AM
Arjya Mishra Posted On : December 28th, 2021
B.Sc. from Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, India (2016)

The Dev Sanskriti University in Haridwar is appropriate for the students as it has a very welcoming and accepting environment.

Here are some facts about it:

  • The faculty is highly experienced and extremely cooperative.
  • The college students are very enthusiastic about organization and participation in fests and cultural programs.
  • Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (DSVV) is very strict when it comes to discipline.
  • They are strict about holidays and taking leaves.
  • A 75% attendance is compulsory for all the students, failing which they will not be allowed to sit for the exams.
  • The college food is average.
  • The timings for lunch and dinner are really bad. Breakfast is at 6 AM, Lunch timing is 11 AM and Dinner timing is 5 PM.

Overall the college is good, but for out-station students the adjustment to the place, food, weather, etc. will take some time. Try making friends who will make you familiar with the place and its surroundings.

What is the difficulty level of JIPMER MBBS entrance exam as compared to AIPMT? Which are the best reference books for JIPMER entrance exam?

SS
Suman Sharma Posted On : September 21st, 2023
MBBS from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Pondicherry (2021)

Honestly, there isn't much difference in the level of difficulty of the two papers i.e., NEET and JIPMER. Both the exams are based on NCERT although JIPMER occasionally includes questions out of NCERT Syllabus. JIPMER is relatively easy as most questions are small and simple unlike some complex ones included in NEET.

To prepare for the JIPMER exam all you need to do is go through the previous year's questions, revise your concepts, and formulas, name reactions of organic, and most importantly remain calm throughout preparing for the exam.

What is the benefit of doing a part time MTech from IIT Delhi?

AS
Ashmita Sinha Posted On : April 1st, 2023
Masters from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

The course structure is very similar to that of the full-time course with very few exceptions like

  • Less courses per semester but longer duration
  • No hostel facilities provided
  • Not allowed to sit for general placements

Apart from these, both part-timers and full-timers can access the same lab facilities, attend the same classes and sit for the same exams and are also evaluated together.

Is it possible to get more than 70% marks in DU SOL?

PK
Pawan Kumar Posted On : November 9th, 2022
B.A. from University of Delhi

Yes, it’s very much possible to attain more than 70% marks in DU SOL. My brother was lucky enough to score 71.1% in his second year of B.Com.(Hons). He mentioned a few simple strategies that helped him get good marks.

  1. Set your target: The very first step has to be to fix a target. In my brother's case, he set his target at 75%.

  2. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses: Focus more on the subjects you are well versed in. Compensate the marks you will lose in the subjects you are below average at with the marks you will get in subjects you are good at.

  3. Attempt the paper well: When I say attempt the paper well, I also mean make it presentable. Neat handwriting and diagrams never go unnoticed.

  4. Additional guidance: Getting tuition for subjects you are weak at is better than mugging up the concept. These classes are available near North and South Campus.

  5. Consistency is the key: Leaving the entire syllabus for a few days before the exams is not a good option. Study regularly, even if for just a few hours. You will see amazing results.

Adopting all these strategies, my brother got 71.1%. So I don’t think it’s difficult to score above 70% in DU SOL.

How is mechanical engineering at IIT (BHU)?

UG
Udit Ghose Posted On : November 17th, 2022
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Sharda University

My cousin was a student at IIT BHU in Varanasi. She shared her experience as to why she thinks it’s not a good branch for Mechanical Engineering.

  • The professors are under qualified here. They have little knowledge about their own subjects and teach only bookish concepts. The classes are boring.

  • Students attend classes merely for attendance. This is because even if you score good marks, you might fail if your attendance is less than 75% in that particular subject.

  • The numerical answers are not checked through the stepwise method. That is your method to solve has no value if your answer is wrong.

  • Professors here are not well versed with the relative grading system. This affects the CGPA of many students.

  • Placements are mediocre here. Only non core sectors like coding and analytics get placement opportunities. The salaries offered are also very low.

  • Labs are not equipped with modern tools. The students get no practical exposure.

The conclusion from her experience was that the professors in Mechanical Engineering at Varanasi IIT are bringing down the results of students terribly.

Why do students from NSIT, DTU, IIIT A, IIITD and MNNIT perform well in SPOJ, CodeChef, and Codeforces even though NIT Trichy, Warangal, and Surathkal have much better ranked students?

SG
Samkit Gupta Posted On : September 4th, 2021
B.A. Mathematics and Computing, Delhi Technological University (2018)

Competitive coding has nothing to do with the JEE curriculum. So someone’s coding skill does not depend on their JEE rank. At least not until coding becomes a part of JEE syllabus.

Coding depends a lot on the environment of the institute. Environment plays a major role in making students do certain things. IIITA has a great coding culture. Which makes everyone have a go at coding. It’s the culture that provokes you to start competitive programming early. You will not find that kind of coding culture at most NITs.

How easy is it to take a branch change at iit bombay?

AT
Adwait Tejas Posted On : March 17th, 2023
studied Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2021)

If you're looking to change your branch at IIT Bombay, there are two main factors that will determine how easy or difficult it is for you:

  1. Other students who are also looking to change their branch - The demand for different branches at IITB is divided into three categories: high-level demand (Computer Science & Engineering and Electrical Engineering), mid-level demand (Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering), and low-level demand (all other branches).
  2. Your own priorities and aptitude - You'll need to decide how much time you want to dedicate to studying vs. extracurricular activities, and where you fit relative aptitude compared to other students.

Here's a breakdown of what these factors mean for you:

Role of the first factor:

  • Demand for different branches at IIT Bombay is based largely on which branch offers better job opportunities and salaries, so some branches are more competitive than others.
  • Depending on the level of demand for your desired branch, it may be harder or easier to get a COB.

Role of the second factor:

  • Depending on how much time you want to dedicate to studying vs. extracurricular activities, and where you fit relative aptitude, you may find it easier or harder to get a COB.
  • Specifically, you can think of yourself as falling into one of the following categories:
  • Most of the time dedicated to studying and least to the extracurrics (MSLE)
  • Equal amount of dedication and time to both studies and extracurrics (ESE)
  • Least time given to studies and most to the extracurrics (LSME)
  • Students with above average aptitude (AAA)
  • Students with average aptitude (AA)
  • Students with below-average aptitude (BAA)

Overall, getting a COB at IIT Bombay will depend on a combination of these factors, so it's important to be realistic about your chances and make sure you're prepared to put in the effort needed to succeed.

Aarti Bora Posted On : March 30th, 2023
IIT Madras, IISc Bangalore

Both Anna University and IIT Madras function under the Government of India and thus have a great research culture. But IIT Madras is a much better option than Anna University.

  • IIT Madras has great scope in terms of exposure and opportunities
  • IIT Madras enjoys a better brand name and reputation than AU
  • The eligibility criteria for admission to IIT Madras comprises JEE Advanced Exam, one of the most competitive entrance exams while there are no entrance exams for admission to Anna University. You just have to apply for TNEA.
  • The quality of the peer group is much better at IIT Madras and has better competition
  • The research culture and facilities are way ahead at IIT Madras than at Anna University.
  • The faculty pool is diverse and you can find many professors from different parts of the country while Anna University usually has professors from South India only.
