A friend of mine has told me that IGIT Sarang has the best fests and if someone is enthusiastic about the fests, then it is the place to be. 

It is arguably one of the fewer colleges in Odisha in recent years that welcomes the freshers in the grandest fashion through a fest called Consciencia. Students get acquainted with the legacy of the institution right from the get-go through this fest.

There are so many fests in IGIT that sometimes you will lose track of how much you are prepared for the exams. 

• The annual cult lit fest, Horizon is held in the month of February. 
• Another event that is held alongside is the International Model United Nations. 
• The sports carnival of Orissa called Utsahan is held where all the colleges across Orissa participate.
• A film fest also takes place in the institute where for three days; a film is shown to the students every evening. It’s one of the most anticipated events in the institute. 
• The Fun Fair is held on the 1st of April where the students are free to put their stalls. The students showcase their skills in writing, speaking, debates, and a plethora of other events which also include Mehendi.
• Resplendida is an event where the prizes for different events are awarded. 
• Apart from these, there are separate branch fests like the Quimica which is organized by the chemical branch fest. 
• The metallurgy branch holds the Admantium fest.
• The Technovision is held by the CSE branch.

To conclude, all the branches welcome their freshers through their unique fests. It also organize farewells for students who have completed their education at the institution.

The hostels for the female students are called the Rohini Bhawan and Prithvi Bhawan. The occupancy for the former is 6 students in one room. The hostel is for the first and second-year students.

The Prithvi Bhawan accommodates students who are in their third and final year. The occupancy is 5 students in one room.

The hostel for the first-year students which is more popularly called the Aakash Bhawan accommodates four students in one room. The same can be said for the hostel for the students of the second year which is called the Aryabhatta Bhawan.

The third-year students are allotted the Brahmos Bhawan and the Bhaskar Bhawan. In the former hostel, there are 2 students in one room, and in the latter, there are 4 students.

In the final year, the students are allotted the Surya Bhawan. In this arrangement, 1 student gets one room.

VSSUT Burla is a much better option than IGIT Sarang. VSSUT, Burla - Being the Oldest engineering institute in the state, has some of the best faculty, a huge library, and a wide-spread Alumni net.

Discussed below are a few important points about VSSUT Burla.

• For any branch, VSSUT will be a better option, since it has better placement records, campus infrastructure, clubs, and the cutoff rank is also higher. 
• Most importantly it's autonomous so it has its own examinations and curriculum.
• If you have any problem regarding something you can directly get in contact with the Vice-Chancellor at VSSUT Burla.

One of my cousins was in the same situation, whether to choose VSSUT or IGIT, and he chose VSSUT. If you look up the statistics you will clearly see VSSUT is much better than IGIT.

Both EE at IGIT and IT at VSSUT have the same admission process through JEE mains followed by counseling and interview. IGIT has more seats for EE than for IT in VSSUT so maybe getting admissions in IGIT will be easy in comparison to VSSUT. The placement rate is also good for both universities.

• Teachers are well qualified in their particular fields.

VSSUT Burla

• The infrastructure and facilities of this university are really good. 
• Air-conditioned classrooms, upgraded labs, medical facilities, sports facilities, gym, etc all available on campus. 

Both the universities are good choices for the above courses. Both courses have the same admission process among universities. The placement rate is quite better for IGIT Sarang than VSSUT Burla but if we talk about which one is affordable and has good quality teaching then VSSUT should be the choice.

IGIT Sarang is one of the best government colleges in Orissa. It is also only one government college of Orissa that is eligible to submit an Institutional Development Proposal. The admission process for Electrical Engineering is based on the results of JEE Main and Orissa-JEE. 

The NIRF ranking of VSSUT University is 119 all over India. Likewise in IGIT Sarang, the admission process for Production Engineering and Metallurgy is based on the results of JEE.

Punjab Agriculture University holds #51 rank among universities in India issued by NIRF ranking, 2019. Admission for B. Tech in agriculture is wholly based on the results of JEE mains followed by interviews and counseling. The placement rate is also good for this university.

• The application process is fully online with an application fee of 610 INR. 
• Admissions for Agricultural Engineering are only based on the rank of JEE mains followed by interviews and counseling.

