Companies like Tata Motors, Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil, Deloitte, etc. Companies participating in IIT Indore offer its civil engineering students an average salary package of 16 lakhs per annum. In 2018, the salary package in IIT Indore rose to 18 lakhs per annum and the highest being 43 lakhs per annum.

IIT Bhubaneswar ranks 17th in the engineering category by NIRF 2019. It is one of the newer IITs established in 2008. The institute collaborates with foreign universities such as University of Warwick, University of Southampton, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, University of Western Ontario, University of New York, University of North Dakota USA, and McGill University. Placements in IIT Bhubaneswar is 89% in Civil Engineering. IIT Bhubaneswar students were offered 11 lakhs per annum and the highest being 39 lakhs per annum. The top recruiters include WIPRO, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Samsung, Microsoft, Deloitte, Amazon, Adobe, TATA Steel, TATA Advanced Systems, Thermax, TETCOS, L&T Construction, L&T Ltd.,

IIT Bhubaneswar ranks 17th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2019 Rankings. Civil Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar will be a good choice because it is one of the core engineerings. The institute has a placement percentage of 85% in the field of Civil Engineering. Students in these core engineering programs have received an average annual salary package of 15.8 lakhs per annum. The highest being 43.3 lakhs per annum. Companies like Tata Motors, TATA Steel, TATA Advanced Systems, L&T Pvt. Ltd., L&T Construction, etc have visited the campus for placement drive.

IIT Delhi ranks 2nd in the Engineering category by NIRF 2019 Rankings. Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology in IIT Delhi has a significant role that was played by biochemical engineers and biotechnologists in future industrial development of biotechnology-related processes. Today, the Department provides a structure for an integrated approach towards education, research, and development of various bioprocesses. For MTech, the students must have a BTech in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering.

Biotechnology from IIT is a good option but there is not much scope in India but has more abroad. A student requires a good CGPA and maintains a good CV to land up a good consultancy job or admission at top MBA colleges. It is a five-year course and requires 1 extra year to complete BTech, unlike other Engineering programs. Placements are better abroad than in India and you can receive an average annual salary package of 7 lakhs per annum. The highest salary was 30-40 lakhs per annum.

So a civil Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar will be better for future to secure a job than Biotechnology from IIT Delhi.

Civil Engineering from IIT Gandhinagar is a better choice as compared to Civil Engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar. Although IIT Gandhinagar is among the newly constructed IITs, it has an impressive faculty in the Civil Engineering department. Besides, the placement record of IIT Gandhinagar is better for Civil Engineering as compared to IIT Bhubaneswar. IIT Gandhinagar has been a preferred choice of most research scholars who wish to pursue their Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. Although the infrastructure of IIT Bhubaneswar is better than IIT Gandhinagar, the latter has a locational advantage(Gandhinagar being the capital of Gujarat) over the former(Bhubaneswar being the capital of Odisha). Furthermore, as compared to other branches, the civil engineering branch at IIT Gandhinagar comprises eminent and revered faculty. On the contrary, IIT Bhubaneswar had faced a shortage of faculty in civil engineering for quite some time.

The answer to this question depends on what you aim for after 4 or 5 years of your college degree. If you just want a placement and not particularly interested in a branch then you could go for any of those two branches as placement statistics are good for both in IIT BHU. There are enough opportunities in the non-core sector which generally comprise IT, developer, analytics, product management, business analyst, etc. These sectors don't look for a specific branch and rather require good communication and analytical skills. 

Coming to the core sectors, both civil and chemical provide diverse opportunities in these areas. If you are someone who finds chemical processing and chemistry interesting, then go for chemical engineering. If you are the one who gets amazed by the interesting and defying structures, civil engineering should be your choice. According to 2019 placement statistics, 77 students from Civil Engineering and 104 students from Chemical Engineering got placed from IIT BHU.

Opting for civil engineering would open doors to exams such as IES, UPSC, GATE, and other state engineering exams. There are ample opportunities for civil engineering majors. And if you choose chemical engineering, you can go for higher studies or work for PSUs. So, both these branches at IIT BHU would provide enough opportunities to grow and explore and the end decision should be based on your interest.

If you wish to work in the government sector, there are very few jobs in CSE but if you want to go for corporate work life, you should go with CSE.

Considering placements, if you opt for CS at NSUT, the average package at NSUT is around 14 LPA and the median package is around 8 LPA considering some international offers which increase the average package by a huge amount. In IIT Bhubaneshwar, people from Civil get jobs in both core and software companies. The packages range from 6 LPA to 39 LPA with an average somewhere around 11.4 LPA.

The campus life at IIT Bhubaneshwar is better as compared to that at NSUT. There are three fests, many science, and non-technical clubs, etc. There are E-classrooms in the campus with faculty to student ratio of around 15:1. The infrastructure, being newly built, is quite impressive with good classrooms and hostels.

The placement statistics of 2019 show the civil engineering department in IIT Bhubaneswar had a placement rate of 89%. The average package offered was 7.6 LPA. While the overall placement rate in IIT Bhubaneswar was 90% with an average package of 11.4 LPA and the highest package offered was of 39 LPA. The M.Tech batches had a 68% placement rate. Civil engineering is one of the oldest branches at IIT BHU and largest in the country. Recently the architecture department also was inaugurated at IIT BHU which is headed by one of the professors of the Civil Engineering Department. This department has well-funded labs which are equipped with modern instruments. Professors of this department are well qualified and most of them are from IITs. The structural engineering department is quite a robust one and some of the professors have worked on projects as big as the Hirakud dam construction.

This branch would provide you with enough opportunities involving real-time problems in the city and around the campus. Also due to increasing urbanization, civil engineering has a high scope. It is a perfect branch if you wish to have a government job and aspire for IAS, IES, and UPSC. On top of that civil engineering could be regarded as one of the easiest amongst core branches.

Overall, the civil engineering department at IIT BHU is worth joining and has a quite appreciable image as opposed to the perception of this branch elsewhere.
