B.Tech. CSE, IIT Bombay

There are a number of reasons why most engineering aspirants prefer IIT Mumbai as their graduation college over other IITs. And I have listed some aspects of IIT Mumbai, that dream is superior to other IITs.

  • Location: One can never ignore the plethora Of opportunities in a Metro Politan, you get to socialize and make more contacts, explore, and gain a much better experience.
  • Safety: Bombay is a much safer city in comparison to Delhi. More students. Feel safe to explore the city late at night which is not possible in the case of Delhi, the city is brimming with crime.
  • Academic rigor: IIT Bombay has a rather flexible curriculum in comparison to other IITs. The recent introduction of Honors and minor systems has made it possible for students to study as per their need. This helps the students to utilize their freedom Efficiently through extracurricular activities or inculcating new skills.
  • Campus life: It is always lively with some or the other extracurricular Activities conducted by clubs and committees. This helps in the holistic Development of the student And they don’t have to just focus on academics.
  • Food: Another distinguishing feature is the availability of both north and South Indian food mainly because of its central location. On the contrary, IIT Delhi provides cheap South Indian food and IIT Madras provides cheap north Indian food. At IIT Bombay, you can satisfy your taste buds with almost any cuisine.
  • One cannot deny the fact that IIT Bombay has become the most preferred IIT mainly because of its reputation and the chief mentality adopted by engineering aspirants.

These points sum up why in my opinion, IIT Bombay is a preferable option to other IITs not only because it is popular among Engineering students, but because it deserves the reputation it has today.

B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2017)

Most top JEE rankers choose IIT Bombay, because of the reputation of the institute and the locational advantage.

If you want to pursue a job after graduation and don’t want to do an MS, then Mumbai is ideal. You can easily get lucrative jobs in Finance, Consulting, and Analytics. For these domains, your branch won’t matter much.

IIT Bombay is also a good option if you want to pursue an MS. It is an old IIT and all the branches are quite reputed. So, you will have good job opportunities after your MS.

IIT Bombay offers more possibilities to explore, this is why most top rankers choose the institute.

Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2018)

Many top-scoring JEE students choose IIT Bombay due to many reasons, from faculty, reputation to education and facilities, etc. Most of these students join IIT Bombay for reasons including -

  • IIT Bombay has built a very good reputation over the years among the aspirants with its excellent results. Around the year 2000, the top JEE scorers joined IIT Bombay instead of IIT Kanpur, and this surprised everyone. Following this, IIT Bombay began to become the first choice for every JEE topper.
  • Bombay is considered to be the best and largest metro city of India and everyone wishes to live or study there. This plays an important role in choosing IIT Bombay over other IITs. There are more places to travel, more things to do and explore and various other things which attract students.
  • The study curriculum of IIT Bombay is considered to be better than others. There are more extracurricular activities. Every week, some activities are happening around and these are very good for personal development.
  • Very few department institute fairings were held earlier like CS at Kanpur, Electrical at Madras, Chemical at Bombay. But now these things are also sorted out

As the IITs have stopped personal counseling, so now the only input we have is public perception and this is in great favor of IIT Bombay.
