Remarks

I chose IMT as it was a renowned name especially for marketing course. 1.The placements were decent for a college which is not in top 15 colleges of the country. 2. Good Alumni network with college legacy extending to over 40 years. 3. College being placed in the metro city provides good opportunity for industry connect which was a problem with few of the other newer IIM's. Other colleges that I applied to 1. Applied to IIIM's, XLRI, XIMB, Symbiosis colleges and NMIMS. Cat score wasn't good enough to get calls from most of the IIM's. Gave interview for XLRI HR, didn't convert. Converted XIMB but chose IMT over it. Admission process of IMT 1. CAT/XAT/GMAT test. 2. Writing test of 10 minutes where you get a topic on spot and need to write 300 odd words on the same. 3. Personal Interview round.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

1. 60-65 students could be seated in a class at max. In our specialization we have 300 students in marketing and the total batch size is around 800 students. 2. For our course the boys to girls ratio is around 3:1 and is same for the entire batch. In our batch the population is a bit skewed towards students primarily from Delhi NCR region. But we have people from the southern part of the country as well as from states like west Bengal, Bihar to name a few. 3. Peer group is great with people from diverse backgrounds adding to different ideas in group activities. Also there is a good mix of freshers as well as work ex people which helps group activities with diversified ideas. Yes peer learning does take place a lot. 4. Yes we do get class participation marks. 5. Yes students do attend the class for learning but for a few subjects I feel they attend solely for attendance purpose especially the ones which they don't like.

Internships Opportunities

2

Yes we received around 90 % summer internships and the rest of the students were helped with references from the college which helped them get placed for summers. This data remains confidential. Average stiped is 98k/month, highest was 3 lakhs last year and lowest was 25k. Most preferred are FMCG companies and they offer something above and around 1 lakhs per months. A few of the consulting/services company hires in bulk.

Placement Experience

2

Final placement starts in November and goes upto February. Most of the batch gets placed . For the ones which don't get placed college tries to help them out with references through alumni. Average CTC was 17.35 LPA last year, median was 16LPA. BFSI and IT/ITES are the most preferred. Placement committee helps the students in getting placed and they try to keep the process as transparent as possible. The faculty advisor for the placements also helps in the same.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

-12.23 lakhs in the first year(Admission Fees 50k, Academic Fees - 11.5 Lakhs, Alumni Fees 8k, Caution Deposit-15k) -9.3 lakhs in the second year(Academic Fees). -21.53 lakhs for the entire duration. -In the similar league of colleges, this fees is on the slightly lower side as most of the similar colleges charge above this for the entire duration like the newer IIM's and NMIMS, Symbiosis. - Eating out, travelling to nearby locations on weekends, partying over couple of weekends comprise the major expense apart from the fees paid. - No difference in fees based on caste. But female students do get 25% scholarship in their total fees. This is done to promote diversity in batch promoting more femnale students to apply for the college. - Female students do get 25% scholarship(Smt Leela Nath Memorial scholarship). Apart from this there is a scholarship given to few students who excel in their academics and come from not so stable financial background. TFW waiver scheme: Candidates eligible and shortlisted for the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) scheme will not be required to pay the academic fee component as they will get a 100% academic fee waiver. They will, however, have to pay all other components of the fees.

Campus Life

2

1. Sports facilities are good and are maintained by the sports committee. A multipurpose ground for cricket/football, basketball court, badminton court, tennis court and a volleyball court comprise the sports facilities in the campus. Equipments are supposed to be brought by the students themselves. 2. Yes the campus does have a couple of gyms. Basic facilities are provided. 3. No the campus doesn't have a swimming pool. 4. Auditorium and library is very good. Yes most of the books are accessible. Library timings are 8 AM to 4 AM. Yes we do have access to a lot of third party databases like crisil, bloomberg, statista etc. 5. The college campus is medium sized with around 14 acres of land The majority hostels are 2-5 minutes walking distance from the acd block. A major chunk of boys do stay in a CDL hostel which is located 4 km from the main campus, students do commute through the shuttle service provided by the campus. 6. Till last year students were allowed to keep their vehicles on campus but this year the administration is not allowing the students to keep personal vehicles in campus. 7. No relatives can't stay overnight in the campus and they need to make their own arrangements. 8. Yes we have one canteen which remians open for 20 hrs and one nescafe which serves tea, coffee etc. No medical center. But we do have an ambulance ready and a doctor who visits the campus for a couple of hours in the evening.1. Overall campus life is moderately vibrant. After classes students do prefer to work on case competitions, projects , club committee activities etc. which keeps them busy . Apart from that they hangout with friends post classes. 2. Nightlife is decent, people hardly sleep and the campus is very lively even late in the night. 3. They go out pretty often. Inside campus major hangout spot is the Arcus in K block and outside campus would be the Babbaar/Abbas tea shop. 4. There is polica patrolling the place late in the night as it is a high profile area with the commissioner residence nearby. But students should not roam alone late in the night. 5. Passion is the cultural fest and chakravyuh is the major sports fest. 6. There are a lot of clubs committeees which serve different specializations of MBA. I am a part of research and consulting club which is responsible for a lot of reseravh based reports which help the students for placements activities etc. 7. Yes there is a International Relations Center which helps students with the international exchange programsoffered by the college. A lot of universities from europe are a part of that. Yes there is some extra fees that needs to be paid for the same.

