What are the best student organizations or clubs to join at NIT Raipur? Why should students join them?

VR
Vivek Rathore Posted On : April 23rd, 2021
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Raipur (2016)

Assuming you don’t have any preferences currently in joining any of the clubs at the college, let me help you out by being as lucid as possible. If you are primarily looking for fields like singing, dancing, or literature, clubs like Raaga, Nrityam, and Literati will be your default choices. Also, always keep in mind that the club management certificates you get in your senior years will always be useful in the future.

Now, here are some parameters you can consider before planning on joining any of the clubs at NIT Raipur:

  • Learning/Passion: You should figure out what plan to gain from joining a particular club, how it will help you achieve your future goals. Additionally, do you feel good after joining the club? It should be able to help you gain confidence, build your abilities, hone them and also bring them out. If you are looking to be a journalist in the future, PMRC will be good for you. If you are looking at sports, you can go to Shaurya.
  • Diversity: Make sure that the club you join is not biased towards a single department. This happened with the Innovation cell that includes mainly students from biomedical sciences who do not contribute at all to the point of the club. Some other clubs are dominated by CS/IT/EC/MME students which will not help your cause at all. Make sure that there is diversity in the club you join.
  • Time Value: A few clubs like Technocracy, Samskruti, and E-Cell mainly focus on labor during fests. If you are a first-year student, they will exploit your eagerness to do things. While working during the fest is Technocracy and Samskruti’s job, E-cell was more about entrepreneurship. In other words, don’t work for a club till your interest are satisfied because some clubs will make you volunteer for them and won’t let you join till your second year.

In my opinion, some of the best clubs are NCC, NSS, PMRC, and Raaga. I-Cell, E-Cell, and Nrityam are not that great.

Why should one choose VMMC over MAMC?

SS
Shwetha S Posted On : April 1st, 2024

VMMC offers 170 seats for the MBBS program whereas MAMC offers a total of 250 seats. While both VMMC and MAMC are very renowned colleges, the first year at VMMC is still quite stress-free whereas MAMC adheres to a strict curriculum.

VMMC offers a top-notch infrastructure with modern equipment and supportive staff. It has one of the largest government hospital complexes in India along with Asia’s largest OPD. On the other hand, MAMC also offers decent infrastructure and facilities on campus for students’ overall well-being.

The primary reason for aspirants to choose VMMC is the Internal PG reservation. Since VMMC is affiliated with IP University, UG students (MBBS) are eligible for an internal PG Quota and can secure MD/MS seats at VMMC.

It is advisable to choose VMMC to avail the benefits of reservation for PG courses. Although, MAMC doesn’t provide any reservations for PG courses. Students graduating from MAMC are equipped with a strong academic foundation and can be highly competitive.

What type of questions are asked in the interview for admission to AFMC Pune?

TD
Tezal Dahiya Posted On : September 22nd, 2023

Firstly you need to be sure of your decision to join AFMC Pune because you can never perform well if you are in a dilemma. You need to portray your genuine self during the interview, that is the key to getting selected. Your interview shouldn’t seem forced.

  • When you come for the interview, you will go through certificate deposition, wherein a file about you is initiated. You will score extra marks for the certificates you already have.
  • This will be followed by ToELR, a Test of English Language and Reasoning. It’s an 80-mark test consisting of 40 marks for English and 40 for Mathematics and logical abilities.
  • For English, all you need is basic knowledge of the language. For this, you can just take some short online English tests consisting of comprehension synonyms and antonyms.
  • For Mathematics, you need to be the origin of your concepts and also have a strong presence of mind.
  • The psychological test will evaluate your real self and I don’t think there is any right way to prepare for this.
  • This is followed by a preliminary interview with the Brigadier(Adm). During this round, your file is updated for the final round.
  • Lastly, the most crucial round is the panel interview. This interview is conducted by a panel of psychologists, the Dean, and several other intelligent and prestigious members of AMC. They will evaluate your basic knowledge about your area, your interests, and your hobbies.

The key to ace these institutes is to stay confident and genuine!

What are the pros and cons of studying in IIT Bombay?

SB
Sumit Bose Posted On : March 20th, 2023
IIT Bombay (2019)

IIT Bombay is the dream college of many Engineering aspirants. Some major pros and cons of IIT Bombay are mentioned below:

Pros

  • IIT Bombay is the elite Engineering college in India with almost 75% of 100 rankers targeting this institute.
  • IIT Bombay offers a variety of courses in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry
  • It provides holistic development of students.
  • The MNCs that visit during placements offer high packages that are quite appealing.
  • Some of the top branches include CSE, Chemical, Civil and Mechanical. The faculty of all these branches are extremely learned. CSE students are busy with projects and usually get recruited by top IT companies while chemical engineering promotes research.

