paid in the first year itself. I believe it's the same as compared to other top B-schools in India. Also the college provides scholarships for students who scored more that 98 percentile in CAT.
Campus Life
Gym, basketball court, badminton court, tennis court, football ground and cricket pitch is available at the campus. Gym is really great. No swimming pool. campus is approximately 7-8 acres. Relatives can visit but till 6 pm only. Medical centre is also there with a doctor and ambulance available at the campus.Overall campus life is great and hectic. and Imt never sleeps because of its rigorous culture.Cafeteiras are open till 4AM. Major committee is the Student affairs and welfare council, Academic committee and admissions committee. Main management event is Passion organised by the student council and sports fest that is Chakravyuh organised by sports committee. College offers student exchange program in various countries like France, Germany, USA and Canada.
Hostel Facilities
Boys are not allowed to enter girls hostel but girls can enter boys hostel. K block is the best because most fun happens there only (like dj night and parties). Student Council is responsible for Hostel allocation and it's a very smooth process. Students are not allowed to leave the campus post 10 PM and enter post 11 PM. Fooding is included in fees and food is at sub par level. Hostels are well guarded so no issue related to safety. Menu changes monthly.Double sharing room is there inhistels. AC, geysers, wifi, almirahs, study table, chairs and beds are provided by the college itself. Also other things like mattress and curtains are available at the time of shifting. The gym is really great in the hostel. Washrooms are common not attached (also not that clean to be honest). 16 students share two WC, and showers.
Exam Structure
So I started preparing for cat from August 2023 and gave my CAT in nov. I took coaching from TIMES and yes coaching matters, I studied form a bunch of experienced teachers who helped me in this journey. Also the most important part was the practice part, only practice can make you crack CAT no matter how intelligent you are. Other exams like XAT, NMAT, SNAP were all easier than CAT and its prep was similar to that of CAT. Admission process was simple and a smooth one, the admission committee and student council helped the most during this process. Commencement of classes was from June 21, approximately 3 months after the results were announced.
Faculty
The course curriculum is very well-structured. Some students fail their exams. The good aspect of the course is that it covers all the important topics, and the bad aspect is that you need 80% attendance, or else you will have to face grade loss. In the first Trimester, we have 7 exams. We usually have 3 classes in a day, and the timings of the classes are between 9 am and 4:45 pm. Post this time, students usually have free time to do other stuff. But they have to do their club/committee/council work as well as their APO work as well. Teachers usually use PPTs to teach. Vivek Jadav is one of the best faculties as he is willing to schedule extra sessions for the students and also gives great marks in class assignments. You need to maintain 80% attendance, failing to do this will result in grade loss.
