How much percentage of marks is needed to get a 9+ CGPA in KJ Somaiya College of Engineering (Since it has become autonomous)?

HK
Harshal Kulkarni Posted On : December 26th, 2022
M.B.A from K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SIMSR) (Expected 2024)

KJ Somaiya does not follow a relative grading system.

Before answering your question let's discuss how to calculate the grade of a particular subject. Every subject has its own credits which are preassigned (1,2,3 etc.). For example

    1. If you scored 90 in math 1, then you'll get a 10 grade point ( anything above 85 gives you 10 grade points).
    2. The next step is to multiply the grade point and credits (ie. 10*4=40).
    3. Next add up the results for all the subjects.
  • Calculation of CGPA= Added result of all subjects/maximum possible grade point*credit total.

So we can say that securing a 9+ pointer is fairly easy in the First Year at KJ Somaiya. All you need is an average of around 80-85% in semesters and you'll be above the 9-pointer mark.

Can I convert to FMS Delhi if I score 100 percentile in CAT and do really well in the Extempore and PI?

TS
Tanveer Singh Posted On : January 10th, 2023
MBA in Management, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (Graduated 2020)

If you got a perfect score of 100 percentile on the CAT, you're almost there. The reason for this is that FMS has set a very high weightage of 85% for the CAT score in the final selection, so a 100 percentile means you don't need to worry about the other criteria.
However, this 85% does not take your CAT percentile into account. Rather, it considers your CAT scores (not percentile) with the following modifications (the figures represent the weightage given to the specific section):

SECTIONS

WEIGHTAGE

VARC

40%

DI/LR

30%

QA

30%

This gives you your overall score. Additional 5 points are awarded to female candidates who appear for the interview when calculating the composite score.

The following are the weightage in the final section of FMS admission 2023:

How is MNIT Jaipur for an M.Tech in the ECE branch and specialization ECE? Are there any pros and cons?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : October 10th, 2023

MNIT Jaipur ECE branch is highly regarded for its good quality education and research opportunities. MNIT Jaipur offers four specializations under the ECE branch namely:

  • VLSI Design
  • Embedded System
  • Wireless and Optical Communication (WOC)
  • Electronics and Communication

All the above branches are equally good in terms of curriculum and job opportunities so your preference and inclination that should determine the right one for you. All the branches are good in themselves so I would suggest going for your interest. This branch is also a decent choice if you want to prepare for competitive exams as the workload is less and there is a lot of free time.

Here are a few pros and cons of the institute that will help you further decide:

Pros:

  1. An environment conducive to both academics and extracurricular activities.
  2. It’s the best option if you are willing to prepare for competitive exam
  3. An excellent college for presenting papers so its Ph.D. program is highly valuable.
  4. The professors are highly approachable and experienced.
  5. MNIT Jaipur has a well-stocked library even better than some IITs.

Cons:

  1. The placement scenario isn't on par with IITs yet. Moreover, most companies prefer BTech students to MTech students so you have to be among the toppers to get a decent package.
  2. The lab facilities are poor so the level of research conducted is also average.
  3. The institute follows the Biometric attendance system

Ultimately, makes a wise decision after weighing the pros and cons.
