I scored 84% in 10th and 78% in 12 from commerce and currently starting a BBA course. I want to know that from my 10th, and 12th marks, will I be selected for an MBA in HR from XLRI Jamshedpur?

84% in 10th and 78% in 12th is a decent score and you can get admission to the XLRI HR program. Although there are no strict guidelines mentioned by XLRI regarding the weightage for 10th, 12th, XAT, and interview. But with the above-mentioned 10th and 12th scores, a good XAT score, and a well-delivered interview, you can get admission into the XLRI Jamshedpur HR course.

How honest are the non-IIM MBA colleges (SPJIMR, NMIMS, SIBM, XLRI) when they say their average package is 12-15L?

FG

SPJIMER, SIBM, and XLRI placement reports are pretty accurate. Rather than the typical average/median CTC method,  SPJIMER publishes its placement report in IPRS format. Every figure mentioned in the placement report is true to the 2nd decimal point.

XLRI and SIBM also keep the placement report transparent. SIBM gets its placement audited regularly. As per the 2022 placement highlights, the average CTC for SPJIMER, SIBM, and XLRI were INR 23.6 LPA, INR 23.06 LPA, and INR 30.73 LPA respectively.

NMIMS inflates the report. The numbers are quite high.

How are XLRI, XIMB, FMS, and NITR to pursue MBA (BM)? What about the placements?

A
Admin Posted On : March 1st, 2024

Consider joining FMS if you don’t have an extraordinary academic background. It is a renowned business school with a really good ROI. Moreover, it only expects a good performance in CAT, and does not consider the past academic performance of the candidates.

Here are some other benefits of joining FMS for your management studies-

  1. It is located in the capital, and thus offers a good exposure.
  2. As a student of FMS, you’ll get to attend a number of seminars, workshops and events.
  3. It has two semesters per year, unlike other business schools that have three. This provides ample time to the students to participate in a number of corporate competitions on national and international level.
  4. It is one of the oldest business schools, and it has a strong alumni network.

All these facts make FMS a really good college for management studies.

Is a PGCBM from XLRI worth doing?

SM
Sanskriti Majumder Posted On : August 16th, 2022
Studied at Xavier School of Management

It depends on your expectations. Doing a PGCBM will certainly be a good addition to your resume. You will get to learn from some of the leading professionals in the field of management. You will also get the opportunity to network with XLRI alumni. You can benefit a lot if you have a start-up idea and want to learn the ropes of management.

But getting better job offers based on the certification can be difficult. A PGCBM is not as valuable as the flagship programs offered by XLRI, in terms of immediate improvement in career outcomes.

Here is the XLRI admission process in brief.

  • Take XAT. It is an aptitude test like CAT.
  • If you clear XLRI cutoff, you will get a shortlist.
  • You have to attend the GD-PI round. It is usually the make-or-break round.

The final selection is based on performance in XAT, Group Discussion, Personal Interviews,  past academics, and relevant work experience.

IIFT is an excellent institution not particularly in India but also in Asia. It is a 55-year-old institution under the ministry of commerce and has the best to offer in areas of International Business and Foreign trade. ISB is quite reputed among students. The global ranking is the selling point and XLRI carries class and quality. It depends on what specialization you want to choose.

The table shows a brief overview of the institutions.

Particulars

XLRI Jamshedpur

ISB Hyderabad

IIFT Delhi

Median Salary

INR 15 LPA

INR 25.7 LPA

INR 18.20 LPA

Entrance Criteria

XAT/GMAT

GMAT / GRE

IIFT

Fees

Rs. 4.26 Lakh

Rs. 37.49 Lakh

Rs. 7.6 Lakh

Comparison:

  • For Foreign trade and Int business, IIFT is way better than even IIMs, let alone XLRI and ISB.
  • IIFTs has affiliations with WTO, UNESCAP, WORLD BANK, and other UN and international research organizations.
  • For HR, XLRI is better than the others. It can be called the Mecca of HR studies. XLRI has a global reputation for HR.
  • XRLI is the first B-school that TATA established to direct the early dreams of Indian business management directed at reconstructing India into a compelling economy.
  • ISB offers a great brand name and a global ranking.

So, choose the institute based on your choice of specialization.
