My mat score is 631.5 and my percentile is 80. Can I get admission in XIME Bangalore?

Yes, you can secure a seat at XIME Bangalore, as they accept scores above 600. But as a whole, these marks are not good in the MAT exams. It is better to try out other competitive exams or sit for the next MAT exam and score good marks so that you can choose any leading institute.

Should I apply for the 2nd round with a percentile of 99.233rd at IIIT Hyderabad?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : August 1st, 2023

No, I don’t think it’s wise to apply for the 2nd round with a percentile of 99.233rd at IIIT Hyderabad. Based on the cutoffs, the minimum percentile required to get IIIT Hyderabad CSE is 99.78 whereas for ECE is 98.87. Even if you end up getting ECE in the subsequent rounds you will end up losing a lot of money. Moreover, paying a sum of 20k just for a single round is not justified especially when your chances are slim.

Additionally, only half of the fee is considered an advance tuition fee. So you will lose a lot of money whether you get admission or not. It’s better to try another IIIT or a NIT than IIIT Hyderabad. But if you are adamant, you can surely try your luck!

What are the points that a student knows before taking admission to IIEST Shibpur?

SB
Shivani Bhatt Posted On : March 14th, 2021
IIEST Shibpur (2019)

The first thing that you should note is that IIEST offers a dual degree program. It's a 5-year M.Tech program and not the conventional 4-year program.

  • Be clear of what your goals are and choose your friend circle according to it. For Example, if you love programming then find a senior who is doing coding and learn from his experience.
  • Make it clear in your mind that CGPA matters the most. It is not easy to score marks in Shibpur and hence you have to study a lot.
  • Be a team player. There are so many societies in the college and you SHOULD join them. This would make you aware of what's happening around you, help you build connections.
  • Don't be worried about Ragging, It doesn't exist.
  • Studies are not that easy and lectures are sometimes boring but you have to self-study and also manage time for honing your skills.
  • Shibpur is not as famous across the nation as it is in West Bengal.
  • It's the 2nd oldest college in the nation and hence has a vast alumni network.
  • Upon becoming IIEST, the vibes in the college would change completely. There would be more budget for everything and confidence fo student would also increase. The quality of education would increase
  • Placement opportunities at IIEST are not that great but the situation should improve in the near future.

Don't lose focus, try to stay motivated and find like-minded people.

How much percentile is required for admission in MDI, JBIMS or FMS?

AM
Anisha Mukhija Posted On : February 20th, 2023
Studied at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies

My answer does mention the required percentile for each of the B Schools you mentioned. But before I proceed I would like to shed light on the fact that the CAT percentile is not the only factor that determines your admission into a B School. There are other factors you need to work on like academic background, work experience, and GD-PI.

MDI

The college offers PGDM admissions on the basis of CAT and GMAT scores. The expected CAT percentile is around 93-95 and the GMAT score is 680+.

Apart from this, the candidates are expected to have above average academic records, work experience and WAT.

JBIMS

The institute accepts CAT, MH-CET, and GMAT. The percentile cutoff for the General Category

CAT: 95

MH-CET: 99.97

GMAT is accepted only for NRIs.

FMS Delhi

This institute is well known for its extremely low fees and the null weightage given to past academics. Thus admissions are based on the CAT percentile for which the cutoff is very high and GD-PI. The CAT percentile can be around 98.3

It is important to note that CAT should not be the only factor to consider while preparing for admission. Interview and GD rounds should also be given equal importance in addition to work experience.

I am from Delhi. I am earning 7 LPA from a reputed company in Bangalore. Will it be a good decision to drop the job for an MBA from MDI Gurgaon? Why?

DS
Deepal Sharma Posted On : February 22nd, 2023
MBA in Marketing & Finance, Management Development Institute, Gurgaon (Graduated 2018)

I will highly recommend you to go for MDI Gurgaon as the opportunities that will open up to you are vast. You will get to explore an altogether different world. The main reasons why one should take MDI Gurgaon are

  • If you stay at your current job and consider the raise you will get in 2 years, your salary will be 10-12 LPA in 2 years whereas after MBA your salary will start from at least 14 LPA which is a major difference.
  • Working at your current company will leave you with the tag of a normal engineer whereas the MBA tag will be a game changer in your career.
  • The experience at MDI itself will enable you to learn so many things and lead to overall personality development which will not be possible if you continue with your current job.

So joining MDI for an MBA is definitely a good choice.

What are some perks of getting an admission in PGIMS Rohtak?

MS
Mehak Sharma, Posted On : November 9th, 2021
MBBS from Pt. B.D. Sharma PGIMS Rohtak (2022)

One of my friends studied at PGIMS Rohtak. According to him, there are a lot of perks of being a student here.

  • It has a high patient inflow with 6000-7000 patients daily in OPD. This is the result of the reputation the doctors have earned in the last few years.
  • There are well-equipped labs, well-to-do apparatus, good guides, a large D-hall with the required number of cadavers and specimens, an anatomy museum with almost all models, Histology lab with good slides.
  • The auditorium is large and has good capacity, beautiful architecture.
  • The faculty is overall good, they have a good amount of clinical knowledge and great experience.
  • Major fests like ARMSCON and XTASIA are held every year where med students from all Haryana colleges come and participate.
  • Other than that, events like sports meets, conferences, celebrations on various occasions, festivals, etc. take place.
  • All hostels are well maintained and cleaned regularly.
  • Mess food is average. There are 2 canteens.

They also have contributions to rural health services and slums, they have organizations like NMO (for rural areas) which includes different programs, and MSC (mostly for slum areas). They work on a regular basis for the maintenance of health in these areas. These will also be beneficial for your career.

I am currently pursuing 1st year B.tech (CSE) in NIT Raipur. Can I give JEE Mains next year and take admission in another NIT or IIIT?

AM
Aditya Mishra Posted On : September 9th, 2023
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Raipur

Yes, you can surely attempt your JEE Mains/Advanced/BITS. Many students do the same. There are (and have been) at least 1 or 2 such students in every batch of NIT Raipur.

But I would advise you not to opt for just any other NIT. Choose an NIT which is at least 5-6 ranks above NIT Raipur. Otherwise, switching to another NIT will prove ineffective. The same goes for IIITs, choose only the old ones.

This is because NIT Raipur offers decent placements for CSE, at par with the NITs of the same stature. So wasting a year for NIT Jamshedpur or NIT Durgapur will be fruitless. If you go for JEE counseling, you’ll have to withdraw from your NIT Raipur seat first. To be on the safe side, go for the counseling only with a score high enough to get you CSE in a better ranking NIT. Otherwise, you might get NIT Raipur once again. This has happened with students in the past.

I hope this advice will help you make wise decisions regarding your college switch.
