I have a friend at NIT Jamshedpur, so I can give you a brief idea about the CSE department.
The placement of the CSE department in NIT Jamshedpur somehow reached some new highs over the last few years. Students from the CSE department have a placement average of around 95%.

Although if you are aspiring for an MS or MBA, then NIT Jamshedpur is probably not the best choice for you. You will get ample time during vacations to prepare but the environment of the institute is not ideal for the preparation of these examinations.

How is CSE at NIT Rourkela?
CSE at NIT Rourkela isn’t a very good option given that its curriculum is outdated and the pedagogy adopted to deliver modern concepts is very obsolete. Most of the foundation courses are taught like Maths which only cover the theoretical aspect of CSE. For the practical perspective involving implementing and developing new things, you will have to resort to self-study.
The faculty is very cooperative and assists you with innovative ideas and guides you in their respective fields. One of my friends and his batchmates set up a cluster to share large computations over a network and received enough guidance from the professors. However, as for the implantation details, they had to go the extra mile and figure out that stuff themselves.
In general, students who are keen to transform their rhetorical knowledge of computers into practical ones have to resort to self-study. So, the opportunities offered at NIT Rourkela CS are plenty if you make the right use of them.
Which engineering college is best for a CSE in Rajasthan: Jaipur National University, Arya College or Poornima University?
According to the reviews online, among the mentioned three colleges, it is recommended that you go for Poornima University (PU).
Here are some things about PU that makes it better than the others:
- They have an updated academic curriculum, which follows up with the recent industry trends.
- Their examination structure is also modified to match recent trends.
- Their on-campus placements are really good.
- Students get job offers from reputed companies like HP, Accenture, Wipro, HCL, etc.
- A student with an overall good academic record gets offered a salary package of 9-10 LPA.
- Usually the average salary package offered is 5-6 LPA.
- Their education has a practical approach.
- Seminars, industry visits, etc. also are conducted.
- The facilities and amenities are well adequate for an educational institution.
PU is considered to be one of the best private universities of Northern India. The placement statistics at the university are much better than most of the colleges and universities in the city. So therefore, between Arya, JNU, and Poornima, PU will be the better choice.
After dropping 2 years I got an admission in NIT Jamshedpur in the CSE branch. Will it affect the placements?
When it comes down to whether or not a decision affects your placement, it, first of all, depends on how you have prepared and put effort into your studies. If you have not put much effort into your studies and have rather studied in an unresponsive and impassive manner, then a bulk of companies actually rejecting you is more obvious.
If you want to pursue your goal and more often than not, have prepared to not let any individual material affect you, then these are ways you can aim with:
- Aim for your Academia: You should have a checklist of several professors from various other universities who can lend a hand in providing you research-oriented topics to further work on during your summer breaks. This is one way by which you can aim at greater selection, only if you stand out in the project.

It will help build a reputation and can gain you exposure in the industrial side. Other than that, you can always go up for management and courses other than the one stated above. It however depends completely on you.
What should I choose, a dual degree MSc program in BITS Hyderabad or some branch in NIT Raipur, or CSE in NIT Puducherry?
Choose BITS Hyderabad over NIT Raipur or NIT Puducherry. Here are some of the reasons for choosing this institute:
- They offer a beautiful campus with an enthusiastic student crowd.
- BITS Hyderabad has updated modern machinery and lab facilities.
- The placements definitely differ between the BITS and NITs.
- NIT Raipur is very old-fashioned in its approach towards studying and learning.
- Their faculties teaching method is old and prefers their students mugging up notes rather than learning and understanding something.
- BITS, unlike NIT Raipur, their teaching method is industry-oriented.
You might think that going for a dual degree is better as IT companies only prefer CSE graduates. But nowadays this notion has changed as with big data and analytics creating a boom, more and more such companies visiting campuses and hiring people from all branches.
Therefore it is suggested that you go for BITS Hyderabad, where you will grow and learn in a much more competitive environment. Your vision will be broadened.
Which will be a better option, IIIT Bhopal or IIIT Ranchi for CSE? How are the hostel and other facilities at IIIT Bhopal?
I know some of the people from both institutes. Based on what I heard from them, IIIT Bhopal is better than IIIT Ranchi.
A few of the reasons to choose IIIT Bhopal are as follows.
- Mentor Institute: IIIT Bhopal is mentored by NIT Bhopal and classes are held inside the campus of NIT Bhopal itself. So you will have access to all the experienced faculty and facilities you would have got if you were in NIT. Being in NIT, you can participate in all the national-level competitions.
- Location: The location of IIIT Bhopal is great. It is located in the peaceful city of Bhopal. It has less traffic and the college is close to both the airport and railway station.
- Hostel: Hostels for the first are at RGPV University, which is the head university of all the engineering colleges in the state. It has a huge campus with modern facilities. Buses are provided from hostel to college and that too free of cost.
- Food: The quality of food at the canteen is not so good.
- Academics: Academics facilities are great and you have to work hard to stay in sync with the syllabus. The course-work will be quite hectic in the first year and you would be given 30,50 or sometimes even 100 questions as an assignment. You will learn C-Programming, HTML, CSS, latex, etc.

Which is better NIT Jamshedpur CSE or IIIT Allahabad ECE?
If you are concerned about the brand then definitely go for IIIT Allahabad. But, if you are clear with your choice of stream you can choose either of them. If you choose NIT Jamshedpur CSE it’s good and so is the same with IIIT Allahabad.
I can share one of my cousin’s experiences, who passed out from NIT Jamshedpur.
- When he cracked the JEE with decent marks and got a chance to opt between these two colleges; he chose NIT Jamshedpur CSE over IIIT Allahabad comparing few factors like placements, exposure and money plays a vital role here.
- It is all up to you whether you want a tough competitive exposure or a light and cooperative environment.

Also, if you see around there is infinite demand for highly skilled electronics engineers with impressive TopCOder and GitHub profiles. So, choosing either of the colleges won’t be a loss. But, if you have a specific interest in a particular stream like ECE in IIIT Allahabad or NIT Jamshedpur will prove a good choice too.
Among Reva University and New Horizon College of Engineering which is the best for CSE?
