What is the correct ranking between IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, and IIIT Hyderabad for Masters in Computer Science?

SG
Sumit Singh Gandhi Posted On : April 28th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra India

Before I rank these institutes, I will warn you against joining IIT Roorkee for CS. IIT Roorkee is understaffed and also lacks facilities for research work. Despite being the oldest IIT, it has failed to meet IIT standards and has become a big disappointment

Only a few professors around 10 are there in the CS department and most of them are least interested in doing or promoting research work. So for research aspirants, IIT Roorkee is the last love to be.

However, if your only agenda is to secure a well-paid job, IIT Roorkee with its tag will definitely fetch you one. Many top companies offer excellent job profiles to CS students and students of these students are most sought after. Even MTech students are allowed to sit for placements.

In my opinion, the ranking should be

IIIT Hyderabad>IIT Guwahati>IIT Roorkee

How is MS general surgery residency at JIPMER when compared to other top ranked colleges for surgery?

KC
Kushal Chaudhuri, Posted On : September 21st, 2023
MBBS from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Pondicherry (2018)

The General Surgery is one of the best departments in JIPMER. Most residents here are extremely friendly and well-educated. This department has some of the best professors. Our HOD, Dr. Kate is a gem of a person and it's an honor to know him personally. Dr. Sistla is one of the senior-most professors in the department and is the role model of many.

The first-year residents have a hectic schedule due to an overload of work. There are all kinds of surgeries in JIPMER including many trauma surgeries so the OTs are busy all day.

Overall, the Surgery department is one of the best and if you made it to MS at JIPMER, and are willing to work 24*7, during their first year, you should definitely go for it!

Why has IBS Hyderabad lost its rank?

AJ
Arshit Jain Posted On : February 23rd, 2023
MBA in Marketing, ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad (Graduated 2018)

You may have heard differing opinions on the current status of IBS Hyderabad. While it is true that there have been some changes that have led to a decline in the quality of education and the reputation of the campus, there are several specific factors that have contributed to this decline.

One factor is the increasing batch size. The college has been adding at least 50 to 100 students each year, which has resulted in a larger student body. However, this increase in batch size has also meant a decrease in the quality of the students being admitted to the main campus.

Another issue is the lack of dedication from some of the professors. Despite having degrees from prestigious universities, some professors are not fully committed to teaching and providing quality education to their students.

The administration's approach to filling the larger batch size has led to the admission of mediocre students who are not serious about their education and cause disruptions in the classroom and in the hostels. This creates a negative environment that can affect the learning experience of all students.

The administration has also failed to enforce rules and regulations, allowing students to engage in harmful activities like smoking, drinking, and damaging hostel properties. These actions have led to a decline in the reputation of the campus and have negatively impacted the placements of students. Companies have noticed the lack of skills and poor behavior of some students during the recruitment process, which has led them to question the quality of education being provided at IBS Hyderabad.

To restore its former glory, the administration needs to prioritize improving the quality of education and ensuring that rules and regulations are followed by all students. Additionally, offering mental conditioning classes for students can help them develop a more professional demeanor, both in the classroom and during the recruitment process, ensuring that the campus continues to attract top companies for placements.

Which is a better B-school between FMS, ISB and IIM Lucknow?

SA
Shaveta Arya Posted On : January 6th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Lucknow

The student fraternity of ISB is very different from that of FMS and IIM Lucknow. ISB requires a minimum of 2 years and an average of 4 years of work experience for admission. Whereas IIM Lucknow and FMS focus more on academics and almost 40% of the batch comprises freshers. Others have 2 or fewer years of experience.

My answer is divided into 3 parts

If you have work experience of 2 or fewer years:

In this case, you should give up on ISB and totally focus on FMS or IIM Lucknow. Personally, I would suggest you go for IIM Lucknow because of its brand image. Despite the fact that FMS offers high ROI, you can never underestimate the value of an IIM tag.

If you have work experience of 2-3 years:

This is the toughest decision as you can nearly go for ISB but will be risking a lot including its extravagant fees. But you won’t regret choosing ISB because of its peers, faculty, research orientation, and campus life. It is also the place where all the big consulting firms come for placements. So if you value reputed firms a lot then go for ISB.

If you have above 3 years of experience:

Close your eyes and without thinking choose ISB.

What is the ranking of IIT BHU in India?

NJ
Nikhil Jain Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech ElectronicsIndian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2018)

NIRF ranking of 2019 placed IIT BHU on an overall 11th rank among Engineering colleges in India. The institute made a great leap from its previous 19th rank in the NIRF list in 2018 which was 31 in 2017. Although being one of the oldest IITs in the country, the institute lags behind other eminent IITs due to its infrastructure and facilities. The college comes behind IIT Madras(rank 1), IIT Delhi (rank 2), IIT Bombay (rank 3), IIT Kharagpur (rank 4), IIT Kanpur (rank 5), IIT Roorkee(rank 6), IIT Guwahati (rank 7), IIT Hyderabad (rank 8), Anna University(rank 9) and NIT Tiruchirappalli(rank 10) in the NIRF rankings for 2019. The institute was ranked 9th among engineering colleges in India in 2019 by “The Week”. The Outlook ICARE(2019) ranking agency assigned 16th rank (out of 100) for IIT BHU. Jagran Josh(2018) ranked the institute at 21. Besides these rankings, there have been several biased ratings given by a few private agencies which are not as reliable.

What should be preference order of IMT Ghaziabad courses- PGDM, PGDM marketing, PGDM finance, PGDM DCP, PGDM banking, insurance and financial services?

DC
Dhruv Chatterjee Posted On : January 25th, 2023
PGDM from Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (Graduated 2022)

IMT Ghaziabad offers a variety of courses that cater to various specializations. These courses have been listed and explained in their order of preference

  • PGDM Marketing/PGDM Full Time (Marketing): This is the most coveted program among IMT students mainly because today its alumni have acquired top positions in big firms. Other major reasons include top-notch faculty, great internship and placement opportunities in terms of role and CTC, IMT’s eligibility, and excellent performances in recognized marketing and strategy B Schools competitions.
  • PGDM Finance/PGDM Full Time (Finance): This one is most suitable for aspirants who are interested in Finance. However, this program offers lesser opportunities than the Marketing program in terms of role and CTC.
  • PGDM Full Time (Operations): This program offers opportunities similar to that of Finance. But the batch size of PGDM Operations is smaller than PGDM Finance, so it may be easier to secure an internship/final placement, but the opportunities come less compared to Finance.
  • PGDM DCP: DCP or the Dual Country Program is for those who are keen to get international exposure. Compared to an MBA from a foreign university, this program is cheaper and yet offers an opportunity to explore a different culture and learn to make decisions in an international context. This is best suitable for those who are in the Marketing domain.
  • PGDM Banking and Financial Services (PGDM-BFS): This program was launched in 2019 and is relatively newer. It targets the core Banking and Finance sector. While the MBA program aims to provide a holistic view of management, this program solely focuses on Banking and Finance.
  • PGDM Full Time (HR): This is the least taken course and offers very less in terms of opportunities.

The courses have been arranged preference-wise so will make it easy for you to choose one.
