Yes, BITS Pilani will increase their fees in the near future. But you also need to know the reason behind this. The top government engineering institutions such as IITs receive full government funding which helps them to operate efficiently and thus charge lower fees. However, BITS Pilani does not receive any kind of government funding so its main source of revenue is the students’ fees to maintain the level of education and onboard top-notch faculties. The current fee of BITS Pilani is around INR 21 lakhs which I agree is a bit too much.
IITs receive government funding to ensure their smooth functioning. On the other hand, private colleges like BITS Pilani receive no such government aid or funding. Thus, they rely heavily on the fees obtained from their students.
Even though the facilities at BITS Pilani are top notch, its fees are extremely high. It is very difficult for middle class families to afford such high fees, even after taking an education loan. The present fee for B.E. at BITS Pilani is around 21 lakhs.
I would recommend you consider good IITs/NITs for your engineering degree, if the high fee is an issue for you.
Yes, each year BITS Pilani increases their tuition fees. According to the official notice, for the students of the 2020-21 batch, the tuition fee will increase 9% each subsequent year, i.e. 2021-22, 2022-23, etc. The tuition fee will increase at this rate each year unless the Govt. announces any tax/levy, in which case all students will be notified regarding any change.
Yes, every private institute is bound to increase its fees with time, and so is BITS Pilani.
Being a private institute, BITS Pilani does not receive any kind of funding from outside, like IITs and NITs.
Although BITS Pilani provides an excellent set of facilities inside the campus, the overall fee is too high for most students to afford. For students from middle-class families, it is too tough to bear the B.Tech fees of BITS Pilani, even with an education loan. Even after several protests about the fees of BITS, there is no chance of a decrease in fees in the future.
