How good is iit gandhinagar?

Sabeer Chalana Posted On : July 27th, 2023

Honestly speaking, IIT Gandhinagar does not deserve to be in the IIT family nor does it deserve the IIT tag. I am not saying the education and placement opportunities here are pathetic but they are still far from actual IIT standards. or even top NITs and BITS.

It’s due to the Marketing tactics of the director that the institute gains such high rankings by NIRF and other ranking bodies. The internships and placement scenario is pathetic owing to the deteriorating student strength and efforts on the part of the university.

I will suggest everyone against joining this institute and ruining their career.

Autonomus colleges under VTU are better. These colleges shave the autonomy to frame their syllabus, academic calender, curriculum, and evaluation methods. In comparison to VTU, you can score better. The overall learning experience is better.

RVCE, MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, and BMS College of Engineering are among the most reputed autonomous colleges under VTU.

Which exam is much tougher IBPS PO or IBPS SO?

MD
Meghna Deb Posted On : January 16th, 2021
MBA in Finance, Indian School of Business (2019)

The answer to this question is which exam is much tougher IBPS PO or IBPS SO, vary from candidate to candidate and even there are factors like competition, specialization and knowledge which decides the success in both exams. Any graduate candidate can apply for IBPS PO, but for IBPS SO a candidate needs to have specialization in particular fields for which they are applying.

There are a huge number of applications received every year for IBPS PO and generally a candidate is placed in fields like Planning, Credit, Operations,Administration etc after clearing IBPS Po. Whereas IBPS SO candidates after clearing the exams posted in specific fields like IT officer for IT Department, Agriculture Officer for Rural Department and vice versa.

The reason behind higher competition in IBPS PO is due to these reasons -

  • In order to get the post of SO a candidate compulsorily need to have a specific Educational degree in fields like IT, MBA or Agriculture etc. due to specific requirements of this particular job. But for PO only graduation is required which simply increases competition in PO and attracts more candidates to apply for the same.
  • There are a limited number of seats for SO which is upto higher levels only. While for IBPS PO the opportunities are infinite in different sectors which includes banking as well. That’s why candidates prefer to clear IBPS PO and explore the endless career opportunities.

So both IBPS SO and IBPS PO are exams of the same level, the only difference is the candidate's interest in it. Full dedication, hard work, right guidance and better preparation can help candidates clear both the exams with ease be it IBPS PO or IBPS SO.

There are a lot of things that make IIT Gandhinagar such a great institute. The academic structure here is quite flexible and there are a number of elective options to choose from as well. Here are some more points that will help you gain some clarity about the institute.

Minors/Honors/ Dual Major:

  • You can choose any discipline as your minor. There are options like Management, Cognitive Science. If you complete 20 credits in this, you will be eligible for a minor and in some cases, honors as well.
  • Another improvement that the college introduced is the dual degree where you can complete your B. Tech with 2 disciplines. Additionally, it won’t just focus on engineering subjects. You will be able to learn subjects like basic sciences, humanities, and design, too.
  • A lot of focus is given to project-oriented learning. Mandatory projects are a part of every semester. You also have the choice of taking a project course under any discipline.
  • There are a variety of short courses like computer networks, financial considerations, etc. as well as a 5-week foundation program that helps you explore your likings.

Faculty:

  • The faculty is motivating and helps students achieve their goals.
  • You will also have a number of highly distinguished guest speakers and visiting professors coming from abroad and from the country. They hold a number of talks, lectures, and workshops that will give you exposure to your field of interest.

Location and Student life:

  • Gandhinagar has collaborations with IIT Gn. These include ISRO, IIM A, NID, etc.
  • The campus is also quite lively with numerous fests, competitions as well as events taking place that will help you in personality development.
  • Students are quite responsible here. The college focuses on providing good values and ethics. The faculty is also quite supportive of student activities.
  • There is a good understanding between the juniors and seniors. You will have the opportunity to join many clubs, do new activities as well as get guidance from the college.

Many professors have zero attendance policy as well as invigilator-free tests. Overall, you can expect some of the best years of your life to take place here.

How are the professors at IISC Bangalore? Do they judge you when you ask them questions? Do they cut your marks in internals if you ask them tough questions?

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : July 12th, 2023

The professors here are really approachable and friendly. Let me narrate a few incidents that will convince you

  • A professor I know sets very tricky questions and on one such exam when the students were busy attempting the challenging paper, he along with some assistants started serving refreshments to the students. Later on, I found out that the assistant was a GOLD medallist from EPFL yet his humbleness overtook his knowledge.
  • You will be attending the seminars along with your professors who are always eager to learn new things. Despite being degree holders and having huge qualifications their humble attitude towards learning instills a sense of positivity in the students.
  • What amazes me the most were instances when some professors failed to answer certain questions in the class, and then they got back to you through emails with a properly researched answer. In fact, some professors even stayed throughout the night with their students in labs figuring out answers.
  • Their dedication level is extremely high as sometimes professors attend seminars even when it’s raining and they are drenched in the way.
  • The professors value every second and once I saw a professor eat a dry bun and a fruity just to save time.

Trust me, being a part of the IISc family will be the most enlightening experience you will ever have.

What are some tips for scoring high marks in VTU?

DM
Deeksha Mukharjee Posted On : April 25th, 2022
studied at Visvesvaraya Technological University

The trick for scoring well in VTU is simple. You should choose 5 units and go through them thoroughly. Don’t skip any topics from these units. You can keep the last unit optional. Solve the previous 5 years' questions. However, don’t rely on these papers alone.

Take all three internals and don’t take the third internal lightly. It will prepare you for the external. Try to score well in practicals. In the examination, present your answer in an effective way.

How good is the NTTF for a post graduation degree?

AS
Ankit Saha Posted On : October 25th, 2021
studied Tool and Die Making at Nettur Technical Training Foundation (2019)

One of my friends completed his PG in Tool Design a few years back. His experience at the institute was pretty good.

  • There are 1-2 year-long courses that you can choose from. If you are considering joining NTTF, make sure you have good knowledge about the basics of Mechanical Engineering.
  • The faculty base of the institute is great. Most of the professors are retired employees/managers from reputed companies.
  • NTTF has a decent placement record. In the recent placement drive, the highest and average CTC offered was 5 LPA and 1.5 LPA respectively.

If you are a Mechanical Engineer then NTTF is the perfect place for you to explore and learn.