Cons

  • IIT Bombay is not a university providing courses in other fields such as arts, dance, painting, or the law.
  • Most of the courses focus on application only. For instance, even math is not pure but applied
  • The quality of education is gradually deteriorating over the past few years despite all efforts to save it from the fall
  • Most top students prefer to go for jobs rather than become researchers

The cons are not major enough to overshadow the pros yet and the Institute is expected to remain among the top for a few more years.

How was your IIT Kharagpur PGDBA interview experience?

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : March 30th, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

One of my friends had the absolute delight to appear for the PGDBA interview conducted by a multifaceted panel. He shared his interview experience which might help you a bit.

Before the interview began, he was taken for a Verification Round wherein, every detail of academics scores or other profile-related information was cross-checked on the IIMs format. Once they received an IIM-verified document they were escorted to the interview venue.

The interview room had 3 panels; one from each institute obviously.

They asked for his brief introduction first. On hearing about his interest in Data Analytics, panelists probed him further with questions like

  • What is Data Analytics
  • Difference between analytics and analysis
  • Contemporary Data analytics and ML

They further asked him why he chose Analytics. He told them that the increasing demand for the same in Europe and China made him realize how much India lacks in this aspect and thus he wanted to invest his efforts in Data Analytics.

Next, he was tested on his knowledge of Statistics and Mathematics with questions like

  • Difference between mean, mode, Media
  • Skewness
  • Relationship of mean, mode, and median in a positive Skew graph
  • Hypothesis Testing
  • What is Anova

The next panelist took the reins and gave him a problem from SPC quality control. He asked him how do you know that his process in electric bulb making is as per customer Norma and is statistically controlled. My friend was able to answer most of the questions confidently and even solved this problem through charts.

Lastly, he was asked about his extracurricular activities and hobbies. The discussion ended with him asking about GST and the difference between GST and previous tax. Even though he gave a common answer, he managed to convert the interview.

Why isn’t the NSIT famous?

SM
Senjuti Mitra Posted On : August 22nd, 2023
Studied at Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (Graduated 2022)

Well, I don’t believe that NSUT is not famous. In fact, it’s well-known globally. One of my friends who is an ex-student of NSUT went to Harvard MUN and most of the students there knew about NSUT. This in itself speaks of the college's reputation and brand value.

You will be surprised to know that NSUT is the only college from India to get an invitation to send a delegation to the prestigious Harvard MUN.

The reason it isn’t as famous as DTU is because it has almost half the intake of DTU. So it has fewer alumni spread across the globe that would promote the institute.

So it’s just a misconception that NSUT is not famous!

Do you regret joining IIT Bombay?

SA
Subhashree Adhikari Posted On : March 18th, 2023
B.Tech from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) (2019)

I know a friend who is currently in her second semester and she shared a few pieces of information regarding the scenario there.

As everyone says, joining IIT Bombay was indeed a very fun-filled experience and it satisfies all your cravings for a rich college life experience.

However, after a few days, she became aware of some harsh realities. Due to the relaxed ambiance, she stopped focusing on academics and was not among the toppers anymore. This affected her confidence a lot. She started feeling inferior to her peers and considered herself just an average student. She started anticipating if her decision to join IIT Bombay was even worth it. Eventually, she realized that she was mistaken and the truth was way different. She realized a few things she wasn’t able to ascertain before

  • She was able to learn such things she could not have learned anywhere else
  • She had learned to work more than her capabilities and push her limit by studying with many geniuses
  • She got to know her worth when compared to people in the same field
  • Life at IIT Bombay made her all the more humble and mature, ready to face life challenges strongly.

She eventually did not regret joining IIT Bombay even a bit. She gave it the credit for grooming her overall personality.

A
Admin Posted On : February 15th, 2024

Yes, your money will be refunded even after you attended the counseling and took a seat at KIIT. They will cut some amount in the name of normal procedure/registration fee, and refund the rest to you. You’ll receive back at least 50k-55k.

For someone who did not attend the counseling, their rank in the entrance is of no use.

Both IIT Madras and IIT Bombay are well-recognized academic institutions in India and are ranked amongst the top Engineering institutions as well. • The median package of IIT Madras is INR 19.60 LPA and the average package is INR 22 LPA.
