Which is better, metallurgy in NIT Jamshedpur or IT in Jadavpur University?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 6th, 2023

Both Metallurgy at NIT Jamshedpur and IT at Jadavpur University seem to be good options so the choice really depends on your preferences. I hope you aren't someone who is obsessed with tags because, in the long run, the tag of your college does not even matter. Moreover, both NIT Jamshedpur and Jadavpur University have a considerably good reputation in the industry. However, it's true that Nit Jamshedpur metallurgy placements are slightly better than JU metallurgy placements because of their favorable location. JU IT placements are decent too with many 20_ LPA offers. Here is why I will suggest you go for JU IT instead of NIT Jamshedpur Metallurgy

  • Metal processing units are not very favorable working places if you are considering getting employed after graduation.
  • JU has a good record of students opting for higher studies from all departments every year.
  • JU is ranked 6th in India in research after IISC and other top IITs. Its professors have collaborations with foreign universities and their Letters of Recommendation carry great value.
  • Location-ise Kolkata is a much better place than Jamshedpur.

Additionally, consider the following table before making the final choice.

Which is better: IT at IIIT Allahabad or Biotechnology at IIT Kharagpur? (Considering no special inclination)?

AD
Ajay Diwan Posted On : March 27th, 2023
Studied at IIT Kharagpur

I would any day recommend you to join IIT Kharagpur as it is the oldest IIT and well established today. Here are some strong points that might convince you to join IIT Kharagpur:

  • Irrespective of the branch you choose, you will get similar exposure and campus life as everyone else.
  • You can easily crack noncore companies offering excellent packages given that you have a good CGPA
  • The extensive alumni pool comes to your rescue at some point in your life.
  • It is specifically a good choice for those who aren’t inclined towards a specific branch as they can explore various fields and get maximum opportunities.
  • The IIT tag is enough for a brand name that will help you outside the country for higher education
  • People consider you geniuses just after knowing about your IIT background and you are expected to excel everywhere
  • It’s not an overstatement to say that IIT has the best peer group among other Engineering colleges.
  • There is a certain type of bias that makes IITs a much-preferred candidate for the best job profiles.
  • Lastly, the Biotech department at IIT has excellent professors, great research opportunities and a few foreign internships offers as well.

Except for CS and ECE, all the other branches get similar treatments during the open to all placements of IIT KGP.

Which one between NIT Surathkal IT and NIT Warangal CSE should I choose?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : September 16th, 2023

NIT Surathkal and NIT Warangal are both top NITs.

IT and CSE are both related to tech and computers. Both these branches offer equal opportunities. Also, the curriculum is the same for both. NITW is placed 21st in the 2023 NIRF engineering rankings. On the other hand, NITK is placed 12th.

The placements offered at both these colleges are pretty good. During 2023 placements at NITW, B.Tech CSE students recorded 99.4% placement. The average package stood at INR 30.5 LPA, and the highest package stood at INR 88 LPA for B.Tech CSE. As for NITK, last year the IT department achieved the highest package of INR 45 LPA.

Thus, both options are equally good. So you can go for either IT at NITK or CSE at NITW.

What should be my preference between NIT Kurukshetra IT branch and NIT Jalandhar CSE branch?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 1st, 2023
lives in New Delhi

Pursuing CSE from any Tier-1 college will be very beneficial for your career as it’s one of the most coveted branches today.

NIT Jalandhar all three branches CSE, IT, and ECE are the top ones with excellent placements. These branches offer excellent job opportunities irrespective of the fact that you know how to code or not. Students of these branches are placed in companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Samsung, Flipkart, Paytm, and even Google. Additionally, a 6-month internship program in the 8th semester is offered wherein you can intern in any company (off-campus or on-campus) and earn while being a student.

So, you can put your worries to rest if you are only concerned about placements.

Which one should be chosen, a CS/IT at NIT Kurukshetra or an ECE at IIIT Delhi?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : October 19th, 2023

IIT Delhi is the best option because it is the fastest-growing institute and is efficient at offering quality education to students. They are implausible on the tech side, so if you are passionate about becoming a techie, opt for IIT Delhi. They also ensure good campus life, well-qualified faculties, and infrastructure facilities for the students

So, IIT Delhi would be a better pick, especially for the CSE or ECE branch.

What should I chose between IIT Mandi Electrical and IIIT Allahabad IT?

SK
Sabitha Krutarth Posted On : May 24th, 2023

Both IIT Mandi and IIIT Allahabad are reputable institutions with strong programs in their respective fields. IIT Mandi offers an Electrical Engineering program, while IT Allahabad offers an Information Technology program. If you are interested in pursuing a career in electrical engineering, then IT Mandi would be the better choice. On the other hand, if you are more interested in information technology and computer science, then IT Allahabad would be the better choice. It is important to note that both programs are challenging and will require a significant amount of hard work and dedication. I recommend researching both institutions and their programs thoroughly before making a decision and considering your own interests and career goals.

I am the right person to answer your question because my brother is a student of IIIT Allahabad and is pursuing an IT dual degree while my elder setter is pursuing an EE at IIT Mandi. I can give you a better insight into the combined scenario as I have knowledge of both sides.

IIT Mandi Electrical

  • IIT Mandi is a good choice for both EE and CSE.
  • The branch change policy is quite lenient and thus you can end up in your favorite branch easily.
  • IIT Mandi was the first new IIT to shift to its permanent campus in 2015.
  • IIT Mandi has a surreal campus and is surrounded by natural beauty.
  • Owing to the small batch size, the opportunities offered are better and there is less competition in placements.
  • IIT Mandi has a wide range of sports activities going on which are supported by great sports facilities.
  • IIT Mandi also provides you with the much coveted IIT tag.

IIIT Allahabad IT

  • IIIT Allahabad promises better faculty, coding culture, and infrastructure than IIT Mandi.
  • It provides the resources and opportunities necessary for becoming an excellent IT engineer.
  • IIIT has a better alumni network and most of its alumni are working today in top positions in silicon valley.
  • IIIT Allahabad placements are slightly better than IIT Mandi.

Location-wise, both give an edge to each other with IIITAhmadabad at a slight advantage. Overall, if you prefer a more dynamic campus life, IIT Mandi is for you but if you are just fixated on placements and academics, IIIT Allahabad is a better choice.

Should I opt for IIT Guwahati for biotech or MNNIT Allahabad for IT?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : May 6th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

Both IIT Guwahati for Biotech and MNNIT Allahabad for IT are extremely different courses in terms of the scope they offer.

Go for Biotechnology only if you are genuinely interested in it because core placements are miserable and there is a dearth of job opportunities. Most students get placed in Analytics and other non-core sectors and only a few manage to secure a core job. So go for this only if you want to pursue higher studies.

MNNIT Allahabad’s IT program offers excellent job opportunities but lacks in terms of research and exposure. The coding culture is very good here but the academics is poor. The placement scenario is great second only to CS placements. If you aren’t sure enough consider the following points before making the final choice

  • Infrastructure: IIT Guwahati has excellent infrastructure and a very beautiful campus in contrast to MNNIT Allahabad.
  • Sports: MNNIT lacks sports facilities and No importance is given to extracurricular activities.
  • Location: IIT Guwahati with its serene campus and location is a clear winner in contrast to MNNIT Allahabad’s pathetic climate and lack of places to explore.
  • Fests: The quality of fests held at MNNIT is very low compared to fests organized by IIT Guwahati.

Concludingly, if you have a specific preference for research and higher education, go for IIT Guwahati else MNNIT Allahabad is the best option for you.
