Yes, IIT Bhubaneswar provides single-occupancy rooms to its BTech students. My brother has stayed at the Mahanadi Hall of Residence and told me a few things about it.

• A typical room of this hostel has a bed, a table chair, and a cupboard.
• Every room has its own balcony.
• The hostel provides a high-speed data cable internet facility. 
• There are Aqua-guards and Washing Machines stationed on each floor in addition to lifts.
• Every hostel has a separate gym facility.
• Students are prohibited from using heavy electronic components like coolers or induction.
• Many indoor sports facilities are offered such as TT, Carrom, and Chess. 
• The hostel has splendid outdoor sports facilities such as a basketball court, a volleyball court, and a badminton court. 
• A common study room with books and PCs where students gather to study or complete their assignments. 
• A common room with a TV to spend your free time with friends and a dance and music room. 

Overall, IIT Bhubaneswar has excellent accommodation facilities for its students.

Most of the items can be bought from Raipur itself. But I am listing down all the things you will require at the hostel so that you bring most of the items from your home itself. This will save you some time and multiple trips to the market-

• Important items- Documents (Keep the original documents with 2 photocopies of each), ID proof (Aadhar).

• Daily Requirements-  A.Stationary- Two black & two blue pens, tape, scissor, wrist watch.B. Hygiene Products- comb, nail cutter, soap, facewash, handwash, deo, shampoo, toothpaste, shaving kit, detergent. C. For cooking or snacking- spoon, electric kettle, some homemade snacks.
• Other requirements- hanger, extension board, two locks with keys, first aid kit with some basic medicines for fever and cold, dusting cloth, umbrella, two pillow covers, two bedsheets, at least one formal shirt-pant, shoes and a pair of slippers, belt, two towels.

Mattress and pillows can be bought in Raipur itself. Chances are that you will miss out on these items in a hurry, so I am mentioning them as well- T-shirts and shirts, jeans and chinos, socks, pen drive and laptop.

IIT Madras has also been known for its good hostels. All the hostels of IIT Madras boast of a badminton court, volleyball court, football grounds, and also large sitting spaces. Below are the best hostels considered on the campus of IIT Madras

• Narmada: - Narmada Hostel is the best out of all the hostels due to its prime location. It’s located near Himalaya (Place for lunch and dinner) and the best part about it is that it has a bus stop located near it which allows access to almost everywhere.
• Godavari Hostel: - It is situated right opposite the Himalaya mess and it also has a garden in front of it. During the nights it provides excellent views of the city and the whole vibe of the place and makes it more comforting. It does not have a bus stop, however, it is close to Jamuna bus stop. Moreover, you can get buses from stops such as Gurunath which is the closest hostel, or the Taramani Gate.
• Jamuna Hostel: - Jamuna is the starting point of the bus services which runs through the entire premise. Jamuna Hostel also has the newest eateries and has a whole bunch of shops to choose where to get your snacks from.

The answer is a bit subjective because you need to carry the things that are important to you. But as far as basic necessities are concerned, here’s a list of them-

1. Clothes for the hostel and the college.
2. Some homemade snacks. The hostel canteen’s food may not be to your liking, and its timings may not match yours.
3. Bedsheets, a pillow and a mosquito net. The bedding is available over here, but they sell it for very high prices.
4. A rope to dry laundry, an extension cord, and an umbrella (the monsoon starts around mid July).
5. Clothes for fests and outings.
6. All the other things are easily accessible over here.
7. Other than all these things, you may carry a laptop, an electric kettle, a hard disk and a bicycle (although you can easily buy a first or second hand bicycle over here).
