What are the drawbacks of NIT Jamshedpur?

SS
Saurabh Seth Posted On : September 4th, 2023
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (2020)

Here are a few drawbacks of NIT Jamshedpur that the ex-students talk about

  • Infrastructure: The reason NIT Jamshedpur is so poorly ranked is because of its poor infrastructure. However, the infrastructure is improving constantly and this can be reflected in the newly constructed Mega Hostels that provide single rooms to students. Other new facilities are being implemented.
  • Location: Jamshedpur faces major location disadvantages due to the lack of air connectivity. Most recruiters refrain from visiting the campus because of these transport issues. However, an inactive airport here Sonari is rumored to start operating again. again.
  • Attendance Policy: Although the institute has a policy of 75% attendance, students do not follow it and skip classes frequently. However, the new director has implemented strictness in this matter and now even last year students attend classes regularly.

So it can be concluded that most drawbacks of NIT Jamshedpur are being addressed and none of them hamper the academics to the point the institute's credibility needs to be questioned.

What is the chance of upgrading your branch in IIT Kharagpur?

PG
Pratik Gandhi Posted On : March 27th, 2023
B.Tech. CSE, IIT Bombay

Most IITs have the option of branch change in the middle of the year. IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur have very limited seats for branch change that too at the end of the first and second year only.

IITs have adopted this strategy to ensure students study the branch that matched their preferences only.

According to a report, around 10% of a particular branch get the opportunity to switch branches. The linear ranking system of students that evaluates the students based on performance has resulted in tough competition thereby the branches being allocated on the basis of scores. The vacancies as the result of these strict evaluations are then filled by students who opt for branch change. These branch changes are made on the basis of performance only.

IIT Kanpur is way ahead of other IITs and allows branch change even after 2 years. Additionally, students are allowed to pursue a major under which 10 courses for another stream can be chosen apart from a minor. This trend is highly observed among mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science streams. The ultimate purpose is to let students study the subject that intrigues them and becomes a source of motivation to perform better.

Can one get into FMS Delhi after having a year back in graduation?

RS
Radhika Srivastava Posted On : January 10th, 2023
MBA in Marketing & Operations Management, Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi (Graduated 2020)

To begin with, FMS does not take into account your graduation grades when making final hiring decisions or shortlisting candidates. Only your 10th and 12th-grade marks are taken into account, and they are only worth 5 points each. As a result, the grades you received in previous exams will have little bearing on you.

When it comes to a year back, it's becoming increasingly difficult to explain this. Any B-School expects you to have at least average grades on your previous exams.

Whatever is done is done, and it is recommended that you do not focus solely on one college, but rather keep your options open, and then prepare well for the CAT, because if you do not perform well in the CAT, all of these discussions are futile. It's better to think about all of this after the CAT because even if you don't get calls from these colleges, you'll have done your best and will be happy in whatever B-School you choose. So, first and foremost, prepare thoroughly for the CAT.

Fill the form for the migration certificate, make payment online and then submit it in the 1st hour so that you receive it by evening.

Why are laptops not allowed for the 1st year in VNIT Nagpur?

KM
Kaushal Madnani Posted On : October 30th, 2023
VNIT, Graduated 2019

At present, the first year students of VNIT Nagpur are allowed to carry laptops. However, laptops aren’t allowed in the classrooms.

This has been done to avoid over consumption of social media content by the students, especially at the cost of their lecture time. Social media addiction has become one of the major concerns of our day and age. The authorities understand the need of going online, but the same has to be limited to some extent.

This is the best time for you to make new friends, interact with people, and join extracurricular activities. Even though mobile is an even greater distraction, it is quite impossible to eliminate it from our lives, even for a second.

Apart from skill enhancement and coding, try to limit your screen time. Make the most of the opportunities in front of you, and make deeper connections with other people.

The authorities are somewhat right in prohibiting the use of laptops in classrooms for first year students.

Is it possible to have a migration from DU SOL to DU regular on the basis of your first year percentage?

FR
Falguni Rahaman Posted On : October 5th, 2021
M.A Modern Indian & World History,University of Delhi (2016)

DU SOL follows an annual system while the other colleges under Delhi University follow a semester system. Therefore, there is no possible migration in between the courses.

At DU, the semester system for UG courses was introduced back in 2011. Which made it difficult for DU SOL students to seek migration in the second or third year of their courses in regular college.
