PhD from Indian Institute of Technology, Patna (IITP)

Among these, JNU is a better option for doing an MSc in Physics. It constantly ranks among the top universities in India. The academics and faculties at JNU are top-notch. Compared to IITs the course fee at JNU is way lower. The required fee for M.Sc Physics is only INR 692. Due to the locational advantage of JNU, it’s easier to get placements and internship opportunities.

JNU and IITs are good options for pursuing an MSc degree in Physics. But if you aren’t getting admission in top tier IITs, i.e. IIT KGP, Kanpur, Delhi, Madras, or Mumbai then choosing JNU will be better. You should apply to other universities as well. Don’t choose an institute only based on ranking. You should factor in the specializations and faculties as well.

The overall value of an institute really matters when it comes to getting admissions and placements. Now, IIT being an institute that is at the top in its class helps its students in getting foreign admissions. Although JNU stands at the 2nd position in the list of rankings of universities by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

Another advantage given by JNU is its location. It is situated in the hub of big companies and firms which eventually adds up to the university’s placement rate and other opportunities.

Along with this, pursuing MSc in Physics from JNU costs a lot lower than the other IITs due to its student-friendly fee structure. You can probably finish your entire degree at JNU within IIT’s fee for a single semester. Students wishing to study at any IIT need to reconsider their financial position due to IITs expensive fee structure.

Talking about MSc in Physics, IIT Delhi is top in all of the other IITs when it comes to Optics and Material Science. As a matter of fact, IIT Delhi provides the best of the best in the field of Optics. If you’re interested in Theoretical Physics then IIT Kanpur is the place for you. In the same way, IIT Bombay has an upper hand amongst all of the other IITs in Condensed Matter and Material Science.

Pursuing MSc in Physics from an IIT, be it IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bhubaneshwar, or any other IIT really helps its students a lot in getting into Ph.D. programs offered by foreign universities and institutions.
