Completed PhD Media Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2020

More than 80% of the female students of Patna University and in the colleges under the same like Magadh Mahila College, P Women’s College, PSC, etc. They promote the education of women. Patna University is backed by the state government and is one of the 20 best universities in the country.

  • Through scholarships, you can make the most of your tenure as a student at this university.
  • At Patna University, there is almost zero tolerance between the faculty and the students.
  • The few good professors in the university do not help much in giving the university a good name.
  • In the case of Jawaharlal Nehru University, however, you will be taught by some of the most qualified and experienced teachers in the country.
  • You will not feel like you are left out.
  • The classrooms are vibrant and interactive and the university helps you in nurturing your skills.
  • You will guarantee yourself a good career if you choose JNU.
Categories Patna University Jawaharlal Nehru University
Placement Percentage 60-80% 80-90%
Highest CTC 16-18 LPA 22-28 LPA
Average CTC 3-6 LPA 15-16 LPA

The highest package offered to the students of JNU can be as high as INR 12-15 LPA. Some of the top recruiters include Oracle, Siemens, Wipro, Cognizant, Google, Amazon, etc. Comparing Patna University and JNU might not be justified, as both stand in different leagues of colleges.

MLISC from University of Delhi (2021)

You should choose JNU for MA in Philosophy. It offers better learning opportunities. JNU is also the best economical choice. MA Philosophy from JNU costs only INR 654.

JNU has wonderful History, Aesthetics, and Sociology department. This is an advantage if you want your Philosophy course to be thoroughly interdisciplinary. The residential university life of JNU is a unique learning experience in itself.

I have 49.9%marks in BSc.(cs) .is it possible to get admission for MCA in jnu

GA

Economics from Banaras Hindu University (Graduated 2018)

Applicants can check the eligibility criteria for JNUEE MCA below:

  • Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Candidates should have adequate competence in Mathematics
  • Their pattern of Education should have been 10+2+3 pattern
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 55% in Bachelor's degree.

According to the eligibility criteria, the minimum marks for the qualifying degree should not be less than the aggregate of 55% marks for all unreserved category candidates. For OBC-NCL there is a 10% marks relaxation and for SC/ST/PWD candidates, the minimum pass mark is required. Also, there is no age limit to apply for this course. Looking at your profile and your graduation score of 49.9% does not seem very promising as it does not align with the required criteria. So unless you belong to a reserved category, it is almost impossible for you to get admission to JNU for MCA.

Between JNU and Delhi School Of Economics, which option will be the best to pursue a PhD in economics for an individual?

TA

Lives in New Delhi

Ph.D. is different from other degrees in which you learn and take exams. During your Ph.D. you need a research guide who takes an interest in your work and is involved in active research in the same field as you.

Unless your guide is active in research, they can not guide you. Here research refers to publishable research in good journals.

Your field of research will determine the better option out of the two to pursue your Ph.D. in Economics. If say, you wish to work on Marxism/Communism or related topics, CESP JNU is the right choice for you. You will find ample assistance in JNU.

If you wish to work in Micro Theory such as on Contract theory or Industrial Organization, DSE will be the right option. There are more faculty members in DSE than CITD JNU who work in these areas.

If you wish to work on DSGE literature ( Macro), the guide will exist as a formality and you will be on your own for the most part. This field of research is not pursued by most in India and you will mostly have to rely on yourself.

Also, if you wish to work in the corporate after your Ph.D. , join DSE as it offers very good placements. JNU does not offer on campus placements. The economics at JNU though, is very enriching. There you will be exposed to a variety of subjects, debates, etc.

You must choose between JNU and DSE for your Ph.D. Economics, based on your personal preference and your field of research.

I want to pursue a master's in economics. Which one should I choose: Delhi School of Economics, JNU, Indian Statistical Institute, Paris-Sorbonne University or University of Munich?

SG
Snigdha Goyal Posted On : July 8th, 2022
Studied at Delhi School of Economics

All of these institutes are excellent choices for a masters in Economics. If you want to study Quantitative and Mathematical Economics, then ISI will be the best option among these. ISI Kolkata placements are pretty good. Students get recruited as Data scientists, Financial Analysts, Risk Analysts, and other similar positions. You will get good scopes for higher studies as well.

DSE is an excellent option for Economics masters. It offers good placements. Recent highlights of DSE placements show the average CTC for MA Economics is around INR 5 LPA. But the institute has a huge batch size.

Paris Sorbonne University and University of Munich are excellent options as well. These institutes are especially good for research.

Are JNU admissions tough?

Himanshu Yadav Posted On : April 2nd, 2024

JNU admissions are quite competitive due to its high reputation in India and across the world. Students from Delhi and outside of Delhi compete for admission to various JNU courses. The university accepts CUET for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. When the CUET results are declared, JNU releases its cutoff scores and merit list accordingly.

Candidates who have a CUET score that is at least equal to the cutoff scores will be called for the counseling session and will be allotted seats in their preferred institutions. Since a large number of applicants apply for JNU admissions, candidates must aim for a high percentile and a high CUET score. Good marks can ensure admission to JNU if not any other parameter.
