Yes, pursuing a B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar can be a worthwhile investment in your career and future. Here are some reasons why:
Overall, pursuing a B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar can provide you with a solid foundation in the field and prepare you for a successful career. With its reputation, curriculum, faculty, research opportunities, and career prospects, an IIT degree can be a worthwhile investment in your future.
I think doing a BTech in Civil Engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar is a better choice than opting for a BE in CSE at BITS Hyderabad. No doubt BITS Hyderabad is a great academic institution but IIT Bhubaneswar is known for offering exceptional academic standards and research opportunities to the students.
IIT Bhubaneswar ranks 17th in the engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is one of the newer IITs established in 2008. It has fully well-equipped kitchens, hostels, Sports grounds, entertainment rooms, etc. The hostels have internet, water coolers, ACs, etc. The Core engineering in IIT Bhubaneswar is good.
In the year 2019, the department witnessed 89% placement with an average salary package of 11 lakhs per annum, the highest being 39 lakhs per annum. Civil Engineering specializations include structural mechanics, structural analysis, structural dynamics, concrete technology, soil-structure interaction, earthquake engineering, and seismic design of structures.
Students graduating from this department can apply for jobs like Engineering Project Managers and Senior Civil Engineers. Other Civil Engineering jobs are CAD Technicians, Consulting Civil Engineers, Design Engineer, Site Engineer, Estimator, etc. their salary ranges from 5-8 lakhs per annum.
Both IIT Dhanbad and IIt Bhubaneswar are well-known IITs in India. Popular for its excellent and well-structured academic courses and research facilities. However, if you take my opinion then opting for IIT Bhubaneswar is a better option than IIT Dhanbad.
For Civil Engineering, IIT Ropar is comparably better than IIT Bhubaneswar. It offers better academics. The faculties of the Civil Engineering department have years of experience in teaching. Most of them are alumni of reputed universities around the world. IIT Ropar follows a curriculum of international standards, which is designed by the industry experts.
IIT Ropar placements reveal the average package for Civil Engineering to be INR 12 LPA.
IIT Bhubaneswar is a second generation IIT but despite that fact, it’s doing quite well in terms of placement. According to NIRF Rankings 2020, the institute ranks at 22 among the engineering colleges in India.
The placement statistics of 2019 suggest 89% of students from the civil engineering department got placed. Even though it’s the popular belief that there is not much scope for civil engineering in India and most students prepare for non-core placement from the very first year of their engineering degree. In IIT Bhubaneswar this is not the case, as 70% of the students from the civil engineering department get core placemats. The average salary package offered during placement is 10 LPA. The highest salary package offered went up to 39 LPA in 2019.
Some of the top companies like Amazon, Adobe, Accenture, Gupta Solution, Flinto Solution, Honeywell, ISRO, IOCL, Jindal Stainless Ltd, KEC International, KIIT, L&T construction, L&T Ltd, Microsoft, MathWorks, Mastercard, PNB Metlife, TATA steel, TATA Advance System, Thermax, TESCO recruited students from IIT Bhubaneswar last year.
Of course, if you are interested in pursuing Civil Engineering, then you should consider IIT Bhilai.
