How is the hostel at NIT Durgapur?
During my B.Tech from NIT Durgapur, I stayed at Halls-9,3 and 5. I can tell you about the condition of these halls.
The infrastructure of these hostel buildings is in a poor and dilapidated state. They are located in one corner of the campus. The rooms are old, and these halls aren’t well maintained. The mess food isn’t good.
Despite all of this, you’ll find solace in your hostel rooms. You’ll form close bonds with your hostelmates. Once you move out of NIT Durgapur, you’ll miss these times. Over here, you’ll enjoy plenty of freedom with practically no responsibilities.
For the most part, the condition of hostels isn’t good. Still, you’ll eventually adapt to this place. You’ll form close friendships and lifelong memories over here.
How are the girls hostels at NIT Surathkal?
My friend studies in NIT Surathkal and the 295-acre campus is exquisite. My friend resides in the hostel there and he has shared his experience with me.
To begin with, there are 5 girls’ hostel blocks named as follows- GH1, GH2, GH3, GH4, and GH5. The recent addition to the already existing 4 blocks, is the GH5, and it is the best one of the lot but is available to only some final year students after qualifying for the lucky draw.
Here are some more particulars:
- In the first and second year, you will have to share a room with 2 or even 3 students. As you move to the 3rd and subsequently 4th year, you will be able to get a single occupancy hostel room. The hostels’ buildings are further divided on the basis of the course you select in the first year.
- There are time restrictions though for girls, as follows- 7:30 for first-year students and 9:30 for the subsequent years.
- As for facilities available in the hostels; there is a night canteen, a mess with ice cream serving twice a week, and a shopping complex with grocery and fruit shops.
- In the room, there are chairs, a table, a steel bed, and an almirah.
All these hostels have WiFi or LAN available, but the connectivity is good only in the newly constructed GH5.
How are the hostel facilities in the Manipal Institute of Technology?
Manipal Institute of Technology has one of the best hostel facilities in India. Depending on your budget you can either opt for a single occupancy room with an AC or a triple occupancy room with no AC and a common bathroom. But you don’t have to worry as the common baths are very well maintained and hygiene is taken care of.
- There are washing machines and dryers on every floor. There are also facilities for Solar water heaters, so you can get hot water throughout the day.
- The hostels are well-secured, especially for girls and the hostel wardens are very friendly too.
- There is a night canteen that serves food till 1 am.
So, Manipal Institute Of Technology has one of the best hostel facilities in India so you can put your worries to rest!
What are some hostels or PGs near Amity University, Noida?
There are many choices for hostels and PGs near Amity University Noida. Some of which are given below.
Amity hostel:
Pros-
- It offers quality on-campus life.
- You can make good friends over there.
- It is closer to the university campus.
Cons-
- The canteen food is expensive, costing around 20,000 per month.
- The place is not maintained properly. The rooms are cramped up.
- It costs around 30,000 per month for an AC room.
Placio:
- Pros- There are no curfew hours. According to student reviews, it is a more secure option.
- Cons- The basic amenities are provided by the same PGs owners.
Flats:
- Pros- You get to live independently by your own rules.
- Cons- You will face problems regarding laundry, food, etc. Staying in a flat can be a security concern for some parents.
Good Options- Jaypee Flats, ATS Flats, Golden Palm Flats, etc.
Nearby PGs:
- Pros- Laundry, food services are provided by PG
- Cons- You need to obey the rules of the PG you choose.
Good options- Addo Luxuria, Jaypee Honest, Virat Mansion, etc
You should go for nearby PGs in sector 126, these are most comfortable. Addo Luxuria is great in terms of food and interior.
What are the basic requirements in the hostels of the IET Lucknow and which is the nearest stop to buy them?
One of my friends studied at IET Lucknow and availed the hostel. According to him the college campus and the ambiance is really good.
- The hostel on the campus consists of a bed, tube light, table, and a fan.
- Rest of the things you will have to purchase by yourself. Like the bedding materials, pillow, mattress, bed table, almirahs and many more.
- There is one online portal named Rent le where you will find all these materials and furniture.
- They will deliver at your doorstep and your tedious task of purchasing from the market and bringing it to the hostel room will get reduced.
- Also, the prices of all the products in the portal are quite reasonable.
- All you need to log in to the page and customize your offerings, they will deliver it to the hostel gate.
- Although the first-year rooms are very good, you just need to make little adjustments for this.
Apart from the basic necessities, the hostels have a good electrical supply, the washrooms are clean, the college Wi-Fi also provides good speed as well. The mess food is hygienic and you will find that the food tastes like home-cooked food. The mess hall is fully air conditioned as well.

In a few courses like B. Tech, you might have to pay the fee semester-wise than for the complete year. JIPMER messes serve good quality food. You can either pay the monthly fee and have your meals in a single mess, or you can visit any mess and pay for that meal. You can also change your mess monthly. This is a really good system as it helps beat monotony.
The common mess serves both North and South Indian dishes, separately. Addons like chicken 65, fish, omelet, egg, chicken gravy, etc. can be obtained at very affordable prices. The breakfast consists of idli, dosa, Pongal, poori, bread, jam, and sometimes noodles as well.
During lunch, you’ll get rice, sambhar, rasam, curd, one vegetable, chapati/poori, curry, salad, and papad. The messes serve good snacks with beverages. During dinner, Uthappam/Poori/chapati with rice and curry is served. Dosas, juices, cold drinks, and other food items are available in the common mess and cafeterias at very cheap prices.
The hostel food at JIPMER is of good quality and good taste. The best part is that the meals are very affordable.
