These were a few examples of the type of variety in curriculum one experiences at Ashoka University, and it's embedded in all of their programs. Although the administration is not very amiable. My friends at IIT HSEE face a similar issue with the administration and the courses are not as varied either.
The final decision is yours. You should choose based on what is the outcome you want from your degree.
The Naval and Architecture Engineering program at IIT Madras is offered in 8 to 10 semesters through BTech and BTech+MTech dual program levels. Here is an overview of other highlights of both programs and IITs:
Admission Requirements:

Placement:
Foreign Internships and research opportunities with John Hopkins University, University of Melbourne, Amazon, and Texas Instruments of up to 6 weeks-10 weeks are offered to students of the naval engineering program during winter and summer breaks.
The choice should be based on the branch you are interested in. Among all the branches mentioned in the question, Electronics is the one highly ranked concerning the opportunities available in the industry. Also, Electronics is the most sought branch in IIT BHU along with CSE. According to 2019 placement statistics out of 100 students from the electronics engineering branch, 88 got placed.
Mechanical Engineering ranks a bit low in IIT BHU in comparison to Electronics. Though Mechanical Engineers find several opportunities in the form of PSUs and government organizations in India. In 2019 placement drive 109 students from the mechanical engineering department got placed. The average CTC offered in IIT BHU was around 8.19 lakhs.
Aerospace engineers in India have very limited opportunities after graduation Aerospace Engineering department at IIT Madras has good opportunities and exposure in comparison to many institutes in India. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Indian Space Research Organisation also hail from the southern part of India and this might help in the placement procedure though several students look for non- core opportunities or Masters in Design Engineering for a better future in India. When placements are concerned, IIT Madras has a slight edge over IIT Kanpur. As far as foreign universities are concerned, many students get summer internships abroad in the USA, Germany, Russia, France, and Italy from both the institutes. Many students go for MS and Ph.D. programs in esteemed Universities like the University of Maryland, Stanford University, Purdue University, etc. Though getting internships and foreign university admissions entirely depend on how hard one works irrespective of which IIT they belong to.
IIT Madras is ranked 1st in the engineering category by NIRF Ranking 2020 making it one of the leading engineering colleges in India preferred by eligible students making it their first option. It has a strong faculty helmed by reputed and highly educated professionals. Last year, the cut off ranged from 90-5000. In the year 2018-19, this IIT had an outstanding placement season with recruiters coming from companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Rolls Royce India Pvt. Ltd., Apple India Pvt. Ltd., Visa Inc., Uber, etc. IIT Madras had the highest offered salary of 16 lakhs per annum for the undergraduate engineering program.170 students out of 189 were placed in these companies. A 65% placement rate from the civil engineering department was observed.
IIT Madras is enriched with facilities like Hostel, Libraries, Common Rooms, Music rooms, Dance rooms, Indoor games, swimming pools, gym, cricket ground, multipurpose indoor stadiums, food courts and a hospital on campus.
IIT Bhubaneswar is one of the newer establishments of IIT. Unlike IIT Madras, it does not have the infrastructure or the strong faculty as it is still in the developing phase. IIT Bhubaneswar in 2019 had a placement percentage of 83% from the Mechanical Engineering department. The core engineering departments are very much valued by students as well as professionals. More than 110 students were recruited by companies like Accenture, Renault, HP, Amazon, Jio, Adobe, etc. students were offered a salary of 11 lakhs per annum in the year 2019.
So, while choosing the institute keep in mind your rank and the choice of subject. Depending on that you can decide where to study.
IIIT Hyderabad is considered to be one of the best colleges in the country to pursue computer science and engineering due to the excellent consistency it has obtained with the placement rate and the strong conceptual foundation offered to the students along with an intensive hands-on experience in designing and building prototypes. The college is mostly renowned for the highly consistent placement rate of the CSE branch which is mostly over 90%, and a 100% placement rate of CSE branch was recorded during the 2018-19 academic session with the highest CTC of 46 LPA. Whereas, the median and average CTC offered was respectively, 20 LPA and 8 LPA. The major recruiters were Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, VMware, Walmart, etc.
IIT Madras which has been ranked as the no. 1 engineering college in India many times by NIRF has got some of the most prestigious and dedicated faculty members. They impart in-depth practical and theoretical knowledge through an extensive curriculum that makes the students ready for industry. The college had a 86% placement rate for electrical engineering in the session 2018-19, while the average salary package offered was 12.4 LPA. Top recruiters offering roles of analyst, software engineer, hardware engineer, power engineer are Intel, Goldman Sachs, Adobe, ISRO, American Express, and many more.
Both the courses are vastly different from each other and both institutions are the premier institutions of the country, and it would not do justice to pick one over the other. So choose the institute based on your choice of branch.
The choice should be based on your subject of interest. IIT Bhubaneswar is among the newly open IITs, whereas IIT Madras is an oldest and well-established institute.
IIT Madras offers dual degree programs in Engineering Design. It is a very practical course and offers a lot of opportunities. The students with a good GPA can get recruited by core companies. In 2019 placements, students of ED got placed in reputed companies with packages ranging between 7 LPA to 26 LPA. The placement rate of ED was 83%.
The department of Mechanical Engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar has good infrastructure and classrooms. It also has a product design lab, the place where all engineering design comes alive. A total of 89 companies visited the campus at IIT Bhubaneswar in the year 2019. Big core companies like Tata Steel, TCS, L&T, HP, Renault Nissan, Indian oil, and Maruti Suzuki recruited students from the ME department. In the year 2019, 83% of students of ME batch got placed in these companies with an average package of 11.43 LPA. The highest number of jobs was offered by the core sector. PSU like ISRO, IOCL, and NCCBM also participated in the campus placement. The department has several laboratories such as CAD & manufacturing, Robotics & Control, Nanomechanics, and Material science. Institute has also several mechanical related or robotics society which provides an excellent educational experience.
The aerospace course in IITM is a well-structured course. IIT M is also the top-ranked IIT in our country (NIRF Ranking-1). The placements for this branch have been consistent over the years. In the 2019 placement drive, the institute witnessed 70% placement offers with an average annual CTC of 16.1 LPA.
ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar is a new course as it was started in 2016 and the first batch will graduate in 2020. The syllabus of ECE follows the curriculum of IIT KGP and incorporates the latest industry trends. The infrastructure in terms of labs, faculty, etc. are commendable at IIT Bhubaneswar, but in terms of placements for this branch, it’s not as good as the aerospace branch at IITM. There are no past placement records for the ECE department but the overall placement rate in 2019 was 90% with an average CTC of 11.44 LPA.
While considering the branches individually ECE seems to be a better option than aerospace. ECE opens up a wide array of options, for example, manufacturing jobs, while the scope of the aerospace course in the niche. Finally, if comparing both the courses IIT Bhubaneswar’s ECE may offer good scope due to its traditional nature, but in terms of placements and overall quality of the course, IITM’s aerospace engineering is better.
