NSIT/DTU is far better than NIT Hamirpur for CSE.
Be it academics, placement, research culture, peer group, exposure, etc. NSIT/DTU will offer better opportunities. These two institutes also have a locational advantage. Due to the favorable location, you can easily get good exposure in the CSE domain. NSIT and DTU both will offer you plenty of opportunities. However, many students prefer NSIT for their small student intake.
In terms of brand recognition and exposure, NSUT IT is better than PEC Chandigarh. Delhi offers way better exposure, due to the presence of the industry belt in the area. There are many reputed technological institutes in Delhi such as IIITD, so the learning opportunities are ample.
CSE and IT aren’t too different. The major difference between the two branches is hardware and 90% of students are more invested in software roles. If you aren’t particularly interested in the hardware section of Computer Science, choosing NSUT will be better. NSUT placements are great for IT. Students of the branch get salary packages in the range of INR 4 - 20 LPA.
MAIT and NSUT are two of the top private engineering colleges in India. MAIT is ranked 41st by India Today, and NSUT is ranked 76th in India by the NIRF in 2020. Both MAIT and NSUT offer BTech programs for IT.
The total seats in the IT branch at MAIT are 180 with a total tuition fee of Rs 4.69 lakhs. The total seats in the ECE branch at NSUT are 180, with a total tuition fee of Rs 7.81 lakhs.
Admission:
Admission in both the colleges is based on the scores obtained in the JEE Main examination, with 55% and 60% in the 10+2 examination for MAIT and NSUT, respectively.
Candidates need to go through the GGSIPU counseling for securing a seat in MAIT, and JAC Delhi counseling for NSUT.
The cut-off ranks for the colleges are given below.
MAIT |
General- 42615(Delhi), 27611(Outside Delhi) |
NSUT |
General- 8317 |
Placements:
MAIT- At MAIT, the IT branch has one of the highest placement records.
The highest salary package offered is around 28 LPA, and the lowest is around 3.3 LPA, and the average is around 5 LPA.
More than 40 companies come for placements in the IT branch.
Some of the companies that come for recruitment are Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Nagar, Accenture, and IBM.
NSUT- It has some of the top companies in India visiting for placements, including international companies.
The placement record of the ECE branch is pretty decent, around 90%.
The maximum package offered is 22 LPA; the minimum package offered is 3 LPA.
Companies like D. E Shaw, Amazon, Microsoft, and Sprinklr come to the campus for recruitment.
Infrastructure:
MAIT- The campus of MAIT is relatively small but has all the necessary facilities required by students. Facilities include Wi-Fi, smart classrooms, libraries, and sports facilities.
NSUT-
It has a massive air-conditioned library of three floors containing books written by national and international authors.
Classrooms are spacious, and the entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled.
NSUT also has excellent sports facilities with badminton, basketball, and tennis courts, and also grounds for football, cricket, and running tracks.
In terms of academics, both the colleges have a dedicated group of faculties who support and guide their students. The student to faculty ratio at MAIT is around 70:1, and at NSUT it is almost the same. The faculties at NSUT are highly qualified but extremely strict, and the course curriculum is updated. As for which institute will be better for you, you should be the one to decide that.
If you are trying to compare two colleges, such as NSIT and DTU, it is recommended to choose the one that is closer to your place. This will make it easier for you to commute, save time, and avoid any unnecessary expenses related to travel and accommodation.
However, when it comes to comparing NSUT (NSIT) and MNNIT Allahabad, NSUT (NSIT) does have an advantage. NSUT (NSIT) is considered one of the top engineering colleges in India, known for its excellent infrastructure, faculty, and research facilities. It offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering, science, and technology.
On the other hand, MNNIT Allahabad is also a reputed engineering college but is located in a smaller city as compared to NSUT (NSIT). The city may not offer the same exposure and opportunities that Delhi can provide, especially in terms of internships, industrial visits, and campus placements.
Therefore, if you have the option to choose between NSUT (NSIT) and MNNIT Allahabad, it may be advisable to opt for NSUT (NSIT) if you are looking for a top-tier engineering college in a metropolitan city. However, this decision ultimately depends on your individual preferences and priorities, and you should weigh all the factors before making a final decision.
Lateral entry is not applicable for government engineering colleges that follow the JAC Delhi admission process. So NSUT does not allow lateral entry for any of the B.Tech branches, including Civil.
On the other hand, PTU has the provision of lateral entry into Civil Engineering. But the requirement for the same is a polytechnic diploma in Civil.
It isn’t certain that you’ll get NSUT or DTU next year.
