Remarks :
To be eligible for getting admission in IIIT Sonepat, one needs to clear JEE Mains with a good rank. Also, the candidate must have scored more than 75 percent marks in class 12. The application form for JEE Mains is usually released around October-November but can be delayed to December as well. The JEE Mains examination is usually held twice a year, in January and in April. The application fee for applying is around 2000 rupees per attempt. The form can be found on their official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. Because IIITs are government colleges, category-based reservations are available. However, there is no girls' quota as of now.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course because there is a huge demand for Computer Science Engineers right now and will continue to exist in the long future. Moreover, the curriculum of IIIT Sonepat is much better than other colleges as we get started with Computer Programming right away, unlike other colleges where you have to study subjects like physics and chemistry in the first semester. Each class has 60 students for one professor to teach. The quality of some faculties is very good while for others, their pedagogy is questionable. In every semester we have two mid-sem examinations of 15 marks each (1-hour papers) and the final end-sems of 50 marks (3 hour papers).
Placement Experience :
Students become eligible for placements after their third year, provided they do not have any active backlogs. More than 85% of the students get placed. The companies that visit our campus keep changing every year. As of now, companies like Yamaha and Gyaan have started recruiting from our college. The median package is around 8.5 lacs and the highest is around 52 lacs.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The overall cost of studying here will cost you around 16 lacs (including hostel and mess). The tuition fee per semester here is around 1 lac. There is no scholarship from the college, however, students can apply for government scholarships through National Scholarship Portal or through organisations like Reliance Foundation Scholarship, which is very popular in our college.
Campus Life :
One big problem with many IIITs including ours is that there are no cultural and tech fests. Only one sports fest has been organised till now, and that too was held in this year only. It was named Agnito 2023. There is no proper library in the college. On the name of library we only have a small room where you can go and issue books, and that too opens for two hours a day only and is closed on weekends and holidays. Also, there is a frequent shortage of books. Talking about the facilites in the classroom, well, we have okayish classrooms with smartboards and projectors. Our college does have clubs like GDSC, Enigmatics club, photography club and other minor clubs.
