What options are there for placement in PSIT Kanpur for a mechanical engineer?

SK
Suresh Kumar Posted On : July 26th, 2021
Studied at PSIT Kanpur (2019)

If you have a GATE Scorecard, you will be able to secure a place on the PSIT for mechanical engineering. This is because of the availability of the one Interview Round. But try applying online or calling them for any opening if you are a graduate. They will inform you and organize an interview if they find you relevant.

Whether you will be appointed as a faculty or laboratory assistant according to your qualification. You will continue to work for approximately 2 years as Lab Assistant.

In terms of actual placement at the campus, top recruitment firms like Infosys, Capgemini, TCS, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro visit the campus. Students are given leading jobs such as assistant system engineer, software developer, and business analyst.

The top salary package provided is 26 LPA and the lowest pay package is 3 LPA. The average package available is 3.6 LPA.

In order to better understand the concept, PSIT offers E-classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and training. It focuses not only on teaching academic information but also on implementing it in practice, and hence their practicals are given some importance compared to lectures.

Should I go for PEC Chandigarh Mechanical or NIT Calicut Production?

DS
Disha Sengupta Posted On : September 17th, 2022
Studied at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh

You should go for PEC Chandigarh Mechanical. The institute offers decent placements and career opportunities. The placement rate for Mechanical is around 90%. Companies visiting PEC Chandigarh placements recruit students in both core and non-core profiles. The salary packages offered are in the range of INR 3.6 LPA - 22 LPA.

Also, Production is a niche branch. The career opportunities available in the production field are limited compared to the Mechanical field.

Which should I prefer, SVNIT mechanical or IIIT Vadodara computer science?

SR
Suchismita Roy Posted On : July 5th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Vadodara (2022)

If you are not looking at the branch, then you should think about going to SVNIT for Mechanical. Having friends study in both the institutes, I might be able to provide some details about them.

However, if you have decided that you would like to go for computers and if you could handle that field, IIIT Vadodara is a pretty good choice.

But many people will also advise you to not compare the two branches as they are quite different. NIT Surat is a better option facility wise but let me tell you that getting a job in the mechanical core is quite difficult. A lot of students will also opt for software fields.

Which should I pursue between mechanical at UIET Chandigarh and metallurgical engineering at PEC Chandigarh?

SK
Shanaya Kapoor Posted On : May 4th, 2021
Studied at Amity University (2019)

Surely, Metallurgy at PEC over Mechanical in UIET. There are various important reasons behind this: Placements in PEC are better, companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc. visit campus for placements.

Though metallurgy has fewer placements than other branches in PEC, once you are in PEC and if you are focused enough, you can go for an upgrade after 1st semester on the basis of CGPA. To aim for it, keep the following things in mind -

  • At most, only the top 10% of the class can be upgraded.
  • The branch you want to be upgraded to will only be available if it has vacant seats.

PEC is far superior to UIET in terms of cultural and other extracurricular activities. If you don't have any branch priorities, I'd recommend metallurgy in PEC.

I'm currently pursuing my B.Tech in electrical engineering (2nd year) from MNNIT, Allahabad. What options are open for me after completing my B.Tech?

AG
Aratrika Ghosh Posted On : July 5th, 2021
Studied at IIEST Shibpur (2019)

As an engineering student, after your final year, you will have a lot of options to explore once your degree is complete. It is definitely not that easy but here are a few options to look at:

Private job from College:

  • For this, you will need to get a good CGPA and a job in a core electrical company.
  • You can think of getting jobs in companies like Consulting, IT or Software companies.

GATE and GRE:

  • If you are looking for jobs in the private sector, you can aim to appear for GATE as this will help you secure a really good job in the private sector.
  • For this, you need to have good knowledge about your subjects and information regarding the public sector as many PSUs are looking to hire via GATE scores.
  • You also have the option of doing an M.Tech from an IIT.
  • Lastly, if you are thinking of going abroad, prepare for the GRE and aim for a great score.

MBA:

  • If you are not interested in pursuing your current field, try looking for a placement in a consulting or IT firm.
  • You can secure an experience of 1 to 2 years and enroll in an MBA course to boost your career.

Entrepreneurship: Another great option to try if you are looking to start a business.

These are mainly some of the top few options you have. You can think about each of them carefully and then decide if you would like to remain in your field or switch over.

B.Tech in Biotechnology from Amity University is really good as it is a NAAC Grade ‘A’ University and approved by AICTE and UGC. Amity University is a fair option if you want to pursue your B.Tech in Biotechnology and the two main reasons are – Course and Faculty.

If you do not get into IITs or NITs then Amity can be considered as a good option. Almost all the colleges have the same curriculum and course, the difference lies in the type of placements and opportunities offered by the University.

  • The University maintains a healthy gender ratio where the number of girls outweighs the number of boys.
  • Various debates and quizzes are organized the whole year round for students to participate in. The famous annual fest – Amicroma is also organized by Amity.

Placements:

  • Various internships are offered by the University but they are not paid internships. A student only gets a Recommendation letter.
  • The highest package is around 15 lakhs per annum while the average package falls around 3 lakhs to 4 lakhs per annum.
  • The placement rate for Amity is 97%.

Course Curriculum:

  • The faculty is highly knowledgeable as everybody has completed their Ph.D. in the specialized subject.
  • Various course-related activities are also conducted by the University.

What should I choose, CSE at NITT or CSE at IIIT Allahabad?

GS
Gunjan Sharma Posted On : July 5th, 2021
B.Tech Hons from International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (2020)

IIIT Allahabad does not offer CSE as far as all the NITs in India are concerned, NIT Trichy is the best. The CSE department is quite well recognized too in the institute.

  • If you appeared for the JEE Mains, you would need a rank between 280 to 876 at least to secure a seat here.
  • NIT Trichy has a very big campus and you will have some of the best 4 years of your life here.
  • If you are looking to join some extracurricular activities along with academics, NIT Trichy hosts some of the best Cultural and Technical Festivals in the country known as Festember and Pragyan. You can also participate in various competitions including inter NIT ones.
  • There are some interdepartmental and inter-hostel competitions you can participate in as well.

Categories

NIT Trichy

Course Fee

5.65 lakh

Highest CTC

40 LPA

Average CTC

18 LPA

Recruiting Companies

Infosys, Capgemini, Accenture, Oracle, etc.

When it comes to IIITs, these mainly focus on academic life and not many extracurricular activities. So, if you are getting admission at both these colleges, you should go with NIT Trichy.

Should I take a biotech PCT at DTU or a CSE at Assam University or any other private college? I have a keen interest in computer science but I want a good peer group and a good college life as well.

JM
Jyoti Mann, Posted On : November 15th, 2021
B.Tech from Delhi Technological University (2019)

Choose the course you are interested in, as it will give you a comfort zone, once chosen the institute does not matter much.

  • It is good to go for the brand value of universities, as they provide various opportunities later on.
  • But you should not choose a branch only for the Institute.
  • If you have an area of interest, you can go to any college.
  • But it is better to opt for a course in a college which has a bit of a good reputation.
  • When you sit for internships or placements, being from a related branch is preferred.
  • You should keep all these in mind when you opt for any course anywhere.

If you are able to secure a seat in DTU, it should not be hard to get admission in a better college. So, you should try exploring other colleges preferably in the metros for the ease of networking and employment opportunities. Isolated colleges have their own flaws.