Punjab Agricultural University

• Companies like Aries Agro, Chambal Fertilizers, CMC, IFFCO, Jain irrigation, Kirloskar, Nestle, New Holland, NSM, etc visit every year for placements. 
• The average package offered for this course is 4.2 lakhs and the highest is up to 7 lakhs.

Both IGIT SARANG and Punjab agricultural university are equally good for both the courses. Both have good teaching facilities and good infrastructure. The environment of both Institutes is very friendly and engaging. Placements are available. But if we talk about the university in which we can get admission easily then IGIT Sarang is there as about 120 seats are available for this course and if we see the Punjab university then there are only 8 seats available.

Class Composition 2019-20

• A total of 142 students are enrolled in B.Tech Mechanical Engineering.
• 54 students were present in M.Tech whereas 78 students enrolled in the Diploma program.

KIIT is one of the oldest Engineering and Technology colleges in India and is ranked 301+ in the 2019 Times Higher Education. A superb placement record ever since it's the inspiration is held by the school, right from the department of mining to an exceptional upgrading placement log in computing (CSE) and IT.

IGIT Sarang is indeed among the oldest Engineering Colleges of India that laid the foundation 38 years back. IGIT Sarang is among the distinguished institutes specialized in departments like civil, mechanical, electronics, mining including computing (CSE) mentioned on the official site and a few other reliable websites to be contemplated.

• The department of Training and Placement cells has 500+ Corporate Recruiters associated with a Strong Network of 50,000+ Alumni having 100% placement record.
• The Institute has a tie-up with some renowned companies like Dassault Systemes, Siemens, I.B.M., Tata Steel, Oracle, Microsoft, SAP, Accenture, etc.
• The Highest package offered: 20 lakh L.P.A. by New floats and the Average package offered: 6. 50 lakh LPA

IGIT, Sarang

• Students become eligible for campus placement from the sixth semester.
• Reputed companies like Infosys, T.C.S Patni Computers, Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd Larsen and Toubro Ltd. etc. visit the campus.
• The placement cell was successful in calling 14-15 companies for in campus placements and also conducted many placement drives.
• As per the latest update, the placement has increased a lot ranging between 60 to 70%.

Infrastructure:

• IGIT Sarang has a fully equipped hostel and college which separate hostels for students of all years. Staff quarters and mess facilities with proper lab equipment for Austrians are some other hallmarks of the university. The centralized library has a digitized air conditioner and Wi-Fi facility.
• KIIT provides excellent facilities with more than one computer lab and spacious and clean classrooms. The library consists of more than enough books for all topics and each student is provided with their own Wi-Fi password with good internet speed and unlimited data. There are various simulation labs, physics labs, chemistry labs, etc.

Admission into these colleges is possible via the college entrance exams that they conduct. However, JEE scores are also considered. However, the name of an institute could just be taken as a tag, and you'll possibly pursue your dream job from any of the two institutes mentioned if you stay determined.

IGIT Sarang offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma courses under many technical disciplines. It is the first Government engineering College of Odisha to gain accreditation from the NBA because of its academic excellence.

Infrastructure:

• The Department of Chemical Engineering at IGIT Sarang has equipped laboratories namely fluid flow lab, chemical technology lab, fuel technology lab, heat transfer lab, mass transfer lab, process control lab, chemical reaction engineering lab, and computer-aided design lab.
• The Institute is located in an industrialized belt that possesses different chemical, metallurgical, and power sectors. There is a plentiful possibility for decent cooperation and satisfactory functional education for the students.

Faculty:

• The faculty at IGIT Sarang is very helpful and handles a large batch of students. The college has a very good teaching quality and all the teachers are very helpful in providing students with quality education as well as theoretical and practical knowledge.

The college is now conducting pre-placement training, workshops and gate classes for students in a final and pre-final year. Also, the student is being prepared for exams like cubes, A.M.C.A.T., eLitmus for placements. For the next placement season, the placement cell has started working and contacted many companies. It is quite confident that mass recruiter companies will come for campus placement so it could be said that next year the placement number shall increase.
