Dispur College Review

Remarks :

The candidate has to secure at least 60% to attain a seat in the college. The admission process was simple, the seats in different departments were distributed according to the cgpa/percentage achieved by the students. For eg, if someone has secured 90% he/she will be given full freedom to select any department of their choice. But, if someone has secured 62% then he might have some difficulty selecting the subject of his choice because there's a capacity in each department. Reservations can be availed by Minority castes/tribes/religions and differently-abled candidates. The entire process of admission was satisfactory however, it could have been better if the capacity in each department had been greater. Students might have faced problems while choosing their preferred subject. On the other candidates must also be guided regarding the various courses available in the college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course because I was interested in poetry and literature and I had foreplanned during my high school to opt for this course. Faculties were approachable and skilled, however, the teaching method should be looked upon.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The structure of fees varies according to the department. For Bachelor of Arts, the course duration is 3 years and the total fees sum upto 27k per year. For BCom, the course is 3 duration, and first-year fees are 8k approx. Other courses like the PG Diploma, BCA, etc. are also available.

Campus Life :

The library has a good collection of textbooks and reference books covering different subjects. The Library has a total of 13(thirteen) periodicals comprising different subject journals, general Magazines, and Newspapers. H.S. students are given 2 (two) Reader’s Tickets (library cards) and T.D.C. Semester students are given 2 (two) (for passing the course) and 3 (three) (for Major course) Reader’s Tickets for borrowing the books from the library. Sports are played on the campus.

Placement Experience:

The placement of the college is quite good. we cannot disclose the name of the company visiting the campus because the training and placement cell of NIT SILCHAR did not allow us to disclose the names of the companies. My plan after getting my degree is to go through the UPSC exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Because I was interested in this course. Here the faculty-to-student ratio would be around 1:25 which is very good we can clarify our doubts by asking the faculty, the Qualification of the teaching method will mostly be the same, they are PhD, but their teaching experience plays a major role and their teaching method varies from faculty to faculty but it would be nice. Term exams would be around 5 months Difficulty in passing the exams depends on the faculty.

Placement Experience:

From the 6th sem onwards students are eligible for campus. As per the guidelines of the training and placement cell, the name of the company visited can't be disclosed. There are too many companies visiting the campus for recruitment. Almost all the students who are eligible for placements get placed with a good package.