Hostel Facilities

2

1. Yes boys and girls hostel are separate. Boys are not allowed to enter girls hostel but girls can enter boys hostel. 2. 5 girls hostel and 6 boys hostel. K block is the best as it is huge and takes up major chunk of boys in the 2nd year. 3. Hostel allocation is decided by the student council and the algorithm followed is not disclosed. The preferences are taken into consideration as per availability. 4. Hostel fees is not mentioned explicitly and it is included in the total fees. There is no difference in the fees for single or double occupancy rooms. 5. There are no hostel timings. Only that students can not leave the campus post 10 PM and could not enter the campus post 11 PM. Students are not allowed to party or play loud music post 11PM and the administration is very strict with this rule. 6. Food is included in the total fees. 7. We have common mess for all the hostels. Apart from that we have one 20 hr canteen which serves all of the campus. 8. Food quality is OK. Food menu is looked upon by the mess committee and they try to keep changing the menu frequently. 9. Yes the hostels are guarded. 2 guards per hostel. No major security threat. 1. There are single and double sharing rooms with common washrooms. I chose double sharing as I don't like being alone and having a roommate in different circumstances. 2. AC, Geyser, Wifi, Almirah, Study Table, Beds, Mattress are provided. Quality is good. 3. There is a single common room in K block for all hostels where TT table, carrom etc. is there along with some seating area. 4. Washrooms are common. Cleaned everyday. 5. Depends hostel to hostel. I general we have 20 students sharing the 1 common washroom which has 3 toilets and 2 bathrooms .

Exam Structure

1.Admission process starts from applying for the college on their website and this starts from late November and is available till last week January.(In my case was till 31st January). Students are given a call based on their CAT, XAT, GMAT scores and they are invited for next round which is GD/Critical Thinking test. After this there is a personal interview round of around 15-20 minutes. Based on the critical thinking test and PI students are given a final call. and this happens in mid March. Classes commence in last week of June. 2. CAT/XAT/GMAT scores are accepted for the PGDM course. For CAT/XAT scores around 95 percentile is a good score that could give you a call. I am a General Engineer male and I scored 96 percentile in XAT which helped me get a call for IMT. 3. Only one way to get admission that is mentioned above.

Faculty

The course curriculum is quite easy, not so difficult. It was prescribed by scert itself. Yes students do fail in the exams. Good aspects of this course are you gain knowledge, skills, confidence to speak, participate in various activities and social interaction too. It also provide hand on experience by giving 30-35 days training in school. The bas aspect is, it is also based on the the old school education system to give exams which I personally don't like and u have to submit various files of all subjects. Although it is a good practise to gain the experience but it is somewhat burdensome. There are 3 exams conducted in a year- 2 internals and 1 term end with 10 subjects each. 8 classes take place usually in a day with 45-50 minutes each. As such no free time is given except lunch break which is of 20-25 minutes. Every teacher has its own methodology to teach. Some use lecture method, some uses discussion method and some uses demonstration method according to the topic and subject. I personally admire all the faculties as they do work wholeheartedly to teach us. All the teachers are best according to my opinion. Yes there is a mandatory attendance rule. You have to maintain atleast 75 percent attendance in a year to qualify for the exams. If you don't fulfill the criteria, then you have to come to colleges in preparatory leaves to complete the attendance. Yes I have seen students coming to college because of short of attendance. And regularly or monthly, students were given short of attendance forms to get it signed by parents and they have to secure the 75 percent criteria of attendance.

Final placements start in November adn about 80-85% of the people in campus get placed via it. I am not aware of any of the details surrounding average, lowest and highest as of now. The Placement Committee plays a vital role in getting these companies on board to recruit however they are not at all transparent and show a high degree of preference towards their own members and push for them to be included in GDPIs of companies at the expense of others.

Placement Experience:

While the college has a very good placement record, it still does not place nearly 5-10% of its students, and those students go through all sorts of workshops, mock interviews, and one-on-one mentoring by the instituition to ensure they get placed. Average CTC is around INR 19 LPA. The placement committee plays a crucial role in coordinating the process and, while many see it as transparent, some students feel that improvements can be made in terms of communication concerning criteria placed on placements.

Final placements usually start around January. It takes about 2 weeks for the process to finish. Placements are 100% every year. CTC can range from 17LPA, with an average of 30LPA to 65L domestic and 1.3Cr in international offers. Placement process is transparent as most of it is conducted by students themselves and the placement committee works hard to ensure every student is placed.
