IIT Bhubaneswar is one of the most promising new IITs. One advantage of new IITs over older ones is that the number of students is lower, so teachers will know you by name and it will feel like a close-knit family. You'll be surprised to learn that newer IITs have better placement statistics because they are more focused on placement, as opposed to older IITs, which are more focused on research to improve their world rank. Dual degree programs are also an option because at the end of five years, you will have two degrees, and if you go abroad for a second master's degree, you will have completed some of the courses in your fifth year.
So you'll complete your master's degree in less than 18 months. So you'll have an extra degree for only six months more. So dual degree programs are fantastic. For God's sake, it's an IIT. Take a chance.
Mechanical Engineering is offered in IIT Bhubaneswar right from its inception whereas the dual degree in Mechanical Engineering recently started in 2016. The placement of the first batch would be in 2021 so it is quite early to talk about the placement scenario but on the other hand, the other courses in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar are quite good as it has quite decent placement every year for both the B.Tech and M.Tech batches.
In 2019, 83% of the students from B.Tech Mechanical Engineering got placements and the overall M.Tech placement rate was 68%. The average CTC offered at this IIT was around 11.4 LPA.
There are well qualified and trained professors and also the student-faculty ratio is quite good i.e. 1:9. Though it is not in the top list of the IIT’s but as per the course and placement it is a good college.
In the case of the placement, the B.Tech and M.Tech courses have good placement scenarios so the same can be expected for the dual degree course.
