My friend studies in NIT Surathkal and the 295-acre campus is exquisite. My friend resides in the hostel there and he has shared his experience with me. 

To begin with, there are 5 girls’ hostel blocks named as follows- GH1, GH2, GH3, GH4, and GH5. The recent addition to the already existing 4 blocks, is the GH5, and it is the best one of the lot but is available to only some final year students after qualifying for the lucky draw. 

Here are some more particulars:

• In the first and second year, you will have to share a room with 2 or even 3 students. As you move to the 3rd and subsequently 4th year, you will be able to get a single occupancy hostel room. The hostels’ buildings are further divided on the basis of the course you select in the first year.
• There are time restrictions though for girls, as follows- 7:30 for first-year students and 9:30 for the subsequent years.
• As for facilities available in the hostels; there is a night canteen, a mess with ice cream serving twice a week, and a shopping complex with grocery and fruit shops. 
• In the room, there are chairs, a table, a steel bed, and an almirah.

All these hostels have WiFi or LAN available, but the connectivity is good only in the newly constructed GH5.

One of my friends studied at IET Lucknow and availed the hostel. According to him the college campus and the ambiance is really good.

• The hostel on the campus consists of a bed, tube light, table, and a fan.
• Rest of the things you will have to purchase by yourself. Like the bedding materials, pillow, mattress, bed table, almirahs and many more.
• There is one online portal named Rent le where you will find all these materials and furniture.
• They will deliver at your doorstep and your tedious task of purchasing from the market and bringing it to the hostel room will get reduced.
• Also, the prices of all the products in the portal are quite reasonable.
• All you need to log in to the page and customize your offerings, they will deliver it to the hostel gate.
• Although the first-year rooms are very good, you just need to make little adjustments for this.

Apart from the basic necessities, the hostels have a good electrical supply, the washrooms are clean, the college Wi-Fi also provides good speed as well. The mess food is hygienic and you will find that the food tastes like home-cooked food. The mess hall is fully air conditioned as well.

If you are planning to apply to MNIT, the course fee depends on the course you wish to take as the fee differs from course to course. The table below should provide you with some information on this.

In a few courses like B. Tech, you might have to pay the fee semester-wise than for the complete year. This fee structure also includes a hostel fee, but you might have to pay separately for the mess which costs more or less about INR 13,000 per semester. You might get refunded with INR 2000 or 3000 from this at the end of the year.

Below listed are the hostel and mess charge at Punjab Engineering College. 

• You will be charged INR 56,00 for the hostel fee and mess establishment charges annually. 
• Mess charges are not included in hotel fees, which have to be paid every month. The approx mess charges are INR 2500.
• You also need to pay INR 9000 as maintenance charges and a refundable security amount of INR 5000.
• The total amount for hostel and mess facilities will be INR 73,100 

Let’s know about the room facilitates at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.

1. Each hostel room has a WiFi facility. The connection sometimes slows down, which might cause inconvenience. 
2. Hostellers are provided with a fully automatic washing machine. 
3. The hostel has AC Common room, where every student can visit it.
4. There is no time restriction in the PEC boys hostel.
5. You can enjoy a meal at night mess and enjoy Maggie, Bread, Egg, or Milk. 

Therefore, life at Punjab Engineering College hotel is good. Also, its fees keep on increasing every year. Make sure to keep yourself updated. Overall the hostel fees of PEC are pretty decent. However, you cannot enjoy your privacy here.

NIT Goa is still operating from its temporary campus located at Farmagudi, Goa which is approximately 29 km from the state capital at Panaji. It is functioning temporarily from the campus of Goa Engineering College (GEC). 

Due to its limited facilities, it currently offers accommodation to only outstation students. However, only 2 options are available - a shared accommodation on campus or in a rented building close to the campus.

For students who are natives of Goa, the institute does not provide any accommodation facilities. You can either travel to and fro the campus or take up privately rented apartment rooms and PGs in the college vicinity. 

The hostel at NIT Puducherry is amazing with all the required facilities available. There are two hostels, one for boys and another one for girls. In the next 1–2 years, more hostels with single rooms will be built.

Following are a few details about the hostel and the facilities it offers:

• There is a mess on the first floor of each hostel. As a result, you won't have to walk far to eat your meal. The mess food is better than that of most other government colleges.
• There are two big lifts in each hostel. As a result, you will not have to climb many stairs.
• Each floor of the hostel has high-speed Wi-Fi and LAN, as well as water coolers, two large washrooms, and fire extinguishers, and fire alarms.
• On each floor, there is a common room with a television. You can watch movies, sports, and other entertainment.
• The rooms are spacious and well-maintained.
• There are security available 24 hours a day, and they are quite helpful.
• Most importantly, from the boy's hostel, you can see the enormous expanse of the Bay of Bengal sea. For those who do not live near the coast, the view is breathtaking.
• Due to the sea, there is a cool breeze for 24 hours.

Overall, it is a great institute with the best facilities.

IIM Rohtak campus is far from the main city of Rohtak and is situated on a highway. So accommodation has to be provided to the students. It’s a 200-acre campus and has ample space for hostels in its existing campus.

The offer letter which the IIM Rohtak authorities sent to the selected students clearly stated that they had to pay an amount of INR 4.10 lakhs for the first year of the 5 years Integrated Program in Management (IPM) at the institute which covers the tuition fee, room rent, and other relevant fees though not including security deposits, study materials, alumni membership fee, and some other fees.

Clearly you will be getting hostels for the IPM courses as well. Do not believe in rumors stating otherwise.

One of my cousins graduated from BIMTECH and here are a few things you should know before proceeding to any conclusion.

• BIMTECH is located on a composite, fully air-conditioned, Wi-Fi-enabled, residential campus in Greater Noida. 
• It enjoys the location advantage in the National Capital Region, a few kilometers from the capital of India. 
• The campus environment is highly conducive to academic learning.
• BIMTECH has adequate on & off-campus hostel facilities for the students. 
• Both hostels provide at-par ultra-modern living environs. 
• Rooms in hostels can be used on a single or twin sharing basis.

It provides comfortable living with facilities such as – A Tuck Shop, Gym & Sports Facility, Salon & Beauty Parlour, Bus Transport to Noida, Communication & Reprographic, Bank ATM on Campus, Round-the-clock Campus Security and 24X7 on-campus Ambulance, etc. Most items are available in and around the hostel. You can arrange for them. 

Heritage Institute of Technology is one of the most prominent institutions in West Bengal. Being spread in a vast area it has got on-campus accommodation for its students. There are a total of 4 hostels for boys and 6 hostels are for girls on-campus.

Following are the basic amenities offered at these:

• Meals are provided 3 times a day. You can make your own mini-meals.
• Facilities such as High-Speed Internet connectivity via Wi-Fi and/or LAN 
• Access to sporting and recreational zones.

Apart from this, you will also be able to find a few off-campus housing properties: 

• Private Housing: These are similar to on-campus housing facilities. The rooms are offered on a twin or triple sharing basis including food and internet. The rent for these rooms can range from INR 5000-5500. The names for few such hostels are M.B Hostel, Saraswati Hostel, And Vivekananda Hostel.
• Shared Housing: For such rooms, you might have to share the rooms with 3-4 students. You have to arrange your own facilities. The rent will vary depending on the facilities available ranging from INR 3000-8000 per person.

All are equally beneficial. On-campus students however have strict norms regarding timing, which is not the case for those living in off-campus housing.
