IIT Dhanbad is undoubtedly a great academic institution but I think IIT Bhubaneswar is a better choice for I have myself been a student at the institution.

IIT Bhubaneswar offers excellent academic courses, research facilities and highly qualified faculty members who guide the students throughout their journey.

Lives in Jalandhar, India

If you're trying to decide between different universities or institutes, there are a few things to keep in mind. Here are some important points to consider:

  • It's important to avoid getting caught up in the hype and excitement around certain universities or institutes. While people may be very passionate about their Alma mater, it's important to approach the decision with a level head and consider all the relevant factors.
  • Don't be swayed by analogies that may not actually apply to your situation. For example, comparing universities to cars in different price ranges may not be helpful if your main concern is finding a good education that fits your needs and goals.
  • Don't dismiss a university or institute based solely on its closing ranks or other ranking metrics. These numbers can be misleading and don't necessarily reflect the quality of education or opportunities available at a given institution.
  • Don't assume that older institutions are always better than newer ones. While it's true that some older universities have a great reputation and long history of excellence, there are also many newer institutions that are carving out their own niche and offering great programs and opportunities.
  • When choosing a college, it's important to focus on your chosen field of study first and then consider other factors like location, campus culture, available resources and facilities, faculty expertise, and job placement opportunities.
  • Talk to current students and recent alumni to get a better sense of what life is really like at a particular institution. They can offer insights and advice based on their own experiences that can be invaluable when making your decision.
  • Keep in mind that your choice of university or institute will have a significant impact on your future career and personal development. It's important to take the decision seriously and do your research to make the best choice possible.

Computer Science, and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad (2019)

IIT Dhanbad is known for its rich legacy. It was established on the line with the Royal School of Mines London which is now merged with Imperial College of London.

  • ISM has two extension centers in Kolkata and Delhi. MBA, MTech are some of the programs offered at these campuses.

Placements:

The placement of IIT Dhanbad is on par with the other IITs. Placement for branches like Earth Science, Petroleum, Mining is top-notch. But placement for two branches is below IIT standards.

The placement statistics of the two institutes in 2020 are as follows.

Category

IIT Dhanbad

IIT Bhubaneswar

Average CTC

14 LPA

15 LPA

Highest CTC

43 LPA

45 LPA

Although IIT Dhanbad is technically a new IIT, it is not in the same league as the others. The rich legacy and reputation set it apart from the other new IITs. IIT Dhanbad is definitely better than IIT Bhubaneswar.
