I don’t know much about other IITs and am familiar with the situation in IIT Patna only. My brother is currently a student there in the Electrical branch. He says that the situation here is nothing that people with preconceived notions regarding Patna or Bihar think it to be.

IIT Patna UG EE Courses are great and it’s considered the toughest branch for a UG student like any other IITs. However, the curriculum here is very diverse and you will be introduced to both Electrical and Electronics and you can decide which one intrigues you more. You can pursue Coding and Open Source Development too as an electrical student. You will be surprised to know that IIT Patna’s best coded is a senior m of the EE Branch who cleared Google Code Jam and was also part of this year’s ACM-ICPC Team which qualified for the World Final and secured 56 Rank. There are many other examples of students who cleared GSoC.

IIT Patna also encourages its students to pursue research or go for Higher Studies. The professors and seniors offer relentless support.

The best part of IIT Patna is the plethora of options and opportunities you will have after 4 years!

B.Tech Electrical Engineering Indian Institute of Technology Patna (2021)

The college options which you are looking for are all pretty good. However, when you look for Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in these colleges you must compare the colleges on the following basis which will help you choose the best out of the options:

Infrastructure- All the above colleges provide its students with good infrastructural facilities like Library, Wi-Fi Campus, Hostel (Boys, Girls), Convenience Store, Cafeteria, Auditorium, Hospital / Medical Facilities, Sports Complex, Gym, and labs.

Fees Structure- The tuition fees at the Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jo2dhpur, and Mandi for B.Tech is respectively 2.23 lakh/year, 1.98 lakh/year, 2.14 lakh/year, 1.41 lakh/year and 2.08 lakh/year.

Rankings- In the rankings given by NIRF in 2020, IIT Dhanbad tops the position at 12th rank followed by IIT Bhubaneswar having 22nd rank, IIT Patna at 26th, IIT Mandi at 31st rank, and IIT Jodhpur having 53rd rank.

Placements- In the academic year 2018-19, the ME and EE branches at IIT Bhubaneswar had 83% and 86% placement rate respectively and the average salary package offered was around 11.4 LPA. IIT Patna offered an average of 11.49 LPA and 8.05 LPA to Mechanical and Electrical Engineering students respectively in 2019 placements. Also, Placement wise IIT Mandi has only 60% placement when it comes to Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering branch with an average placement of Rs. 13.5 LPA. In IIT Dhanbad there was 75.70% and 72.73% placement from EE and ME branches with 15.5 LPA and 14.4 LPA respectively. The 2019 placement statistics of Jodhpur revels there was 84% and 83% placement from EE and ME branches with an average CTC 16.73 LPA.

Location- IIT Patna has location-wise benefit as Patna is one of the fastest-growing cities of India and you’ll have immense exposure opportunities there.

Faculty- All the IITs will offer you good and well-qualified faculty members, it is up to the students how much efforts they put in to take away the most from them.

So looking at the above factors, it is observed that IIT Patna has an edge over the other IITs for Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering course.
