Applicants can check the eligibility criteria for JNUEE MCA below:

  • Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Candidates should have adequate competence in Mathematics
  • Their pattern of Education should have been 10+2+3 pattern
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 55% in Bachelor's degree.

According to the eligibility criteria, the minimum marks for the qualifying degree should not be less than the aggregate of 55% marks for all unreserved category candidates. For OBC-NCL there is a 10% marks relaxation and for SC/ST/PWD candidates, the minimum pass mark is required. Also, there is no age limit to apply for this course. Looking at your profile and your graduation score of 49.9% does not seem very promising as it does not align with the required criteria. So unless you belong to a reserved category, it is almost impossible for you to get admission to JNU for MCA.

How do I take admission in MCA (regular degree) while having BCA from PTU?

In Northern India, there are several reputable colleges that enable students from BCA to take regular MCA courses. You won't have any difficulty gaining admission if you have a 10+2 mathematics level. I can tell you about Guru Nanak Dev University, which is located in Amritsar, Punjab. It performs an admission entry for MCA. The test takes place on the campus of Amritsar.

The curriculum covers :

  • English
  • Basic Engineering Mathematics and
  • Computer Problems.

For computers, weighting is the most important. Various universities such as DU, JNU, and PU accept single entrances. I am not, however, convinced of their suitability for distance training.

Is Mathematics required for MCA admission in Jadavpur University?

AC

Yes, you can get admission to MCA in Jadavpur University even if you have not studied Mathematics in class 12 provided that you have completed BCA. Subsequently, the requirements for MCA are

  • The candidate must have studied Mathematics in class 12

Or

  • The candidate must have completed the BCA

BCA curriculum includes Maths based electives and therefore does not make it necessary to have studied Mathematics in class 12. Candidates coming from BSc or BCom must have studied mathematics necessarily in class 12.

One major advantage of doing an MCA after BCA is that you get to choose between a 2-year MCA and a 3-year MCA. which is also known as literal entry specially for the students who are coming from Computer Science based graduation.

To be on the safer side, you can again give exams by filling out the NIOS form (National institute of open schooling) and can give exams for mathematics. In case your Bachelor subjects are not considered this Certificate will come to use.

A minimum of 50 percentile is the desirable cut-off.

Selection of candidates for admission is based on a Composite Score of various parameters. Hence exceptional performance in other parameters might help students to come in merit list for final selection.

For final selection, various parameters are taken into consideration like:

Total 100 marks:

  • Entrance Exam Score = 30%;
  • Group Discussion = 25%;
  • Personal Interview = 25%;
  • Past Academic Record = 15%;
  • Work Experience = 5%
