Irrespective of the IIT tag you go for, Civil Engineering always has limited placements. Civil Engineering has become an outdated branch with little or no scope left. Although there are people who go for various options after pursuing civil engineering, which may include UPSC Examinations. What I mean is that Civil Engineering is not the right choice if your goal is placements. In that case consider ECE from ISM Dhanbad. Owing to the increased research in Machine Learning, the ECE branch is expected to grow ten folds in the coming future.
Additionally, ECE in IIT (ISM) has a pretty good coding and robotics culture, so you have both options, going for core jobs or CS jobs.
Ultimately, it’s all about personal inclinations. All I suggest is that never go for a mediocre rank just because a certain IIT is better than the other. The choice of your branch is equally important as the choice of your institute. Moreover, the Civil engineering scenario is similar in every IITs.
The condition of the branch of civil engineering is not pretty good at IIT Mandi. They do not have sufficient faculty and the placement support is very poor when compared to other institutions. You can look for other colleges for civil engineering. If you are looking for a branch change, then you can switch to CSE after the completion of your first year.

One of my friends completed his Civil Engineering from DCRUST. Here are his insights.
Although the campus placement may not give you many core jobs for civil engineering at DCRUST, there are various Govt. jobs that you can prepare for. You can also pursue higher studies. Overall, DCRUST is a decent option for pursuing a Civil Engineering degree.
It is better to pursue civil engineering from IIT BHU in comparison to IIT Dhanbad. The reasons for choosing IIT BHU for pursuing Civil engineering are as follows:
In conclusion, selecting IIT BHU for civil engineering is a decision rooted in wisdom and potential. The institution's esteemed reputation, world-class faculty, cutting-edge research opportunities, and robust infrastructure make it a top choice for aspiring civil engineers. Choosing IIT BHU signifies a commitment to academic excellence and a stepping stone toward a promising future in the field of civil engineering.
A close friend of mine is an alumnus of IIT Gandhinagar and she vouches for their Civil Engineering course. Here is what she shared from her experience.

As far as the metallurgy department is concerned, it’s difficult to get a good percentage but the curriculum is decent.
When deciding on which engineering branch to pursue, it is important to choose that interests you the most. If you are trying to choose between mechanical engineering at Jadavpur University and civil engineering at MNNIT Allahabad, it is important to consider your own personal interests and career aspirations.
You should go for the engineering branch that you like the most. This way, you will be able to enjoy your studies throughout your four years at the institute, and also during your future career.
Choosing an engineering branch based solely on external factors such as job availability or pay can lead to a lack of motivation and interest, which can ultimately negatively impact your academic performance and career growth. Therefore, it is crucial to choose an engineering branch that you are truly passionate about.
To determine which engineering branch is right for you, take some time to research and understand the differences between mechanical and civil engineering. Consider your strengths, interests, and career goals. Try to talk to professionals or alumni in both fields to gain insight into their daily work and experiences.
Remember, your decision is ultimately yours to make. Choose the engineering branch that you are truly excited about, and that will give you the best chance of success and personal fulfillment.

Placements
BITS, Goa is a much more recognised institution than Nirma University which reflects in its rankings. BITS also score higher in terms of placements, infrastructure and facilities available at the two institutions. With a lower fees structure and better facilities, BITS Goa would be a much more secure option between the two colleges.
PES University was ranked as the 6th best private university out of 50 universities in India by outlook in 2019. It is also ranked 93 for private engineering by NIRF 2020. The college is recognized by UGC, AICTE, and AACSB. It is one of the top private universities in Bangalore. The high rankings of the college don’t show the poor placements which the college has offered in the past year.
Placements:
As compared to the previous years, the placements offered at PES University in core companies are fewer in number for the academic year 2019.
Companies visit the college, but many of the students opting for higher students opt-out for the placements. Making the placement percentage high because of the fewer students present at the placement.
There were a number of companies that recruited students. But in recent years the placement of the college in the Civil Engineering course has not been up the mark as promised by the college.
However, if you have a keen interest in Civil engineering, then you should not change their branch. Placements are not the only thing that needs to be focused on. Changing the branch will also not make any much difference as both the courses EEE and Civil Engineering provide more or less the same average package that is Rs 3-4 LPA. However, keep in mind that in recent times, there are also other colleges that are not able to fulfill the promised core placements for Civil.
Although Civil Engineering has poor core placements, there are many non-core companies which allow the students of Civil to sit for the placement. The average CTC offered by the non-core IT companies visiting the campus for the placement drive is 10 LPA.
Therefore, a student should keep in mind all the factors when changing a branch and not solely look at placements.
