If you are considering Thapar University as an option for your higher education, it is important to understand its strengths and weaknesses as compared to other top colleges like IITs, NITs, BITS, and top IIITs. Here are some key points to consider:

Thapar University:

  • Good college: Thapar University is a well-regarded institute for higher education, offering a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various fields.
  • Location advantage: If you are located in the northern region of India, Thapar University can be a good option for you due to its convenient location.
  • Average exposure: While Thapar University provides decent exposure in terms of academics, research, and extra-curricular activities, it may not match up to the level of some of the top institutes in the country.
  • Comparatively lower placements: Thapar University has good placement records, but it may not be able to match up to the high standards set by some of the top IITs, NITs, BITS, and IIITs in terms of job offers and salary packages.

On the other hand, if you are looking for better faculty, excellent placements, and no problems with the fee structure, BITS Pilani can be a better option for you. Here are some reasons why:

BITS Pilani:

  • Reputed institute: BITS Pilani is a highly reputed institute, known for its academic excellence, research output, and industry collaborations.
  • Excellent faculty: BITS Pilani has a team of highly experienced and qualified faculty members who are experts in their respective fields. They are committed to providing quality education and guidance to students.
  • Best-in-class exposure: BITS Pilani provides world-class exposure in terms of academics, research, extra-curricular activities, and industry collaborations. This exposure is one of the underlying reasons behind the success of students from this institute.
  • Higher placements: BITS Pilani has a strong placement record, with students being placed in top companies in various sectors. The average salary package offered to students is also relatively higher than that of Thapar University.
  • Higher fee structure: However, it is important to note that BITS Pilani has a comparatively higher fee structure as compared to Thapar University.

In conclusion, if you are located in the northern region of India and want a good college that offers decent exposure, Thapar University can be a suitable option for you. However, if you are looking for better faculty, and excellent placements, and are willing to pay a higher fee, BITS Pilani can be a better option for you.

If you have to make a choice between Thapar University or BITS Hyderabad, Pilani or Goa then I would suggest that you go for one of the institutes of BITS without any hesitation. But if you get CSE or IT at Thapar, go for it.

  • BITS is considered to be in the league of prominent Indian institutes like the IITs and the NITs.
  • If you are getting admission in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering at BITS Goa and Hyderabad, or an integrated B.Tech + M.Tech course then goes for Thapar University.
  • If you are eligible for admission into any of the BITS institutions, then you will also easily get CSE at Thapar.
  • There are students with a rank as good as 21,000 in Thapar University. They got admission there is they were not eligible for admission in any of the tier 1 colleges of India.
Categories Thapar University
Course Fee 13.23 lakhs
Highest CTC 23-24 LPA
Average CTC 12-14 LPA
Recruiting Companies  DE Shaw, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, etc.

Computer Science and Engineering at Thapar is totally worth it. The university is popular in India among the student communities because of the placement records which are considered to be extremely good.
