Should I go for IIIT Allahabad even if I have rank enough to get CS in NIT-K, NIT-W, and NIT-T?

SS
Shruti Sikhawat Posted On : March 24th, 2021
Studied at IIIT Allahabad (2019)

The most practical thing to do here would be to begin with taking a look at the syllabus of both these mentioned programs. You need to be absolutely clear about whether you wish to study for the next 4 years of your life and maybe also be able to develop a career in the same field. Interest and passion are mandatory to be able to sustain in any field of engineering for a very long period of time.

Now as far as my personal opinion goes, since two of my brothers have completed their engineering from IIIT Allahabad, I strongly believe that IIITA is a notch better than the others. Although the syllabus of CSE and IT is more or less the same, the overall academic environment of IIITA is better suited for coding when compared to the other NITs. There are a number of competitive programming websites available online where you will find more students of IIIT A placed at higher ranks than NITs.

There is a process of development, evolvement and growth as a programmer in IIITA for the students. It is known to all that India’s best coder Suryanarayana is also from IIIT A. Another reason why IIITA is a popular option for many aspiring coders is because unlike other colleges, it offers core subjects from the first years itself.

The placement scenario is also far accomplished of IIIT Allahabad.

RD
Rakesh Dash Posted On : April 16th, 2021
B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering & Computer Science and Engineering, Biju Patnaik University of Technology (2019)

You always need to remember that if you are a student in BPUT, your syllabus is huge and the time period is very limited. You have to work on your own. Following are some tips and tricks for you to clear the BPUT exam:

  • Listen to lectures in every class very carefully and try to make notes out of them.
  • Check the syllabus and match it with your notes. If you feel that any of the topics is missing, you need to go through that topic from the textbook.
  • If you still have doubts regarding that topic, you can go through YouTube videos. There are many videos on YouTube on these. They would definitely give you clarity in that particular concept.
  • Always try to make notes for every topic covered in the class. This will help you throughout the semester.
  • After the completion of one module, you must go through the previous year's questions of that module and try answering them.
  • During the semester exams, go through the notes thoroughly.
  • If you are not so good at studies, you should practice these questions as many times as possible and try to memorize the answers.

You would definitely pass the exam with good grade points unless you have any attendance issues or backlogs.

How is the placement at NIT Sikkim?

SK
Simran Kaur Posted On : December 10th, 2020
B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering & Mathematics, National Institute of Technology Sikkim

Being a national institute of importance, NIT Sikkim has grown in terms of its recruitment and placement services. While the website mentions that the placement statistics for the 2014-17 batch was nearly 103%, according to that number the placement rate surpasses even IIT Bombay, which is questionable.

The actual rate of placement has been observed to be around 60% where a majority of these placements are bagged through drive or pooling. Because of this factor, relatively fewer companies visit the campus for recruitments.

Based on different branches, let us look at the placements specifically:

  • CSE: Over 80% of students are placed but the average median salary is quite low, around INR 6 LPA. Only a few students get the opportunity to be recruited by MNC’s. Some of the main recruiters are Bosch and IBM.
  • Electronics Engineering: The faculty is really good and more than 90% of students are placed with the highest CTC of 12 LPA.
  • Mechanical Engineering: Popular for its labs and experienced faculty members, this branch observes a comparatively low placement rate since very few companies visit for the mechanical field. The main recruiters are Denso and Intel.
  • Civil Engineering: While the course is well-designed, the placements for this branch are not up to the mark. Although nearly 70% of students are placed, the companies are not MNC’s or reputed. Most students are simply offered internships along with the NIT degree.
  • Electronics and Communication: The placements within this branch are excellent, considering top companies like L&T, Infosys, Intel, Tech Mahindra are all part of the recruitment drive. Nearly 90% of students are placed with the highest CTC of 17 LPA.

The university does have great faculty members who provide students with a good teaching experience.

To conclude, it is preferable to take admissions only if you are a dropper. Else, it is always better to appear for JEE Mains again and get a better ranking.

What is the percentile required to join IIM Ranchi?

SS
Surya Satya Posted On : January 11th, 2023
Indian institute of Management Ranchi, Class of '17

The admission process for the flagship course of IIM Ranchi is done through CAP (Common Admission Process), which is conducted by IIM Rohtak for 9 IIMs.

IIM Ranchi has released the admission policy and selection criteria for its flagship MBA course. The qualifying CAT cut-off for the batch of 2022-24 is 93 percentile as per IIM CAP criteria. IIM Ranchi CAT Cutoff usually remains around the 92 Percentile. For the past 2 years the CAT Cutoff was 94 Percentile but this year it has been reduced.

However, the final shortlisting depends upon many parameters such as

  • Your academic scores
  • Work experience
  • Personal Interview
  • Written Ability Score.

If you are shortlisted and do well in WAT and PI, you can surely get admission in IIM Ranchi.

IIM Ranchi also has a PGDHRM course, for which it conducts its separate admission rounds, so you can apply for that as well.

Why is IIIT Hyderabad underrated?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : August 3rd, 2023

There are a number of reasons why IIIT Hyderabad is underrated, especially among the Indian masses. I will be stating three main reasons

  • IIIT Hyderabad is more famous for its coding culture than its research culture. Due to its massive participation in GSOC and MNC placements, the masses fail to realize that it's a research university.  It has done excellent research in some areas of computer science.
  • IIIT Hyderabad has only two branches so it’s with CS is the main focus so it fails to attract a diverse crowd.
  • IIIT Hyderabad has failed to produce PhDs who are continuing largely in academia today

These are some of the common reasons for IIIT Hyderabad being an underrated institute today.

What do you prefer, the GATE or the IES?

SS
Sohini Sengupta Posted On : February 25th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology Durgapur (2014)

I would prefer GATE or IES because in GATE the ratio is 10:1 whereas in IES the ratio is 300:1. This makes IES a very tough competitive exam but in GATE it is easier to get good marks and rank higher as the paper is easy and less competitive compared to IES.

The IES exam is tougher than GATE because here a candidate has to excel both in academics and personality. In GATE the questions are concept based and it is easier to solve if all the concepts are clear. Also in the GATE exam, there are 65 questions and the time limit is 3 hours but in the IES exam there are 120 questions and the time limit is 2 hours. So you get less time to solve all the questions.

After qualifying for your GATE exam with good marks, you can apply to any of the big companies with higher packages and it also opens your gate to apply for PSU.

After qualifying for your IES exam, you will get a job as an assistant executive engineer and after 3-4 years of experience, you will get promoted to executive engineer post. Then after many years of experience of like 20+ years, you will get Chief Engineer posts.
