Is it worth joining IIM Calcutta for a person with average/below average profile?
First let's sink in the fact that anyone who gets a call from IIM Calcutta is anything but average or below average. The fact that you got selected is enough to claim that you are not below average.
But if you still consider your profile inferior to others then you need to put in extra efforts within the institution. Honestly even the above average students have to put tremendous effort inside any IIM. Look at the bright side. You, being a below average student, just need to put in more effort than an average student to get at a level equivalent to that of an above average candidate.
So yes, it is worth joining IIM Calcutta with whatever profile you have.

The weights assigned to different parameters are 56 to CAT score, 10 to class 10 marks, 15 to class 12 marks. So you will need to score at least 80+ marks in class 10 and 12 to get into IIM Calcutta.
Can IIM Calcutta PGP students get a job at multinational banks like Citi and HSBC in the US from placements?
Multinational banks, private equity firms, and investment banks used to pay a visit to IIMs to directly recruit candidates for the US. It no longer happens. If we compare PGDCM and PGDM at IIM Calcutta, we see that both the courses have the same networking, placements and even infrastructure.
Now if you compare both the IIMs, IIMC and IIML, there is hardly any difference in the curriculum or even placements. So deciding which IIM to go for depends on your own preferences.
But if you are planning to quit IT then I suggest going for the full-fledged MBA course from IIM Lucknow rather than a system at IIM Calcutta.
IIM Lucknow will offer excellent exposure and placements and you will end up getting an above average salary package for consulting.
Is it absolutely necessary to wear a suit for an MBA interview? I received an interview call from IIM calcutta for PGPEX. I want to know if it is ok not to wear a suit.
As far as the dress code is concerned, there are no strict restrictions. Many wear suits while others wear anything formal. You can even go with a formal shirt with formal pants. Honestly wearing a suit in such heat conditions is not exactly a good decision.
Another option is you can wear a suit after reaching the campus. There are stalls offering discounted suits to interview candidates.