Also, if you plan to join some degree program during this year drop, preparing for your entrance will become even more hectic with your college studies. Dropping a year can take a toll on your mental health as well. Moreover, It will be much more disheartening if you are unable to get into DTU or NSUT even after a drop year.
I would personally recommend you join Jamia Hamdard University for your CS.
Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology has been positioned under the rank band of 151-200 among the top 906 engineering institutions across the country which also includes all IITs/IIITs/NITs. Hence, CSE at MAIT is a good option.
As per Times Engineering Survey and NIRF, Delhi Technological University (DTU) is ranked 2nd and 34th among the Best Technological Universities in India.
Ranked 5 in State Fund University by ARIIA 2020 and 11 in India's Top 150 Engineering Colleges in 2019 by Outlook, NSUT offers a wide range of courses and is accredited by ‘NAAC A’.

Placements:
DTU:
Delhi Technological University has an unmatched placement record as one of the top engineering colleges in the country. It is ranked no. 1 by Outlook India in a placement category.
The highest CTC offered by domestic companies and international companies is 39.2 LPA and 52.22 LPA respectively.
The average CTC received by the students at the institute in 2020 placement was 6.5 LPA.
NSUT:
Looking at the records of the NSUT placement, the salary package offered is from INR 4 LPA to INR 1.25 Cr. from BE courses including MPAE.
The students are placed in different multinational companies, government and the private sector, etc.
A total of 172 recruitment firms visited the college. Deloitte, 91 mobiles, Amazon India, Accenture, Bharti Airtel, KPMG, Reliance Jio, Samsung, Maruti Suzuki, and so on are just a few of the companies providing student placements.
MAIT Delhi:
It offers its students decent placement and internship opportunities by interacting with different reputable companies.
The applicants from CSE get placements into companies such as Accenture, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, Amazon, etc.
42 firms visited the campus in 2019 offering packages from INR 3.5 LPA to INR 28 LPA.
All of the above courses offered by different institutes stand high in one or the other areas, so it’s up to applicant choice to which course and college to take admission in.
All the aforementioned institutes, DTU, BITS, NSIT, and IIIT Delhi are excellent colleges that are well-recognized in the tech sector. As a whole the curriculum and placement opportunities for CS offered by these colleges are quite similar. The average package varies slightly but the individual differences compensate for that. Here is a comparative analysis of the placement statistics of these colleges

However, if you look from the angle of research , IIIT Delhi certainly is way ahead than the other colleges. Its research-oriented institute is primarily established to conduct cutting-edge research in the field of CS. While BITS Pilani also has a decent research culture, DTU, and NSUT are nowhere near IIIT Delhi in terms of research. IIIT Delhi students have a lot of projects to work on under highly learned and passionate faculties. The exposure these students receive is unmatched and they are offered excellent opportunities in terms of both in industry and for higher education.
So if you want both excellent placements and research opportunities go for IIIT Delhi but if you want a good campus life too that is less focused on research go for BITS Pilani.
My cousin graduated from DTU in CS. According to him, these institutions can be ranked for CS in the following order-
DTU is considered one of the best Indian institutions for CS. Therefore, you should go for DTU if you get the opportunity. Every technical society at DTU, be it IEEE, ASME, CSI, IET, or even the small ones, gives great value to coding competitions. Thus, coding classes and competitions are held on a regular basis.
For those who want to work on real-use-productive coding instead of passive-competitive coding, there are many opportunities at DTU. DTU has several societies, and there are student entrepreneurs who are always in dire need of talented coders.
DTU also has a locational advantage. Being situated in the capital of India, it offers students great opportunities and exposure, not just industrial but of all types. Gurgaon is the IT hub and since you will spend 4 years of student life in Delhi, if you land a job in Gurgaon after graduating, you will have been accustomed to the region by that time.
The seniors at DTU are helpful and there is a strict anti-ragging policy on campus. The faculty consists of learned and helpful professors. The non-tech placements are also quite good at DTU.
DTU has huge brand value, long-standing history, and it is the mother of a lot of great colleges.
NIT Calicut is a good choice as well because it has a good placement record and an impressive infrastructure. In terms of location, however, DTU, NSUT, and IIIT Delhi are at an advantage.
You can consider all the above factors and finally decide which of these institutions is the right choice for you to pursue your CS.
Choosing one between IT at MNNIT Allahabad and ICE at NSIT depends on a number of factors. As a whole, the IT branch is better than ICE in terms of job opportunities. But the better choice for you depends on your individual circumstance. Here are a few scenarios and the most preferable choice to be made in those scenarios
Ultimately, the final choice will depend on the factors you prioritize.
