How is biotechnology at Amity University Noida? How are the placements?

NG
Neha Ghosh Posted On : February 23rd, 2021
B.Sc in Biotechnology, Amity University, Noida (2018)

One of my friends suggested that Btech in biotechnology is much better than Bsc in Biotechnology at Amity University Noida Campus. It is one of the best branches in the area. The campus is really good, you will get a lot of labs to work on.

The faculties and professors are highly qualified and friendly as well. It totally depends on you as in how much you can take and learn from this college campus. If you are a bright student then you will gain a lot of knowledge and may get placed in good company while if you are an average student then you will have to work really hard to get the best opportunity. Although the faculties are very good you will get a lot of help from them.

Now coming to the placement part it has been suggested by my friend that Btech get good placements in comparison to Bsc students. The reason being they place Bsc students in some BPO companies while Btech students get better opportunities. But the placements are not 100% core placements. This means that you might also get placed in sales and marketing jobs as well depending upon your candidature. The college conducts campus placements for few IT companies only. It depends upon your capability and how you grab the opportunity fast.

For those who don’t get placements should always try for better internships. You can also start preparing for exams like GRE and GATE for further studies and trying for good companies. As a proactive student you should always try for various options as if you wait for 4 years and at the end you don’t get placed then you might be disappointed. You can also go for Msc in Biotechnology after completing Bsc in order to get good placements.

Both the NITs are equally good. Though due to the rapidly growing corporate industry there is a huge demand for computer engineers or CSE graduates. It is considered the most preferred engineering course among others. Biotechnology unlike CSE does not have the same amount of popularity among students as well as professionals. But ultimately it depends on the students and their preferences.

Which is better, IIT Bhubaneswar for EE or IIT Delhi for biotechnology?

SM
Subhashree Modak Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (2020)

Biotechnology and EE are two very different branches to be compared with each other. But if you are not sure which branch you like more here are a few pointers about both the colleges which may help you make the decision.

IIT Bhubaneswar offers decent placements. The placement for EE was 86% in 2019 with an average salary of 11.44 LPA. IIT Bhubaneswar is divided into many schools instead of branches. School of Electrical Science has Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science, and Knowledge Engineering. The infrastructure of IIT Bhubaneswar is good as it is newly built. Faculty members are qualified and well experienced. IIT Bhubaneswar is located outside Bhubaneswar city and the campus offers a good academic environment away from the city.

IIT Delhi is one of the top 3 IITs. The placements are better if we compare it to IIT Bhubaneswar with an average package of 16 LPA. Biotechnology is a very diverse course. Multiple options are available if one wants to go into research. In this department, the placements are not so good. Core companies hardly come for placements. But placements for non-core companies are open. The campus is small as compared to other IITs but the infrastructure is quite good. The college is right in the middle of the city and provides easy connectivity to another place.

Now, if you are looking for better college life go for IIT Delhi but if you are interested in EE go for IIT Bhubaneswar.

Which would be better, metallurgy or biotechnology in NIT Durgapur or metallurgy or mining in IIEST Shibpur?

CJ
Chirag Jain Posted On : September 17th, 2020
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (2021)

NIT Durgapur and IIEST Shibpur both are excellent universities for pursuing Bachelor's and Master's in Engineering. Both institutes are located in different parts of West Bengal in famous areas. NIT Durgapur has been ranked and 46th in Engineering Category by the NIRF Rankings in India. It does carry a reputation value to the degree by being a premier institute of Engineering. IIEST is a lesser-known institute but well advanced in their research faculty and content.

In a nutshell:

Colleges

Admission

Placements

Tuition fee

NIT Durgapur

JEE Main

70%

1,49,100

IIEST Shibpur

JEE Main

Metallurgy: 68.6%

Mining: 80.1%

1,37,000

Courses:

  • Metallurgy or Biotechnology at NIT can only be selected after the first year depending on the marks scored by the candidate. Since it is a premier institute, it will be relatively difficult to get the subject of your choice.
  • At IIEST, metallurgy is offered in B.Tech however, mining engineering is only offered in the dual program of B.Tech + M.Tech. Thus students who wish to pursue mining engineering at IIEST Shibpur will have to go for the dual degree program.

Admission:

Admission at NIT would be much more competitive than IIEST. It requires a higher JEE mains rank. The choice of the subject involves even more competitiveness as it is done at the end of the first year based on CGPA. Most students who get selected at NIT do not wish to go for metallurgy, however, if you are interested, then it is one of the best institutes. IIEST is relatively easy when it comes to admissions and choice of subjects.

Placements:

  • At IIEST metallurgy and mining are considered as research-based subjects and thus do not have high paid placements at the start. However, the mining course does offer better placements and opportunities to study at other premium and specific institutes in India which can land a good job in the future.
  • NIT Durgapur, on the other hand, can provide better placements due to its reputation standard.

The B.Tech. program at IIEST may not hold much value, but it is supplemented by excellent research professors who encourage students to take part in national missions and research projects. The competitiveness at NIT won’t provide that opportunity to every student.

MT
Manas Taneja Posted On : February 17th, 2021
M.Sc Biotechnology, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar (2019)

While you will wonder about the various career options in biotechnology, the first image that pops up is about people in a lab coat. While it addresses one basic biotechnology profession, lab work isn't the lone alternative here. The biotech industry for people searching for jobs is a major economic driver, generating greater GDP.

Which is the best biotech colleges in Gwalior?

PP
Pablo Patranabish Posted On : June 18th, 2021
Journalism and Mass Communication & English Literature at Amity University, Gwalior

In Gwalior, to pursue biotechnology courses there are some very good colleges like MITS, ITM, Amity University.

  • MITS is a government college and it is a very reputed and popular college. The fee structure of this college is around 1 - 1.5 lakhs/year which is very less than other colleges, but it is very difficult to get admission here as the competition is very high because of its less fees.
  • ITM and Amity University are both private universities offering biotech courses and among them, Amity University is one of the best to pursue biotechnology courses. But being a private institution, the course fee for BTech at Amity is higher. It is around 6 Lakhs. But you can easily get admission at Amity or ITM.

Your preference order should be - MITS > ITM ~ Amity.

Here are the recent placement statistics for the institutes.

Parameters

MITS

ITM

Amity

Average CTC

5.5 LPA

5.50 LPA

6.70 LPA

Highest CTC

But if you are considering B.Sc or M.Sc in Biotech BIMR and Jiwaji will be better. But before taking admission to any of these institutes check their placement records thoroughly.
