Here are some of the preparation tips to do well in JEE Main Mathematics.

  • Focus on clearing your basics. You can follow NCERT books and other reference books such as Object Mathematics by RD Sharma.
  • Solve previous year's questions papers of JEE Main and analyze.

You should also prioritize some topics which are more scoring.

Calculus -

Almost 33% of the paper is from calculus. So, you can’t skip these topics. Integration questions are usually the most difficult, don’t omit these. Your basic knowledge of calculus should be perfect.

Vector -

It is an important section and questions from vector are usually easier and scoring. Try to practice all possible types of questions from this section.

Algebra -

Matrics and Determinants are important. Cover the basics of Permutation and Combination as there will be direct application in probability. You should also prioritize sequence series.

Coordinate Geometry -

For the first two chapters clear the basics and it will be manageable. The rest of the three topics are time-consuming.

Prioritize these topics and adopt a strategy that works best for you.

You need to have good command over 11th and 12th Mathematics, to do well in JEE Main Maths. First, go through the NCERT books thoroughly. If you can solve all the problems from NCERT books, you can go ahead further. Books by Arihant publication is a good option to consider for your further preparations. Go through the chapters and try to solve questions by yourself first. Look for the solutions, only when you can’t solve a problem and try to understand the concept. After that, you can start solving the previous years’ question papers. While solving question papers try to manage your time.

Try to keep your preparation simple. Don’t buy 2-3 books only for Maths. This can lead to confusion. If you can solve the problems from Arihant’s books, you can score well in the Mathematics section.
