What is your opinion on JNTUH corrections? Is it genuine? Can one assess themselves with JNTUH percentage? Can you share your experiences?

JP
Jiten Pradhan Posted On : August 3rd, 2023
Studied at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (2020)

The correction staff of JNTU Hyderabad is very careless and has ruined the lives of many ambitious students. One of my friends shared his experiences of studying there. He was very adamant about getting good scores and studying hard in the first year. Despite that, he scored average marks around 68%. In fact, everyone around him got similar marks. Many got demotivated, and many even left while some decided to attempt exams without any preparations and surprisingly got similar results.

Despite it all, he decided to give himself a second chance and studied more rigorously in the second year but the results were similar. This destroyed his ambitions and dreams so he finally gave up in the 3rd and 4th year and decided to enjoy his college life instead.

He later realized that students who were deliberately marked failed to earn more exam fees which in turn was used in improving the infrastructure. This tactic ruined so many lives and it became very challenging to get an interview call from an MNC due to poor scores.

I hope this situation is taken care of as soon as possible so that the lives and dreams of students can be saved!

What is your opinion of the IIT Madras online BSc degree in data science? Will it lead to high paying jobs?

CB
Chandrani Banerjee Posted On : March 29th, 2023
IIT Madras (2018)

IIT Madras offers an online graduate program in data science, which has no age or stream restrictions, and is appealing due to the reputation of the institute and the high demand for data science courses.

The program is divided into three levels, with varying durations, courses, and fees.

However, there are several shortcomings to the program, according to reviews and interactions with IIT Madras students, including:

  • The time factor: The program requires a long time span for completion, with the expectation of 10 hours per course per week, which may be difficult for busy professionals.
  • The experience factor: The course focuses more on theory than practical problem-solving, which may be less useful in the industry. Practical project-oriented training and experience are more valuable in the current job market.
  • The attention factor: The program offers recorded classes instead of live sessions, which may result in less individual attention and doubt clearance.

Other online training programs, such as Skillslash, upGrad, and Great Learning, offer courses that stand out in merit, providing live sessions, project experience guided by industry experts, and career advice.

The online BSc Data Science program offered by IIT Madras is costlier compared to other institutes offering the same program. Some other institutes also offer easier installment plans.

IIT Madras does not guarantee a job or placement after completion of the program.

Therefore, it is best to opt for programs that offer industry experience and save on costs, like the one offered by Skillslash, to ensure job opportunities in the future.

How do I convert a BA CGPA to the percentage of Gauhati University?

AM
Abhinav Mishra Posted On : December 22nd, 2021
B.Sc Geology & Master of Business Administration Degrees, Gauhati University (2019)

Previously, you needed to multiply your CGPA by 10 and subtract 5 from the result to get your percentage according to the norms of Gauhati University. Let’s say you got a CGPA of 8.5. Then your percentage will be 8.5*10=85-5=80%.

Recently, the university has changed the calculation procedure. As per the updated process, the extra 5 is not subtracted while calculating the percentage.

Can I get CSE in KIIT with a rank of 39251?

IB
Ishani Bandyopadhyay Posted On : September 10th, 2021
Studied at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology

Getting CSE in KIIT with a rank of 39251 will be difficult. In 2021, the required cutoff for CSE at KIIT was 5044. KIIT only takes into account your score in KIITEEE and your board percentage for admission.

However, if you get admission to a different branch, there is still an option for changing the branch to another department. If you have the required GPA in the first semester, then you can put it in the application for changing the branch to whatever they wish for. You can talk to the seniors and know the procedure.

Why did Rohan Jain choose to join IIM Ahmedabad after scoring a high GMAT score?

DS
Devesh Sukhani Posted On : February 15th, 2021
Doctoral (PhD) Candidate in Finance at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (2018-present)

Rohan Jain’s goal had always been to be in IIM Ahmedabad and preparing for CAT. He took preparation for GMAT because the same for CAT was going well. He thought appearing for both examinations would open more openings for a good career so he went forward with his decision. GMAT has a validity of five years and would give the CV an edge over that of other candidates.

He chose to pursue MBA from IIM Ahmedabad instead of a foreign university for the following reasons:

  • Requirement of work experience: Most of the business schools outside India require a minimum work experience. Rohan Jain did not have any work experience at all so it made no sense to him to look towards an uncertain future by not choosing to pursue his degree at IIM Ahmedabad.
  • Diversity in Profile: The highly reputed business schools such as Harvard and Stanford require a lot of diversity in profile. Many IITians and other engineers actually work in the social sector for some years for making a unique profile. The US business schools aim to maintain the diversity in culture by allowing admission to candidates from all countries. Rohan Jain did not want to gamble his future on something that is so outside his control.
  • Job Location: He was not sure if he wanted to work in another country. If he had returned to India after achieving his degree, he is skeptical if the finances would have worked.

He has completed his MBA successfully and did not regret his decision of joining IIM Ahmedabad.

How is the Wi-Fi speed at the NIT Trichy?

RM
Ramesh Mishra Posted On : August 31st, 2021
B.Tech. from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (2017)

One of my friends graduated from NIT Trichy and here are some details about the wifi and its availability around the campus.

  • The Wi-Fi speed varies depending on the hostel you are in and the location of the room in the hostel.
  • The lucky ones who have a wifi router just outside their room are lucky enough to get such rooms.
  • They can stream online and don’t have to worry about slow connection speed.
  • However, sometimes it disappoints because of a few technical issues but then this is something that will happen and get rectified and then happen again.
  • Hostel room allotment is computer-based and so you are too lucky to get a good one. Rest the world works on negotiations.

First-year and third-year hostels have good wifi compared to second and fourth-year hostels. For the second floor, it’s amber, for the third floor it’s zircon, and for the fourth floor, it’s garnet. The WiFi speed is overall good. At night, the wifi speeds go up to 4 to 5 MBPS.
