Which will be better, a 4-year CS course (starting this year) at IIITM Gwalior, CS at IIITDM Jabalpur, or Electrical at MANIT Bhopal?

RS
Rishav Sharma Posted On : March 22nd, 2021
Master of Technology Computer Science, Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior (2019)

A 4-year CSE from IIITDM Jabalpur will be better than that of IIIT Gwalior. It is a fairly new branch at the institute and students of this branch compete with 5-year IPG steam students which are the main ruler of the institute.

A brief comparison of the courses mentioned in the question is given below.

Particulars

IIITDM Jabalpur

IIITM Gwalior

MANIT Bhopal

Average CTC

9.9 LPA

14 LPA

6.23 LPA

Highest CTC

23 LPA

42 LPA

27 LPA

Top Recruiters

Amazon, Microsoft, L&T, American Express, etc.

Paytm, Myntra, Amazon, Adobe, etc.

Bajaj, L&T, Volvo, etc.

If you only consider placement, Electrical at MANIT Bhopal is not comparable to CSE at IIITs. So, it will be better if you choose a 4-year CSE of IIITDM or a 5-year IPG at IIIT Gwalior.

The ECE branches of all the three NITs you mentioned namely NIT Kurukshetra, NIT Hamirpur, and NIT Durgapur in terms of campus life, job opportunities, and curriculum. However, it's very important to make the most out of the branch you are opting for irrespective of the institute you choose.

Follow the tips below to ensure you avail maximum opportunities as an ECE student

  • Start focusing on programming if you want CSE in the first place because you will be appearing for IT companies. They will evaluate you on the basis of your skills so start working on them.
  • If you are particularly interested in ECE, then joining any of these NITs will offer similar opportunities. Core jobs are usually less so you will have to study core subjects diligently and try to develop strong concepts. Work on projects and add value to your resume so that you can go for off-campus placements too.

Here is a brief companion of the placement statistics of the 3 branches

PK

Which college is best: MAIT or GB Pant?

SR
Siddharth Rathi Posted On : April 23rd, 2021
G.B. Pant Engineering College, Delhi, graduated in 2019

It is difficult to compare colleges. Both are unique in their own way. No college can fulfill all your expectations.

Some of the distinctive features of the institutes are as follows.

Placements:

  • MAIT: The placement for CS in MAIT is around 70-80% and for EEE it is 30-40%. Most of the students of mechanical engineering students in the college find themselves placed in Accenture or Infosys.
  • GB Pant: Despite some core companies coming to the college for placements, the overall placement is not so good. As compared to MAIT, the CS and IT placements are not up to the mark.

Faculty:

  • MAIT: The faculty members of MAIT are more or less experienced. You can get in touch with the teachers to get an in-depth analysis of the course.
  • GB Pant: The faculty is not that cooperative and you will have to study a lot by yourself. The teachers do not have much experience.

Environment and Structure:

  • MAIT: The greenery in the college is not well maintained. The only playing ground in the college. There are two auditoriums in the college and separate blocks for each stream.
  • GB Pant: The environment of the structure leaves a lot to be desired. It could use some renovation.

I know someone who used to be a student of MAIT and she has told me that it has a better record of placements than that of G.B. Pant.

Why should I join IIM Ranchi over other 2nd generation IIMs?

RJ
Ramya Jain Posted On : January 19th, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (Graduated 2019)

You may be considering enrolling in IIM Ranchi or IIM Tiruchirappalli as a student. These are the top two IIMs among the second-generation IIMs, with IIM Ranchi being slightly better. However, there are several factors that you should consider when deciding which institution to attend.

One important factor to consider is the faculty size and background. It is not just the number of faculty members that matters, but also their qualifications and expertise. All IIMs are generally equal in this regard.

Another factor to consider is the knowledge infrastructure, which refers to the library and other learning resources available to students. This can be an important factor, as access to these resources is essential for student success. IIM Ranchi may lag in this area compared to other IIMs.

Physical infrastructure, such as the availability of a residential campus, is also important. Many students value the college life experience and may want to attend an IIM that has its own campus. IIM Ranchi is currently operating on a temporary campus.

Specialized courses are another factor to consider. With the constantly changing needs of industry and academia, it is important to ensure that the IIM you choose offers specialized courses that align with your interests and career goals. IIM Ranchi does offer a specialized HRM course.

The teaching and learning environment, location, and placement record are also important factors to consider. IIM Ranchi has an advantage in terms of location, as it is located near XLRI in Jharkhand, and has a strong placement record.

Ultimately, it is important to carefully research and consider all of these factors before deciding which IIM to attend.

Which college shall I prefer for a CSE: LNCT BHOPAL or SRM Chennai, Ramapuram Campus?

SR
Shweta Raikwar Posted On : September 23rd, 2021
Studied at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, 2020

The four-year BE course in CSE at LNCT Bhopal will cost about 3.40 lakhs excluding the fees for a hostel. Companies like TCS, Amazon, Wipro, Accenture, CTS enjoy great offer packages that can go as high as 20 LPA.

In the case of SRM Chennai, CSE department has academic collaborations with international universities like Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburg, USA. The course fee at the university is 10 Lakhs. Companies like Infosys, Wipro, Oracle, Microsoft, etc often recruit students of SRM and a lot of them are enjoying success abroad.

The best option for you will be LNCT Bhopal as it offers a great ROI when placement packages are seen.

What should I choose? CSE from "KIIT University" or IT from "College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar"?

KV
Krishna Vishwakarma Posted On : June 11th, 2021
B.Tech Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (2017)

It is suggested you choose CSE at KIIT University. One of my friends studied there. According to him, there is no comparison between the branch of KIIT CSE and CET.

  • The companies visiting KIIT include major names such as Microsoft, Amazon, SAP, Dell, Intel, HP.
  • Placements are one of the things you must check before entering a university. KIIT offers good investments.
  • The entire academic and non-academic exposure at KIIT is far greater.
  • The faculty members are qualified from IITs and top NITs. They are skilled and cooperative.

Categories

CSE at KIIT University

Course Fee

12.91 lakh

Course Duration

4 years

Placement Percentage

80%

Highest CTC

39 LPA

Average CTC

10-12 LPA

Recruiting Companies

Dell, HCL, Infosys, Capgemini, etc.

The program applies to CSE, except that in the first semester you have to study biology. KIIT develops practical applications for students as well as the theory of study.

Which is better, CS at Manipal University or CS at IIIT Bangalore?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : October 7th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

IIIT Bangalore is a CS-oriented college that operates from a tiny campus with limited facilities. It’s CS-tailored curriculum and ambiance is what attract coding lovers. As of now, it has only two branches namely CS and ECE. Another great aspect is its no reservation policy which ensures the quality of the crowd is not compromised at all. Here are a few key differences between CS at Manipal and CS at IIIT Bangalore.

  • Coding culture: Undoubtedly, IIIT Bangalore has a better coding culture than MIT Manipal given the fact that it’s a CS-oriented college.
  • Peer group: IIIT Bangalore and MIT Manipal have equally good crowds but since the intake of IIIT Bangalore is less, it has a slightly better quality crowd.
  • Academics: IIT Bangalore has an excellent curriculum and a very supportive faculty pool that makes its academic environment better than MIT Manipal.
  • AI scope: MIT Manipal has a lot of labs for AI and facilities so offers better scope in this field.
  • Placements: IIIT Bangalore has a better placement scenario than MIT Manipal. The average fee package if the former is INR 30.78 LPA while that of the latter is INR 10.45 LPA.

Overall, IIIT Bangalore is a better choice for pursuing a course in CS.
