Which is better to opt, aerospace engineering in IIT Madras or CSE in NIT Trichy?

AG
Aditi Goswami Posted On : March 30th, 2023
studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (2018)

Anyone who has the option of choosing IIT Madras must without further thinking grab the opportunity.

  • IIT Madras is Ranked the No.1 Engineering college for the past few subsequent years.
  • Joining IIT Madras will let you change your branch based on your CGPA
  • IIT Madras has excellent culture and peer groups and fairs much better than NIT Trichy in this aspect.
  • The level of competition at IIT Madras is higher and thus you will grow continuously unlike NIT where you will already be among the toppers
  • The plethora of opportunities and exposure at IIT Madras is incomparable to that at NIT Trichy.

My friend was a graduate student of Automotive Engineering (Engineering Design) from IIT Madras but ended up with a career in Data Science and Algorithmic Trading. Thus every engineer irrespective of his branch should be proficient in at least one programming language.

Choose your college wisely as it’s responsible for shaping and steering your career.

Is life at NMIMS Mumbai boring and hectic for a BTech student?

SK
Sumedh Kashyap Posted On : March 14th, 2023
BTech. in Civil Engineering, NMIMS (Graduated 2019)

If you are a B.Tech student at MPSTME, your day may vary from being too boring to too exciting depending on how you choose to spend it. If you have lectures from 9 am to 4 pm, your day could go like this:

9 am-11 am:

You may experience some delays when getting to the college gate due to traffic, local train travel, and fights for rickshaws. Once you arrive, you will need your id card to enter the premises, and it needs to be scanned on a biometric machine, which sometimes takes a few tries. The reception lobby has two lifts, one for odd floors and one for even floors, with long lines. The lift staff and canteen staff have priority in using the lifts. If you're running late, consider using the stairs to get to your classroom, but this can be exhausting if your classroom is on a higher floor.

When you reach your classroom, you may find that the door is locked or that the faculty won't let you enter because you're late. You may feel frustrated, but keep in mind that you're not alone as your classmates may have also been kicked out. This could be an opportunity to head to Prithvi Cafe, the nearest cafe, and hang out with friends.

11 am-1 pm:

If you manage to get into your next lecture, you may have to take a seat at the front if all other seats are taken. If you're interested in the subject and the faculty, you will pay full attention; otherwise, you may try to pass the time. You can't use your mobile while sitting at the front. After the lecture, you may check your mobile and find out that the 3-4 pm lecture is canceled, but you need to complete an assignment during the break in the 2-3 pm lecture. You'll need to plan your time accordingly and find a seat in the back.

During the next lecture, you may need to complete the assignment, which could be challenging since the websites that could help you might be blocked. However, you can still use Wikipedia and copy information to complete your assignment. After finishing your work, you may feel accomplished.

1 pm-2 pm:

It's break time, and you'll want to head to the canteen to catch a seat. The MPSTME canteen is one of the best canteens among the SVKM's colleges. Here, you can order food, share it, make fun of your friends, and meet friends from other streams, which can help you take a break from lectures and assignments.

2 pm-3 pm:

When you get back to the class, you may sit at the back and witness your classmates submit their assignments or make excuses for not completing them. Whether you choose to pay attention in the lecture is entirely up to you, but the faculty will try to make the lecture interesting. It's the most important part of the day, so try to stay focused.

Overall, it's essential to manage your time well and stay disciplined to make the most of your day.

What changes should be brought into IITs and NITs to transform them into better institutions? Should they learn from IIIT Hyderabad?

BS

My brother is an alumnus of IIIT Hyderabad and even today he says that no doubt IIIT Hyderabad has excellent placements but that does not mean it can be compared to institutes of national importance like IITs and NITs that have been there for ages. Anyone making such a comparison isn’t aware of the brand value IITs have both within and outside India. Placements are not a direct reflection of the quality of education.

The truth is IIIT Hyderabad is a blossoming institute and is nowhere comparable to the top IITs and NITs at least as of now.

Executive Certificate Programme in Digital Marketing from IIM KASHIPUR Talentedge. Is it worth taking this online course?

VG

Certified Digital Marketer

Only you can provide a better answer than anyone else. When a program or course is held, the goal is usually to provide information and knowledge about the subject. If you are interested in Digital Marketing and want to learn more about it, you can enroll in Executive Certificate Programme in Digital Marketing from IIM KASHIPUR Talentedge.

