Remarks

I got confirmed admissions from Great Lakes, SIBM Bengaluru. I chose IMT G instead of the other two colleges for two primary reasons. The first one was that I wanted to enroll in a 2-year course, and Great Lakes was offering a 1-year course. So, Despite the average package of both colleges being similar, I chose IMT. Secondly, IMT G was closer to my home(Delhi) as compared to SIBM Bengaluru. So I didn't choose SIBM Bengaluru. I did my preparation with my job. So, I had limited time. But I still feel that I wasted a lot of time. If I had utilized my time a little better, I would have gotten into one of the top IIMs. Also, I focused more on quants as compared to DILR and VARC. Though I did score 99.7 in quants, I could not score as high in the other 2 sections.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The total strength of a class is generally 60. There are 180 students in marketing. There are 36% girls in the college. Students come from various backgrounds, and we even have a doctor in our batch. The peer to peer interaction is one of the major sources of learning. For every subject, we have 10 marks for class participation. The majority of the students attend the class for learning, but there are a few students who attend class just for attendance.

Internships Opportunities

4

The college did achieve 100% summer placements. The average stipend offered was 94k with the highest offer at 4.5L. Students secured Internship roles in the key business functions of organizations like Analytics, Asset and Wealth Management, Branding, Business Banking, Business Consulting. The internship scenario is generally the best in Marketing as compared to other courses.

Placement Experience

4

Final placements start in October/November. The college yet again achieved 100% placement. The average package was 17.35 Lakhs and the highest domestic package received was 3 lakhs. The highest international package was 65.6 lakhs

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fee I'll pay for the two years is around 21.5L. The fees of other colleges are more or less similar. Expense that most students, especially CDL boys, incur include the auto ride between CDL and the main campus. Yes, the college provides Scholarships to students with high scores in CAT/XAT. Also, the college provides Scholarships to girls as well.

Campus Life

5

The college has great sports facilities. It has a football field, basketball court, badminton court, lawn tennis court, and table tennis tables as well. It aslo has a gym but the gym lacks a few machines. There is no swimming pool on the campus. The college is decently big and distance of hostel to campus would be aound 300m. The relatives can also visit the campus. They just need to take permission from the Student Council and they can visit between 9 am to 6 pm. The Nescafe on the campus is also really good. There is also a doctor available on the college campus along with an ambulance. The overall campus life is great. Most of the students play or go out with friends. The nigh life is great and it is said that "IMT never sleeps". It is safe to roam around the campus at night. Passion is one of the best fests to happen. I'm a part of Student Affairs and Welfare Council. IRC looks after the foreign exchange program.

Hostel Facilities

4

Girls and boys hostel are separate. Girls are allowed to enter the boys hostel but boys are not allowed in girls hostel. Hostel allocation take place randomly. There is no specific hostel timings but we are not allowed to leave the campus post 10pm. No hostel has a separate canteen/cafeteria. The food quality is good and the menu changes every 15 days. The hostels are guarded and there has been no major threat in recent times. Most of the rooms are double sharing, but some rooms are single sharing as well. Every room has an AC, 2 almirahs, 2 chairs, and 2 beds. Wifi and geyser is also available on every floor. Washrooms are common. We can get the rooms cleaned whenever we want. there is a single washroom on every floor of a hostel block.

Exam Structure

CAT is the most preferred exam for IMT G. Though IMT G also accepts XAT scores as well. For the admission process, initially there was a critical thinking test, followed by the interview. This year the process happened on 26th Jan. The final result was declared on 23rd March. No, IMT G does not have a management quota.

Faculty

5

The curriculum so far has been quite easy to understand although there are some professors who are too conceptual and cannot find any real world experiences to relate to or compare the concepts to. Failing in itself is not common as close to 60marks constitute our internals and with a bit of effort, students can score pretty well in internals plus their is the added benefit of relative marking which safeguards students from any sort of definite pass or fail mark. Across a year we have somewhere around 20 officials end term exams and anywhere between 50-60 quizzes or assignments that constitute our internal marks and evaluation with another 15-20 presentation as well. Faculty members who I really admire are Triphti Ghosh Sharma Ma'am and Mrinalini Shah Ma'am who taught us Marketing and Case Learning respectively. Tripti Ma'am is sound with her concepts and finds so many real world examples to relate and compare to that all that a student actually needs to do is pay attention in her class and that student will do pretty well in any form of assessment related to the subject. Mrinalini Ma'am taught us all something new in Case Studies and how a person can or should approach and the different frameworks and perspectives that are to be considered while going through the case and how to find links between different points on different pages and relate different aspects to one another. Unfortunately we do have a mandatory attendance rule of 80%, which I feel is highly draconian and if students dont meet the criterion, they are subject to grade loss basis the amount of classes they have missed. For example, for a 3 credit subject with 20 lectures, you can miss4. If you miss between 5-6 you suffer a singular Grade Loss, if you miss 7-8 that becomes a Double Grade Loss and so on and so forth. Multiple students have already missed so many classes and I am ware of people who have grade losses in 4-5 subjects out of the 6-7 exams that we will be attempting in the end term examinations.

Placement Experience:

While the college has a very good placement record, it still does not place nearly 5-10% of its students, and those students go through all sorts of workshops, mock interviews, and one-on-one mentoring by the instituition to ensure they get placed. Average CTC is around INR 19 LPA. The placement committee plays a crucial role in coordinating the process and, while many see it as transparent, some students feel that improvements can be made in terms of communication concerning criteria placed on placements.

Final placements usually start around January. It takes about 2 weeks for the process to finish. Placements are 100% every year. CTC can range from 17LPA, with an average of 30LPA to 65L domestic and 1.3Cr in international offers. Placement process is transparent as most of it is conducted by students themselves and the placement committee works hard to ensure every student is placed.
