how we can apply for bsc in history if i am from science stream?

For History, you have to do BA in History and not BSc in History. As for the eligibility, yes science students are eligible for BA in History. Most colleges conduct merit-based admissions so make sure your 12th score is good enough. Some colleges even conduct entrance exams to shortlist the students for which you will have to prepare beforehand. Most top colleges accept marks higher than 85%.

The B.Sc Data Science program launched by IIT Madras is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the field of data science. This field is becoming increasingly important as more and more organizations rely on data to make decisions.

This course is a back door entry to IIT Madras and is a great option for aspirants desperate to be a part of the Institute but unable to clear JEE. These students also become a part of the IIT Madras alumni network and avail all the facilities of the Institute from e-library to fests.

This trend has been long-run by foreign universities like GaTech, UMich, UIUC, and UT Austin offering online MS courses. India is still lagging behind and only IIT Madras has been able to take this step till now.

  • This program has 2 entry and 3 exit points, with a capacity of 2,50,000 students, with no eligibility criteria
  • Even class 12 pass outs are eligible for this course provided they have studied Mathematics and English
  • The program covers a wide range of topics, including statistics, machine learning, data visualization, and big data.
  • Students will work on real-world projects and case studies, allowing them to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting.

Overall, B.Sc Data Science program at IIT Madras is a great choice for students interested in a career in data science. It provides them with the skills necessary to succeed in this field.

How is the overall percentage calculated in IGNOU BSc in zoology?

SS
Sophia Singh Posted On : November 2nd, 2022
B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (2020)

IGNOU BSc has 2 types of subjects - Theory and Practical. It’s further divided into - Assignments and Term end theory exams.

In order to calculate total marks in a paper out of 100 - Assignment marks* 0.3 + Theory marks*0.7. The calculated sum will be your overall marks out of 100.

To know the actual marks that will be on your marks sheet follow this rule:

For theory-

  • If it is a 4 credits course divide the marks by 2.

  • If it is a six-credit course, divide it by 4/3.

  • If it is a 2 credit course divide it by 4

  • This is because 8,6,4,2 credit courses have total marks out of 100, 75, 50 & 25 respectively.

For practical-

It has two parts - Lab 1 and Lab 2

Total marks out of 100 = Lab 1 mark*0.7 + Lab 2 marks*0.3. To calculate total marks follow the same rule mentioned above. Total credits in BSc-96

Therefore total marks will be 96/8=12 hundred.=1200

Net percentage will be = Total marks out of 1200 /Twelve hundred multiplied by 100 .

Is it valuable doing MA after Bsc from IGNOU?

RM
Renuka Mahesh Posted On : November 3rd, 2022
MTM from Indira Gandhi National Open University (Graduated 2017)

No, it’s not valuable for someone to go for an MA after graduating from science. Unless you have a specific target or reason behind pursuing PG in arts it’s not recommended at all.

The course you are opting for should have a direct connection with the industry you are planning to enter. Focus on your goal and pursue the program related to that specific field.

People with no specific goals regarding the industry or profession are much more likely to come across such questions. Redefine and recognise your goals and then if it still suits you best, go for PG in arts.

Is Holkar Science College good for a B.Sc. in CS/PCM, if I couldn't secure admission in DU due to some family reasons?

DY
Disha Yadav, Posted On : November 22nd, 2021
studied at Holkar Science College, Indore (2017)

No, Holkar Science College might not be a good option for B.Sc. One of my friends studied there and according to him the college lacked many things.

There was no proper infrastructure, Buildings were neglected of proper care and maintenance. The ambience and the student crowd is not healthy. As most of them do not have any ambition or interest in learning new things. The students are also not competitive enough, which makes them less dedicated towards their studies.

Even the faculties are careless and do not bother much if the student is learning anything or not. They often skip classes which ultimately leads to not completing the syllabus.

No cultural events or extracurricular activities take place here. It is suggested that you look for other options, compare them with it and then finalize.

Which option is better, IIT Roorkee for geological technology or IIT Kharagpur for applied geology and exploration geophysics?

AC
Anumita Chatterjee Posted On : March 23rd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK)

There are many reasons why I will suggest you to go for IIT Kharagpur for applied geology and exploration geophysics. Some of these reasons include,

  • Being an older IIT, IIT KGP has a much broader alumni base than Roorkee which in turn proves to be useful for higher education.
  • In case you lose interest in Core geology you are always open to sitting for non-core placements which are in abundance at IIT KGP because of the alumni network.
  • The curriculum at IIT KGP is way better than Roorkee in the sense that it is rigorous and much more industry relevant than Roorkee.
  • IIT KGP has good administrative support and one can get funded for conferences.
  • Being an MSc course, you can avail INSPIRE Scholarship given that you have a good GPA.

These points are more than enough of a deciding factor for you.

Which is better to join, IIT Madras online course or UpGrad? IIT Madras is offering a BSc in data science and programming and UpGrad is offering PG diploma.

AS
Aditi Sengupta Posted On : March 30th, 2023
Studied at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

Without any second thoughts, choose BSc Data Science from IIT Madras. Upgrad course is just an additional course between you and your degree from IIT Madras.

Choosing BSc program from IIT Madras will offer many perks

  • You become a part of the extensive alumni network of IIT Madras
  • You will be able to avail of Institute placements
  • Fee waived based on your income criteria
  • You can clear your doubt directly from the IIT Madras faculty. They are highly approachable.
  • Weekly evaluation maintains the quality standards of the course and makes it one of the best Distance Education Programs.
  • The online course from Upgrad awards you just a certificate while that from IIT Madras awards you a degree.
  • The exams of Upgrad are conducted online whereas BSc exams are conducted offline at exam centers highly under the surveillance of examiners.
  • There is a fixed duration (3-4) of the BSc program which is absent in the case of the Upgrad course.
  • Your CV will be bestowed with an IIT tag, known worldwide while the Upgrad course is rarely known outside India.
  • Internship opportunities are available under the BSc course thus offering much more exposure than Upgrad where you are expected to be already employed.

Upgrad is suitable only for those who are working full-time and cannot pursue a full-time course. Else, BSc should be your first option. This course can be pursued full-time and gives enough time to prepare simultaneously for many things like the Civil services exam, and CAT exam or inculcating skills like drawing, painting, music, etc.
