BMSCE, PES, AND MSRIT are present in Bengaluru and offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various streams. MSRIT ranked 59 by NIRF rankings, 2020. On the other hand, PES stands at 93rd and BMSCE in 69th position. All three colleges have an impressive placement record for the CSE branch. Facilities like digital library, gymnasium, cafeteria, as well as well-developed auditoriums. A total of 29 research faculties are present at BMSCE. A good number of faculties are also present at PES and MSRIT shaping the young students into professionals.

Admission:

• For admission into MSRIT and BMSCE students need to apply online for the COMEDK entrance exam. The selection of the candidates is purely merit-based.
• Eligibility criteria remain the same for BMSCE and MSRIT that is 50% aggregate in 10+2 in the science stream. The registration process starts in the month of January. Total seat intake is 1320
• Students need to apply for the PESSAT/CET exam for admission into BTech courses. The total seat intake is 1380.

Course Fees:

• The course fee for MSRIR is affordable for every student, as compared to BMSCE and PES.
• BTech students need to pay a total of INR 2.69 lakhs at MSRIT, INR 9.16 lakh at BMSCE, on the other hand, INR 13.2 lakh at PES university.
• Students choose any one of them depending on their budget. The fees will be a little less for the day boarders

Placement Information:

• In recent placements, 358 companies visited, and MSRIT has made a placement record of 95%. More number of the students were placed in the CSE branch. The highest package offered was INR 50 LPA and the average was INR 7 LPA.
• A total of 200 companies visited the BMSCe college and the highest package offered was INR 6 LPA.
• In recent placements, more than 851 job offers were given at PES, out of which 11 students received offers from Microsoft. The highest package offered was INR 48 LPA.

A number of scholarships are available that include travel grants, book grants, students with low family income, and a lot more. Best placement offers are given to CSE students because of the high demand in the market. Special computer labs are also developed in these colleges for the benefit of the students. The three colleges are good; it is evident from the NIRF national ranking.

Nirma University is UGC recognized and is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. NIT Surat, formerly known as the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), is one of the thirty NITs recognized by the Indian government. The institute is home to the World Bank's 'Center of Excellence,' which studies flood control and water supplies. Nirma University is ranked 136th and SVNIT is ranked 54th by NIRF 2020 in Engineering.

Admission:

Nirma University-

• Admission to B.Tech programs is through JEE mains or GUJCET and ACPC, Gujrat. While for B. Arch programs, students need a NATA score.

• Admission to M.tech programs is through the GATE score.

• For MBA programs at NIRMA University, students require a valid CAT score.

• Admission to doctoral programs is done through scores obtained in national entrance tests such as GATE/NET/JRF and SET.

NIT Surat- It currently offers 6 undergraduate and 18 graduate programs and 3 integrated five-year degree courses for MSc along with doctoral programs.

• Admission to BTech courses is through JEE Mains or JEE Advanced.

• MTech admission is done through GATE.

• For Ph.D. students, UGC- NET/JRF/GATE scores are considered.

Alumni:

• Notable alumni of Nirma University include Jay Shah- Indian Businessman and Cricket Administrator, Minal Rohit who is a Scientist at ISRO and helped send the Mangalyaan probe to Mars, and Boni Satani who is Head of Marketing at Zestard Technologies.

Facilities:

• The library at NIRMA University has over 55,000 books, 4409 bound volumes, 243 current journals, magazine and newspaper subscriptions, 2020 standards, and 700 ASCE, IEEE / IET, ACM, etc. e-journals.

• The Library of SVNIT is 49 years old and accommodates the needs of large groups of users including more than 2000 students, 200 faculty, 150 research scholars. It uses state-of-the-art technology and has been subscribed to access INDEST by MHRD.

Placement:

Cognizant, iFlex, Syntel, Cypress Semiconductor, Juniper, ARM, Deutsche Bank, Amazon, Tata Motors, etc. are the top recruiters at these institutes.