However, you are aware that everything is available on YouTube and Google. So you can learn from social media platforms as well. Essentially, what happens in these courses is either some practical or guidance by mentors or instructors, which is fine, but it should be tailored to your needs and budget. If you believe it will be too expensive, you can switch to YouTube Digital Marketing Videos or online lessons.

What is the best place in NIT Rourkela?

SB
Sriparna Banerjee Posted On : August 17th, 2023
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Rourkela

Your favorite spot at NIT Rourkela will depend upon your interests and personality-

  1. People who are into sports love to spend their time in DTS or STS. They love and cherish the floodlight lit moments over there. Gym people love to spend their time in the gym.
  2. Then there are people who devote all their energy and time into the various clubs at NIT R. Some of these clubs are- MM, Cyborg, FSAE, SAE, Aasra, Synergy, Mavericks, etc.
  3. The ‘politicians’ of NIT R can always be found in the SAC. These people derive happiness from organizing the NIT R fests and various other events on campus.
  4. Backpost is the favorite spot of every guy at NIT Rourkela. The food and the lonely walks on the long desolate Backpost road are the best. You can enjoy Manchurian, samosa chaat, and aloo paratha at this spot.
  5. Couples like to spend their time together in front of CVR/KMS, in the dark lanes of faculty quarters, at the swimming pool after gym hours, on the dark stairs of DTS, or on the rooftop of the BMBT/ Chemical building. I won’t include MN International, because it is outside the NIT Rourkela campus.

Whichever spot you choose among these, the time that you spend with your friends at NIT Rourkela will be the most memorable and these are going to be the best years of your life.

Should I apply for VTU revaluation?

AP
Ansh Patel, Posted On : November 2nd, 2021
studied at Visvesvaraya Technological University (2016)

One of my friends applied for revaluation in 7 semesters for more than 20 subjects. His scores also increased. The only thing to keep in mind is to apply for it if you are confident that your answers are not checked properly and deserve better marks.

Consider these points before applying:

  • Go ahead with it only if it feels extremely necessary.
  • Mainly review the questions you have answered and left, Check the answers again.
  • See the scoring pattern of your classmates selectively.
  • Check the University analysis on the subject in ‘fast VTU results’.
  • Your presentation of answers on that day.
  • Discuss it with your faculty.
  • Judge the gap in mindset between you and the 1st evaluator (If you are familiar with it).

Make a wise decision. Do not fall for rumors, apply only if you are confident about it.

Should I opt for CSE at IIIT Bangalore or EE at IIT Madras, Delhi, Kanpur, KGP, or Roorkee?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : October 9th, 2023

The number and standard of companies visiting IIT Bangalore is as good as the top IITs. With an amazing research culture and a strong alumni network too, its reputation is almost at par with top engineering colleges in India. However, IIIT Bangalore students lack the choice for higher studies. Moreover, there are exclusive interviews from companies like JPMorgan Chase.

Both have their unique strengths and weaknesses. The IIIT curriculum is very challenging while if you join IIT, you would have to manage 2 subjects at the same time.

I will suggest you go for IITs inky if you have no interest in CSE and want to pursue higher studies. But if you are interested in research work, IIIT Bangalore is the best option for you. As for the IITs, you can refer to the following preference order if you have no specific preference over location

Delhi> Madras> Kanpur>KGP> Roorkee

Hope this helps you!

How is the overall percentage calculated in IGNOU BSc in zoology?

SS
Sophia Singh Posted On : November 2nd, 2022
B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (2020)

IGNOU BSc has 2 types of subjects - Theory and Practical. It’s further divided into - Assignments and Term end theory exams.

In order to calculate total marks in a paper out of 100 - Assignment marks* 0.3 + Theory marks*0.7. The calculated sum will be your overall marks out of 100.

To know the actual marks that will be on your marks sheet follow this rule:

For theory-

  • If it is a 4 credits course divide the marks by 2.

  • If it is a six-credit course, divide it by 4/3.

  • If it is a 2 credit course divide it by 4

  • This is because 8,6,4,2 credit courses have total marks out of 100, 75, 50 & 25 respectively.

For practical-

It has two parts - Lab 1 and Lab 2

Total marks out of 100 = Lab 1 mark*0.7 + Lab 2 marks*0.3. To calculate total marks follow the same rule mentioned above. Total credits in BSc-96

Therefore total marks will be 96/8=12 hundred.=1200

Net percentage will be = Total marks out of 1200 /Twelve hundred multiplied by 100 .
