How can I prepare to smartly target the CAT or the IIM Indore exam?

AS

Studies MBA (Business Analytics) at IIM Indore (2020)

The PG programs in IIM Indore usually consider admissions through the CAT exam. However, in case you are referring to the IPM AT for the 5-year integrated program, then it cannot be compared to CAT, since they are completely different from each other. IPM AT is for UG students while CAT is for PG courses.

Having said that, the basic preparation steps for any entrance exam need basic steps of preparation.

  • You should be aware of the exams, as well as the pattern, the syllabus, and others. For similar purposes, you can take a look at the sample papers of previous years, or several mock test papers, if required.
  • You must assess your own level of aptitude, whenever necessary, and prepare thoroughly.
  • You should work to strengthen your fundamental knowledge.
  • Evaluate your base by taking the mock test papers and analyze each answer when done. Further, prepare a strategy that can incentivize your scores in the exam.

These are the basic steps to look forward to when preparing for the exam.

PK
Priyanka Khanna Posted On : August 25th, 2021
M.Sc. in Mathematics from Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University (2022)

One of my friends graduated from IIM Indore. According to him no one book can get you the entire arena. You need updated material, mocks, analysis, mentor , corrective measures and doubts resolution mechanism.

His recommendation is that you start your preparation from your 12th grade. Here are some suggestions –

  • You should have a copy of the syllabus.
  • Make a schedule.
  • Determine the most significant themes and questions.
  • Revise the concepts.
  • Make a few quick notes.
  • Prepare for brief questions as well.
  • Make a list of relevant flowcharts and diagrams, as well as significant notes for that subject.
  • Practice the crucial diagrams and flowcharts from your golden book one day before the exam.
  • If at all feasible, give a mock test.

R S Aggarwal's books Verbal and Nonverbal Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude are useful books you can follow. Also these can be obtained from the experts' test preparation books.

How do I prepare for IIM Indore (IPM) without coaching?

AA

If answering questions is a habit for you, the NCERT book is sufficient. Be sure to read through each and every example. The quant portion would be more or less covered by that.

You can purchase a few competitive books by local authors for the logical reasoning, comprehension, and related section, which calls for time-bound critical thinking. As much as you can, speak English with your friends.

Keep in mind that the foundation must be solid. Try using your fundamental knowledge to step-by-step solve even the most challenging problems. Even if you think the practice questions are simple, don't skip any. Solve problems using paper and a computer. To learn time management, take practice tests.

How do I clear Anna University exams without any arrears?

Lived in Nagore.

Assuming you are writing in the exam room, you are required to complete an answer sheet for a question paper at home within the allotted time. Practice the fundamentals for questions worth two points, and remember that examiners won't read long answers; instead, try to highlight the key points. Diagrams convey more details as well as marks. Simply put, they will check the points. Just stick to topics that are direct and highly profitable.

You must not overlook any derivatives when attempting to solve a math problem. Even if your response to the question is accurate, the examiners may not give you full credit. They award points up to the point where you failed to write the proper derivatives.

MBBS from Govt Medical College Srinagar (2010)

After doing some research online, I gathered some information regarding your question. Let me mention these which you can later analyze and check if it is useful or not.

  • It is an online MCQ-based Post Graduate entrance exam for direct MCh Neurosurgery, DM neurology, and MD Psychiatry courses.
  • The exams are usually held in the last week of March.
  • It is a 2-hour long exam and comprises 150 MCQ-based questions.
  • 1 mark is given for every correct answer and ¼ mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • 90-100 questions generally come from the routine subjects studied during MBBS. These are similar to the ones asked in other entrance exams like AIIMS and JIPMER.
  • 50-60 MCQs are related to Neurology sections of all other subjects like anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, pathology, ophthalmology, medicine, surgery, psychiatry, radiology, and anesthesia.

For preparing Neurology you can take help from the following books:

  • Harrison for Neurology
  • Ganong for Neuro-Physiology
  • Snell's Neuro-Anatomy
  • Neuro-Biochemistry from Harper
  • Neuro-Microbiology from Paniker
  • Neuro-Pharmacology from KDT
  • Neuro-Pathology from Robbins

Try solving the previous 4 to 5 years of any NIMHANS MCQ guide. Also, try to score 120-130, this will secure your place among the top rankers.
