Rather than choosing between institutes, choose the branch you are inclined towards. Determining your future prospects is an indispensable factor when choosing your college. You need to find out what you are willing to do after getting your degree; pursuing higher studies or getting employed.
Had I been in your place, I would have chosen NIT Surathkal because of the branch CSE you are getting. In this high-tech era, CSE is in full bloom and is one of the most coveted branches. Someone who is getting CSE at an NIT should never give that chance up for any other branch that too at a new IIT.
Here is why one should go for NIT Surathkal
The following points prove enough that NITK Surathkal CSE is better than IIT Dhanbad EE. In fact, I would have chosen IIT Dhanwad CSE over electrical or other core branches at old IITs. however, my answer is not directed towards someone who has a particular interest in Electrical, for them IIT EE is the best.
If you are considering doing an EEE from anywhere in Bhopal, please reconsider. Be it LNCT or OIST or RGPV, none of them provide you with good opportunities that you may push your career forward.
The syllabus of EEE is very vast and hard to grasp. It is considered one of the toughest branches. One of my friends opted for it and she thinks that it was a big mistake.
Getting good grades with just an average amount of studies sounds like a dream because if you are not willing to work hard, this branch is not for you.
Most of the students like my friend accepted a career outside of their branch. Though it is somewhat disheartening for EEE students to get jobs in their core fields, even after investing 4 years in them. Most of them ended up in corporate houses or IT firms, doing technical jobs.
IIT Dharwad is a recently established institute that attracts fewer companies and has a small alumni pool. On the other hand, BITS Pilani has graduated more than 50 batches.
The best option would be to take ECE in BITS Hyderabad or ENI in BITS Pilani. The reason I am against you joining a new IIT is that these IITs are not well-known among big companies and some recruiters don’t even consider them worthy of visiting. They know that these IITs can never be at par with the old ones. So it’s better to look beyond the IIT tag and go for BITS Pilani, an excellent choice indeed!
Well, there are benefits for each branch. However, EEE offers you more chances to work in the core-field and other primary areas.
I know a few people from Bannari Amman. According to them, many students and staff from the EEE are engaged in multiple consultancy work. They also undertake AICTE, MNRE approved projects.
The lab facilities are well equipped to carry out academic works. EEE students do get placed in top MNCs and core sector companies through campus placements.
Here is a brief highlight of the recent lament for EEE at the institute.

Placement mostly depends on different aspects. When you train for interviews, you will know about it. Rest, just work hard enough and try not to get any backlogs as many companies demand students with zero to no backlogs.
BITs is autonomus. It sets up their own program. You can download this curriculum from the Anna university portal if you have any doubts about the curriculum part. The autonomous university curriculum and university curriculum are both identical. But the college curriculum itself varies slightly from the university curriculum of Anna. (For example) You can only do one project at the end of the last year in the Anna university program. But you can do projects for each semester at BIT since it’s autonomous.
Below are some of the subjects with codes mentioned to help you out:
Each department will have common topics in the first year and your core topics begin from year 2.
Apart from these, there are going to be practicals which you will have to attend compulsorily as they contain marks as well.
