Is hostel life in NIT Trichy good? Are there bad people in terms of character?
Hostel life in NIT Trichy is amazing. If you are a first-time hostelite like me, full of amazing hostel memories. I will break my answer into various hostels and the kind of life they offer.
- Agate: Agate is the biggest hostel for first-year students and has spacious rooms. It is in close proximity to the mess and the lecture hall. Diamond: This is the most popular hostel for first-year students and has the best amenities. The hostel rooms are spacious and the hostel is near both the mess and the lecture hall. The hostel is well-ventilated and mostly the residents are DASA students.
- Coral: This hostel has smaller rooms and the first floor has many insects. But it’s near the non-vegetarian mess, the LHC, and the campus Big Bazaar.
- Jade: This one is not far away from both the mess and the LHC. It's a recently made hostel, especially for first-year students. It’s in close proximity to the shopping complex with a huge ground in its back.
- Opal (Girls Hostel): This is one of the finely designed and equipped hostels This is a huge protected fortress. The rooms are very cozy and comfortable and you will find all kinds of facilities like messes, a bakery, a beauty salon, a photocopy shop, sports fields, an air-conditioned computer lab, and a laundry shop.
Every NIT Trichy hostel has its own common indoor sports and a table tennis room. The hostellers are not bad people but very friendly and will make your college life exciting and memorable.
What should be the preference order for the following: NIT Surathkal EEE, NIT Warangal EEE, NIT Trichy EEE, MANIT Bhopal (hometown) EE, MNNIT Allahabad EE, NIT Calicut EE, and MNIT Jaipur EE?
For EE/EEE, out of NIT Surathkal, NITW, NIT Trichy, MANIT Bhopal, MNNIT Allahabad, NIT Calicut, and MNIT Jaipur, I would suggest three institutes in the following order of preference-
- NIT Surathkal
- NIT Trichy
- NIT Warangal
My best friend is studying EEE at NITK and he is quite happy with the department. The teachers in the department are a bit strict. But if you bring up a good project idea and stay attentive in their class, you’ll be in a good position. Also, scoring good grades can be a bit tough, but with hardwork and good preparation, you will surely ace your exams.
In terms of EEE placements, NITK, NIT Trichy, and NITW are all equally good options.
As a NITK student, you will get certain benefits. These are-
- NITK is the only institute in India to have a private beach.
- Among the three institutes that I have listed, NITK is the most suitable for people from other parts of India. Even though there is a 50% state quota, you will find plenty of North Indians and people from other parts of India. You will rarely face a language barrier because most people on campus understand English.
- You can showcase your technical skills at the IEEE technical club of NITK.
- Technites of ‘Engineer’, the techfest of NITK, does some brilliant work with electronics.
Thus, out of NIT Calicut, NITK, NITW, and all the other options listed by you, I would suggest you to choose NITK Surathkal for your EEE.
Is it good to pursue an M.Tech in Data Analytics at NIT Trichy?

Which is better for B.Arch- NIT Trichy, NIT Calicut or Jamia Milia Islamia?
All three colleges fall on the list of top Architecture institutes in India. NIT Calicut and NIT Trichy are known for Architecture as their best programs. Having to know some people studying in these institutes, I can say that though NITs are the best for architecture, Jamia is also at par with them.
- It is obvious that NIT is a much more popular brand than Jamia. But it is still really good when it comes to architecture.
- Jamia has the locational advantage of being situated in the capital city.
- Jamia has better industrial exposure compared to NIT Trichy or Calicut.
- The course curriculum of NITs is more inclined towards the technical side, which is an upside.
- Placements at NITs are definitely better, but Jamia is also not lagging behind.
- The infrastructure is better in the NITs than Jamia, be it labs, seminar halls, library, etc.
- The fees at NITs are a bit higher than Jamia.
- Though students will get better opportunities after graduating from NIT Trichy or Calicut.

Therefore, it is suggested that you opt for NIT Trichy or Calicut for pursuing architecture. If not then you can go for Jamia instead, as it is also a good college.

How is life at NIT Trichy for a girl?
The dress code for NIT Trichy has been removed for girls. The curfew timings of the hostel are more strict for girls than they are for boys.
The amount of freedom that any girl at NIT Trichy gets is very relative. For example, NIT Trichy is way more liberal with girls, when it is compared to VIT where a girl is not even allowed to shake hands with a boy or walk anywhere near to him. But on the other hand, if you compare it with BITS Pilani, then you might think that NIT Trichy is strict for girls. But when it comes to academics, clubs, cultural and technical festivals, there are no restrictions at all.
Which is better, NIT Trichy CSE or Jadavpur University CSE?
NIT Trichy is definitely better than Jadavpur University and NIT Trichy. Following are the reasons for the same:
- NIT Trichy has a better QS world ranking than JU.
- It has a great entrepreneurial culture. Many of the alumni of the institute have moved on to found technological and social ventures in India and abroad. They can be found in the list of CEOs in some companies that are listed in Fortune India 500 and Forbes Global 2000.
- NIT Trichy also has a good placement record. In 2021, the average CTC offered was 6 LPA.
Jadavpur University is also a reputed institute. With time the quality of education at JU is also improving. So, I will suggest you do your own research and choose an institute that works best for you.
In terms of rate of growth in next 4 years which would be better option: CSE, NIT Trichy or IT, IIIT-Allahabad?
IIIT Allahabad has an awesome coding culture. You can note the difference when you interact with a lot of engineers from other colleges. In old engineering colleges for the first year, you would be doing foundry and welding. You might also end up learning English etc. but actual coding starts after 1st semester or in the second year. While at IIIT Allahabad coding starts from the very beginning of the course.
Highlights:
- IIIT Allahabad has an awesome course structure and meets the demand of current times.
- In IIIT Allahabad they teach C or C++ in 1st year and Java in 2nd year.
- IIIT Allahabad lacked in Professors but then this was made up by the awesome students and seniors.
- The most important thing in IIIT Allahabad was how to learn. This has helped many students throughout their careers.
- Students in IIIT Allahabad start coding through a completely different language in just a day and it has never felt that it is a big deal because this is what was expected from IIIT Allahabad.
- This is because the student is expected to complete one project each semester and they will get no help from your professors.

Also, there is a great culture of competitive programming in the institute. There are students in other premium engineering colleges who wouldn't have coded completely their engineering. This is unheard of in IIIT Allahabad.

- In general, you will find here students staying up late at night and waking up tired and missing classes in the process.
- To make your experience unique, try waking up early in the morning and going for a walk.
- Exercise and watch the sunrise. Trust me the ethereal feelings you will go through will be a big driving force in setting your sleep schedule right. When half the college sleeps, you will be roaming around in the bliss of Mother Nature. The positive energy and motivation this experience will provide will make your day productive.
- You can have a refreshing breakfast after the walk and take a nap once you are done!
This experience will boost your energy levels and give you positive vibes.
How are the salary packages of Architecture undergraduates from SPA Delhi, NIT Trichy and NIT Calicut?
If you have taken architecture expecting hefty packages then you have come to the wrong place. Architecture is all about your skills and experience. The increase in salary packages is proportional to the increase in your experience and skills. You have to begin with a very small package and patiently gain experience under the most renowned architects. Slowly you will see an increase in your salary as time passes and you become more experienced.
SPA is visited by many MNCs that have their offices in India. Such companies offer a salary of around 36000/- month. They make the candidates go through a rigorous screening process in the form of exams, portfolios, and interviews. As a beginner, you will just be responsible for the basic task initially like making presentations or toilet details.
