Remarks :
The admission process was quite simple with all the information provided on the nta website. Any student who has taken up science in class 11-12 and has passed the class 12 exam or equivalent with 60% is eligible to take the entrance examination i.e. NEET. After qualifying NEET and obtaining the required cut off the student is allowed to participate in counseling rounds. All the information regarding these rounds is provided on the wbmcc website for the state of West Bengal. The admission process is simple but the time provided is very limited hence all the documents should be prepared in advance before the counseling.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The faculty-student ratio is around 1:10 which is great because we get ample time and attention from our teachers who put in all their efforts to make us understand the simplest of topics. The faculty is highly qualified and the majority of them have a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience. The most common method used for theory classes is presentations and projectors with frequent quizzes and for practicals, we have proper arrangements of instruments and are taken to the hospital for hands-on experience. There are approximately 3 semesters and a professional exam per year which is quite difficult and requires daily learning.
Internships Opportunities :
There are 19 departments in our college where the one-year internship is divided. A student has to do an internship in all the departments for 1 or 1.5 months. The internship is very helpful to learn basic skills and to understand the departments.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure is 9000 per year which is constant and hasn't seen any hike for many years. The total amount for the entire course is around 36000 rupees. There are many government schemes for which students can apply and get scholarships. At the end of 4.5 years, there's a mandatory internship for which a stipend of 30000 is given.
Campus Life :
We have an annual cultural fest named Lobelia and a medical fest named Therapeu in the months of August and September. Our library is loaded with plenty of books and journals which are readily available to the students. In every classroom, we have comfortable seating with 2 projectors, a proper sound system, a green board, plenty of fans, and an air conditioner. Extracurricular activities are going on throughout the year with every aspect covered be it cultural, sports, or educational. We have many clubs in our college like the literary club, sports club, cultural club, etc.
