B.Ed from Banaras Hindu University

IIT BHU and Banaras Hindu University are different institutes, though they share the same campus. The administration, management, and admission process everything is different for the institutes. Before becoming an IIT, IIT BHU used to be part of BHU. Now both are independent institutions. Like all IITs, IIT BHU is autonomous and makes its own decision regarding everything.

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is a university that constitutes of several institutes. IIT BHU used to be one of them. Before 2012 IIT BHU was known as IT (Institute Of Technology) BHU, a engineering course that used to come under the administration of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). But in 2012 IT BHU was designated as an IIT and therefore is no longer a part of BHU. Both are now independent institutions. Now all decisions of IIT BHU are taken like any other IIT in the country. The admission procedures are also different for the two institutes. BHU conducts its own admission test. Whereas, admission in IIT BHU can be taken by JEE ( B.Tech) and GATE (M.Tech). The only thing that is common is that the campus of IIT BHU is inside BHU. There is no wall separating the two campuses. In fact, the Metallurgy department of IIT BHU is still using the buildings of the BHU campus. The building is named Swatantrata Bhavan where all the functions and programs are held and actually shared by both campuses.