Both departments are top notch and of high repute. It lies in the interest of the beholder to discriminate the two, keeping their choice of interest into consideration.

SNU and Ashoka University are prominent universities for Computer Science. SNU was ranked 82 overall by NIRF 2020. Whereas Education World has ranked Ashoka University 2nd for the academic year 2019-20.

Admission:

• The eligibility for admission in SNU (B. tech Course) is merit in 10+2/ JEE Main score(120+ marks) +SNUSAT +APT (Test conducted by SNU).
• While for Ashoka University (B.Sc. course) is based on 10+2 qualification.

The total course fee at SNU and Asoka University for BTech Computer Science and BSc Computer Science are respectively 6.5 lakhs and 16 lakhs.

Placements:

The companies visiting SNU are Adobe, L&T, BSNL, VOLTAS, BOSCH, DELL, AMAZON, AIRTEL, IBM, HCL, HP, TITAN, and OMAX. On the other hand, companies visiting Ashoka University are Microsoft, McKinsey&Company, American Express, GENPACT, Star TV, and TOSHIBA.

Scholarships:

• SNU offers 100%, 95%, 70%, 50 % scholarship to students who score 98% or above, 90% or above, 80% or above, 70% or above respectively in 10+2.
• In Ashoka University, if your family income is low (the barrier will be set by university) the scholarship will be granted to you.

1. Tech in Computer Science at SNU is more about technical skills and your profile will be of a software engineer. Whereas B.Sc. in Computer Science at Ashoka University is more about theoretical knowledge and your profile won’t be of software engineer with this degree.

As for which will be the better option you should decide that for yourself.

Both colleges have their pros and cons. KIIT is a private college with a beautiful infrastructure whereas, IIEST is the oldest government college for engineering in India with average infrastructure. KIIT has a NIRF ranking of 24 while IIEST stands at the position of 21 among Engineering colleges.

Admissions:

KIIT:

Students are admitted on the basis ofKIITEE and thosewith 300-350 marks under 4000 rank secure a seat. To be eligible, a student must have 60% in the board exams.However, if a student does not get CSE for their admission, they can choose another branch and score more than 8.5 CGPA to transfer into CSE after the first year.

IIEST Shibpur:

• A student gets admission based on the rank secured in JEE Main and then goes through JoSAA Counselling & CSAB Special Board.
• Campus wise, the rank cutoff for ECE in the Shibpur campus is till 9219. To be eligible, a student must have 10+2 with at least 45% (for general candidates) and with 30% marks in English.

Fees:

• The feefor CSE in KIIT is 4 times to the ECE of IIEST Shibpur.
• The one-year fees for a BTech student are 4 lacs/annum in KIIT and 1.5 lacs/annum in IIEST Shibpur.
• Students in KIIT get a scholarship of 10k in each semester if they are amongst the top three students of their branch.

Placements:

KIIT:

• KIIT offers placements depending upon your GPA, fluent English, and logical skills. If a student has more than 9 GPA and the above-mentioned skills, he/she secures a job with a minimum package of 5-8 LPA.
• In KIIT, over 195 recruiters offered jobs. The total number of offers was 4379, and 3156 got placed.
• Some of the top recruiters were Cognizant, Accenture, Colfax, and the highest package offered was 30 LPA.

IIEST SHIBPUR:

• The placement rates in IIEST Shibpur have shown a significant increase every year. 85.7% in 2017, 81.82% in 2018, and 72% in 2019.
• The total number of companies visited the campus was90. Some of them are Amazon, CoalIndia, Sankalp Semiconductors, etc.
• These companies made 462 offers, out of which 311 students got placed. The highest package to date is 39.12 LPA.

The comparison lies that IIEST Shibpur has a good value for money than KIIT. Although not many companies approach IIEST Shibpur in comparison to KIIT there stands a higher chance to get away with the highest package on skills and knowledge. Also, getting in is not as easy as JEE mains scoreshould be very high. But overall, IIEST Shibpur stands in a good place.
