Which should I aim for: BITS Goa CS or CS in NIT Warangal/Trichy/Surathkal?
You can opt for NIT Warangal even if you get admission to another branch. They have an interesting branch-changing policy. If you are ready to work harder, then you can opt for any other degree and score high marks in the first year, which will allow you to switch to CS after your first year. This institute offers quality education, good infrastructure, and good placement support to its students.

How does NIT Trichy have 95% placement? Even IITs don't have that much.
There are many strong reasons why NIT Trichy has able to achieve 95% placements when even some IITs haven't.
- Firstly, the age-old legacy of the institute and its high brand value attract the best peers as well as recruiters.
- Secondly, the alumni pool is huge and many of the alumni are working in top positions in foreign companies. So, during placements, these alumni give preference to students of their alma mater and thus the placements are better.
- NIT Trichy has well-equipped R & D labs with modern instruments raising the standard of education and research.

However, I would like to negate your point that NIT Trichy has better placements than IIts. it does have better placements but only when compared to the new IITs. It's still behind the old IITs in terms of placements.

These students dont learn everything on their own as they are guided by the seniors during the initial months. Students are taught about the entire placement process from how to approach it and how to prepare for it. You will have to do a lot of self-study as well but many seniors conduct classes on competitive programming and other subjects. Students tend to clear their doubts and understand the basics better in these classes and the seniors are very helpful.
Even as a first-year MCA student at NIT Trichy you won't feel lonely or lost for a second as the seniors offer constant assistance in the form of notes, papers, questions, and anything related to it. Some helpful seniors even conduct mock interviews for second-year or first-year students. However, you need to maintain good relations with your seniors in order to seek help from them. These three colleges can be compared with each other on several factors. I am listing below these factors-
- College tag- Both the tags- ‘BITSIAN’ and ‘NITIAN’ are reputable. Both will help you in your career. But as far as international recognition is concerned, a BITSIAN tag holds more value.
- Peer Group- BITS Hyderabad has a better crowd because of no reservation scheme. NITs have caste based reservation and home state quota.
- Infrastructure- BITS Hyderabad is the newest BITS, so it has a better infrastructure than the other two colleges. Its infrastructure is better than BITS Pilani as well. NITs are government institutions which receive government funding mostly for research, and rarely for infrastructural development.
- Placements - BITS Hyderabad offers good CSE placements, at par with NIT Trichy and NIT Surathkal. Its placement record is improving with time. However, these NITs offer better placements for core branches due to PSU visits.
- Faculty- The faculty is top notch at all these colleges. However, NITs experience a shortage of professors which causes problems for the students.
- Alumni network- All the BITS campuses have a common alumni network- BITSAA. BITSAA is the second largest alumni network after the IITs. It is bigger than the alumni networks of these NITs.
- Degree- All the BITS students are offered the same degree, irrespective of the BITS campus.
- Research- In terms of research, NIT Trichy and NIT Surathkal are a better option.
- Fees - The fees at BITS Hyderabad is quite high. NITs are government colleges, so their fees are low. BITS offer scholarships and scholar loans of 20 lakhs to students. You can definitely opt for NITs in case of financial constraints.
NIT Surathkal, NIT Trichy and BITS Hyderabad are all good colleges for your CSE degree. They are a much better choice than the new IITs. You can choose any of them based on your personal preference.

- The fest at NIT Trichy is also better than IIIT Allahabad.

A higher rate of students at NIT Trichy belongs to the core branch whereas, at IIIT Allahabad, the majority of the students are coders. Therefore, the coding culture at IIIT Allahabad is better than NIT Trichy.

IIIT Allahabad is a much better option if you wish to do MS from foreign universities.

- Campus life: IIIT Allahabad has a very rigid and restricting campus life as you will be surrounded by nerds. The academics are very tough and most of the time will be spent in completing assignments. NIT Trichy has a bit of flexible and lively campus life.
- Clubs: IIIT Allahabad does not look beyond academics and the extracurricular culture here is very lacking. The clubs here are very few in number in comparison to NIT Trichy which has more than 50 clubs.
- Coding culture: IIIT Allahabad being the academic m-oriented institute obviously has better coding culture than NIT Trichy which focuses on the overall development of its students. NIT Trichy has more students in core branches than CS.
- Higher studies: If you are planning to go for higher studies such as an MS from a top foreign university, then IIIT Allahabad will be a better choice for you.
Considering the fact that the placement scenario of both the institutes is at par with each other, choosing one over the other depends on the kind of college life you prefer. The MCA program offered by NIT Kurukshetra is highly regarded and can be compared to that of NIT Trichy easily. It offers the resources, academic environment, and facilities necessary for a good learning experience. However, at some point, you have to resort to self-studying because the teachers cannot spoon-feed you all the time.
You will have to make yourself eligible for the placements by working hard to add value to your CV. More than the reputation of the institute it's your efforts that matter. You can join various tech clubs to get better exposure and learn coding.

In my opinion, any college that has decent placements will offer great opportunities if you are determined and work hard to achieve your goals.

There are a total of 90 clubs in NIT Trichy and 10 departmental symposiums.
Some of the NIT Trichy clubs under the 4 main categories are-
- Tech Clubs- Delta, Spider, RMI, 3D and Aeromodelling. The first three clubs come under computing groups. If you are interested in computing and coding, go for them during the inductions.
- Festive Clubs- Pragyan, Festember, Nittfest, Aaveg, Horizons, among others.
- Departmental Clubs and Symposiums- The symposiums are spread over 2 days and usually include paper presentations, guest lectures, workshops, and other events related to a central theme. Some of the department-specific symposiums are-

What is the placement scenario for energy engineering at NIT Trichy?
My sister was a student of the Energy Engineering branch at NIT Trichy and is currently working for Robert Bosch. Her batch was placed decently and she claims that most students with a Mechanical and Electrical background got good job offers. Is the chemical and biotechnology students that suffered the most. For them, it’s better to pursue research than look for a job.
In 2018, her entire batch of 11 students was placed mainly because all the students were from the Electrical or Mechanical branch.
So we can say that the placement scenario of Energy Engineering at NIT Trichy is decent and the job opportunities depend on your profile and background.
