Is IIT Goa better than IIT Mandi?

A
Admin Posted On : June 14th, 2024

No, IIT Goa is not better than IIT Mandi. Both of these institutes are considered good to pursue engineering (UG & PG). But IIT Mandi has an edge over IIT Goa in terms of ranking, placement, campus infrastructure, etc. Although IIT Goa is a newly established IIT as compared to IIT Mandi, it is progressing with time.

CATEGORY-WISE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IIT GOA AND IIT MANDI:

CATEGORY IIT MANDI IIT GOA
NIRF Ranking for Engineering (2023) 33 Not Ranked
Total Fee 8.61 Lakhs 9.31 Lakhs
Seat Intake 350 125
JEE Advanced (Closing Rank) 2000-10000 3498-11060

Placement Record: 2023

IIT Goa

  • The placement percentage is around 80%
  • Top recruiters include DRDO, Airtel, Microsoft, Amazon, etc.
  • The highest package offered during 2023 placements at IIT Goa was INR 60 LPA, while the average package was INR 16 LPA.

IIT MANDI

  • The placement percentage is around 90%
  • Top recruiters include Cognizant, L&T, Wipro, HSBC, etc.
  • The highest package offered to the students of IIT Mandi in 2023 was INR 70 LPA, whereas the average package was INR 25.23 LPA.

Newly established IITs like IIT Goa are getting less assistance from the government as compared to older IITs like IIT Mandi. That’s why the facilities available in newly established IITs are not the same as compared to the old ones.

Thus, I would recommend you opt for IIT Mandi as it is currently a better option than IIT Goa.
